Trump’s NLRB was awful

@@celestialtreetarot4260tha fuck NLRB???? 💅
@@celestialtreetarot4260Trump’s SCOTUS also gutted labor
The awkward silence in the crowd as he spoke up for workers' rights spoke volumes.
But there was also applause and cheers. He should have been booed. It should have been completely silent. But it wasn't. They cheered him. They never booed him. What that means is that there are people at the RNC that agree with his message. Which could mean the Republican Party is becoming more truly Populist in its base -- not necessarily in leadership, but the base may be shifting. That's BAD news for Democrats. If the Democrats become the Party of Big Business Neoliberal policies, and Trump is seen as the champion of the worker and the working class. Oh man. It's game over. Sean O'Brien's speech needs to be a wake up call for the DNC. I think that's why he did the speech.
@@montagneforhire you're joking aren't you, no one was more anti-union, anti-worker than Trump, he stacked the NLR board with anti-union appointees who sided with corporations over workers. He's packed the courts with pro corporate anti- union judges, he promised to veto the Pro Act and Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act. All his appointees made increasing the power of corporate over workers top priority, he made it more difficult to enforce collective bargaining, made it easier to fire workers who spoke up for better pay. He restricted overtime pay, opposed wage increases and gutted health and safety. Nothing about that man is good for working people.
Ikr… did you see the look of like *barely-concealed simmering rage* on Trump’s face? Cuz after *however* many years of being forced to look @ it [😳] throughout all of this-that particular look of his really isn’t too hard to recognize..
They literally have no idea he’s talking about some of them, waiting to hear something about Biden, POC or the border.
Theyre not going to boo. The optics would be terrible. The gop says they care but their actions show the opposite @montagneforhire
As a UPS teamster, I'm really disappointed with our leadership's performance. It often feels like leadership just wants to make a buck and look superior, rather than actually help. The way that they avoid strikes at all costs, even taking huge concessions on our behalf, really makes it seem like they are all talk, and even that they may be working with corporations more than they let on. My old shift was recently cut, and they literally begged us to stay in the union until they could find us work because they would lose some funding. Sean O'Brien has created a profit seeking motive for unionization, and it's frustrating for all of us.
Unions are ways for workers to unite and push for better conditions, better wages, and fair treatment. They are not intended to gain profit or make any of the leadership richer than the rank and file.
Look up the UAW leadership salaries........ They make way more than UAW workers.
Sean Fain was making $180,000 even before he became President. Average UAW salary is less 1/3 that. His assistant even makes more than the average factory worker
I wouldn't be surprised if he has a billionaire lining his pockets.
My mom said in the 80s that unions were going down hill after Jackie Presser Jr. was basically appointed to be the president of the Teamsters, who was NOTHING like his father who was the best Teamster president they ever had.
And she was a Teamster shop steward.
@@tmzz3609 Fain has earned his salary. He’s made incredible things happen for his union.
Imagine talking to the RNC about how elites are bullying lower and middle class people.... but they are the elites😅
I guess he should have just stayed home and not say anything
I'd write half a speech
And Republicans who aren't rich are just going to filter the word "elite" through whatever far-right conspiracy theory they subscribe to. None of them will turn on capitalists as a result of this speech.
lol the RNC are the elites? Biden is literally gonna get kicked off the ticket by “elites” after he was voted in by the people. That’s what elites are lol
Oh it's way worse. 1% of them are the elites. About 25% are upper middle class. The rest are poor. So they fully believe on having their necks crushed.
JD Vance was upset that voters voted for a minimum wage increase in Ohio. He blamed it on Democrats & said it’s going to be their fault that the price of everything will increase. It’s a talent to be that out of touch. & the Teamster’s President said he’s pro worker. Unbelievable

If you are a blue collar worker you better vote blue also or you voting against everything that unions do and stand for.
I still love how he went from picking fights with Markwayne Mulletman to platonically quoting him at the RNC 😅 did anyone else feel the whiplash?
I understand your point of view, but when it comes to dealing with politics, I think he's basically just a lobbyist. And like most lobbyists he's trying to work both sides. I also think a union endorsement is overrated.
@@4336aaathink it depends on the area you live. When i was serving as my local's COPE chair i was also running my friend's campaign for st rep. I got him my union's endorsement and he won a tough primary by turning out members of that union and other affilatef unions who lived his district.
It appears that O’Brian has forgotten all about Trump tax cuts that eliminated thousands of dollars of deductions for many truck drivers. He also has forgotten the decades long campaign by republicans to pass “Right to Work” legislation at the state level that was really laws designed to breakup unions and make it harder for workers to form unions.
I heard parts of his speech and he made some good points, but we all know that there was not one Republican who believed he was talking about them and their elite status.
Less than stellar reception here. Wouldn’t you say?
Or O'Brien is gambling that he can influence Trump with some compliments. Trump is easily swayed but people praising him.
Who cares what the Republicans there think?
When j d vance heard his name , he was genuinely shocked.

I could be wrong, but I think he's just working both sides.
His praise of Reagan, and Howling for Hawley.... Nah, he ain't shite.
When did he praise Reagan?
EWWWW.... his "praise" of Hawley almost made throw up. After that, I couldn't handle anything more for his mouth. And I actually thought this Teamster President was one of the good guys! UGHHHH!
"The left called me a traitor." And they're correct.
The extreme left wing people that republicans say exist is Sean Obrien. He's not a far leftist by any means and is a centrist more than likely but when the right wing screams far left, they mean this guy lol. It's rich for him to say the far left opposed him to speak there when he is far left in a country where the Overton window has this country so far right. A union "boss" is supposed to be far left lol.
SELLOUT!
Nor a traitor. Misguided, for sure. Maybe even pandering to the conservatives in the union. But not a sellout.
@@jlewis3774"pandering to the conservatives"
When a union boss does that, it's called being a traitor to the labor class.
As a Teamster I had no problem with his speech and him going to the RNC. But when he gave praise to JD Vance I was disappointed, I remember seeing an ad when JD Vance started it off with “are you a racist? Do you hate Mexicans?” As a Chicano (Mexican American) Teamster that was very disappointing
making the gop seem more pro labor is disastrous
only if people fall for it, which they aren't really. people can recognize pandering
The cheers he got were so much quieter than every other speaker and it's cause the RNC and the people who go there overall do not care about Unions and populism not based in race or political belief, so dumb for him to pander to a group who don't even bat an eye at him
You think he doesn't know?
based on listening to what he said, i dont think he is pandering at all. i think he is genuine. i think he took this opportunity to speak, just because he was given a platform. he does not sound pro-republican to me. he is speaking on behalf of all workers who have been fucked by both republicans and democrats. it's kind of funny, because here he was invited to speak, but hes giving the republicans a big F U anyway. Hes telling them to fck themsalves at thier own convention
Betrayal forever.
He is a sellout and should be removed from the teamsters union.
The german unions also thought they could ally themselves with the nazies, guess what happened to them.
Has Donald Trump ever hired union workers for anything?
Well i have no doubt he do it for a photo op.
The bar for conservatives is so incredibly low. Senators with an active record of being anti-union change their messaging slightly and we're supposed to pretend they're now more pro-union than progressives? We're supposed to vote an incredibly exploitative employer and self-proclaimed billionaire into office?
Unions showing their true colors, stopping immigration hasn't been always about pay, even in the labor sphere. Older Trade Unions had to be forced to integrate, and are still full of old guard types like Biden himself, that resisted racial integration.
No one should be surprised by this. Did he touch upon Progressive themes with regard to workers? Sure. But so did Mussolini, Hitler and Juan Peron. Just like the modern National Rally in France. This is all straight out of the Fascist playbook, as Fascists have always used wedge issues like immigration, race, and religion to con white workers into supporting the very policies that hurt them. The GOP has not only opposed unions. It has opposed every law and regulation designed to help workers. This guy doesn’t represent workers. He represents mobsters. No wonder Trump likes him
Oh my god. You just totally jumped the shark! You're going waaaaay off into lunatic fringe town.
See, this is why the Left loses so often. We are our own worst enemy.

The weak crowd reaction and voting habits of congressmen is telling. But folks will swear GOP is for workers lol
I work at a steel processing facility in Wisconsin and the guy who fixes our fork trucks didn’t understand why he was speaking or what he was saying. He just said it was weird. Lol
Sam just shared some facts that should cause major concern if you're a worker and thinking about voting Republican
But the Republicans don't have to worry about that because the Democrats are not going to advertise the good things that Biden did which Sam just explained
That's not the way this game is played
If it were the Democrats would probably win in a landslide
That's the goofy thing. The Dems have started talking about the good things Biden did, and how that's a *bad* thing. "Stop looking in the past and start looking toward the future" sort of rhetoric. "It's a good way to make him look old." I'm starting to get so tired of this election, thanks in no small part to this coverage. So little coalition on this side. Save these differences for after the election
@@munkeefinkelbeen5395 Really?
Im hearing about things like the 5% annual cap on rent which if you know what rent costs and what workers make it's not a win.
Itll actually create more homelessness. Best case it slows it down temporarily. I heard Biden mention that on 3 separate occasions and i don't even watch the channels where you see Biden speak. I did not hear him speaking about the wins he got for workers that Sam and Emma shared
And what should be his most prized asset, Lin Khan, might as well be an unknown aide. Jon Stewart has done infinitely more in exposing her to voters than any Democrat
It's like he didn't want the labor leader he has and the woman who is actually going after monopolies so he doesn't want credit
Id say he lives in the 90s but that makes him seem almost too modern.

He is pranking them HARD! And driving away the remnants of the old Republican Party.
Sorry but strategically this made perfect sense. It's incentivizing movement in his direction. He isn't an idiot and is well aware that Republicans aren't doing anything for unions. He's very slightly reducing the damage of an almost-certain Trump administration, and bringing the message to this audience. Let's remember for a second, it would only taken a couple of people going against their party (or just Manchin not being a dick) and the Pro Act passes. It kind of bothers me how polarized we've become to the point where a show I admire and respect hosted by a man I admire and respect who seems to usually be right about most issues that are important to me...
...has such a myopic, "in the bubble", short-sided take on what O'Brien accomplished.
To me, the guy's an American hero.
I attended a rally for IATSE in Los Angeles back in I think April or May in preparation for the looming threat of a strike if IATSE doesn't get the contract it wants. O'Brien was the keynote speaker there as well. His speech was the best part of the day among other really great speeches. Right then I knew not only is this guy on our side, but he is a strong leader that can get things done -- which we are severely lacking in Democratic Party politics (I am a Progressive Independent, so I have no allegiance to either Party). Strength. Boston strength.
Then, he gave a strong pro-union, pro-worker, anti-corporation speech to the Party that is literally the epicenter of the opposite of all of that...
That's the epitome of bravery to me. That's the epitome of the kind of leadership we need. That's true heroism.
I'm so bummed that the Majority Report doesn't see it that way. I thought for sure you would.
Well, at least I still have Cenk Uygur who agrees with me.
Still a fan of the show and agree about 95-98 percent of the time. It's normal to have disagreements with those you respect and admire...
It's just in this case it's a bummer because I think Sean O'Brien's speech is the most important political moment that needs the most attention paid to it because it could be the turning point. And y'all just wrote him off as in the tank for Trump and the Republicans. I think you miss the point. I don't think that's the case, at all.
I think it puts the pressure on the DNC to come up with a Populist candidate to replace Biden. And one more Progressive BECAUSE Sean O'Brien just demonstrated that the country is ready for it.
So when O'Brien tweeted his 100% support for Hawley ranting about DEI and the "religion of transgenderism", I suppose that was just O'Brien having the remarkable bravery to stand up to marginalized union members.
O'Brien's message is clear: unions are for everyone, as long as everyone is white, straight, Christian, a man, and very very definitely not transgender. What a working class hero.

“I don’t think so!” - Fred Willard from “A Mighty Wind” Sam and Emma both said it in the same intonation as Fred. So funny.
It hurts
Trumps face says it ALL [WHO ASKED THIS GUY TO SPEAK? Get him off the stage]
Those people at the Trump rallys NEEDED to hear what the Teamsters had to say.
Keep on mind that if he had backed Biden, then Biden would be saying, "You see? I Should stay in!"
What a shiv into the backs of the Democratic party.
The teamsters president says SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!
Biden lost Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and most other states because of Palestine.
Get Jill Stein on the show and get her some more support.
Hot take but... all unions are not created equal. Some unions are fully invested in the neo-liberal order... I'm just saying, you didn't see a Wobbly up there on that stage, now did you? A union which does not take the radical position of anti-capitalism, is very much like a thing which tastes sweet, but is poisonous. This goes back to the disputes between the IWW and AF of L way back in the day; some folks get into the union, and things start looking better for them, and they start to have ambitions of becoming a petit bourgeois themselves. Time and time again we see how liberation, without education, causes people to emulate their oppressors. Another thing to consider is whether or not most modern unions would go to bat in literal street battles, if need be, in solidarity with causes that don't fit precisely into their miche interests. Would the teamsters administration ever go fight the Klan in the streets like the IWW did? What about the AFL? I think we know the answer to that. Some people forgot this is class war, whether we chose to fight or not.
Problem with O'Brian here is that he speaks their language too well, sort of how the Movie Talladega Nights was scratching satire of Alabama rednecks and... nobody down here got the memo, un-ironically quoting the spider monkey line and so forth. You have to say the thing, at some point, because when a RW hears "the elites" they think they are hearing "Jews", literally, there is no class analysis going on with RW, they say elite because it's less likely to get them accused of racism. For the minority of them who do not mean it this way, the term elite has this tinge of respectability, almost like they are better, not merely more wealthy, than the rest of us.
They don’t care about workers rights 😂😂😂😂😂
I am a strong supporter of unions. I love Shawn Fein's work with the UAW. My mother was an active member of the WEA. But, Sean O'Brien reminds me of a thug. I am a huge fan of the reality Cooking competition show and I remember his behavior towards the cast and crew of that show when they filmed in Boston.
Grew up in a union home. UAW and Garment workers union. It influenced me a lot. I can remember my Dad going out to walk the picket line like he was going to work. And my Mom attending meetings before she went to work (worked nights).
What show?
Love how everytime he focusses on actual union policy
The crowd is silent and or bareky clapped for.
If he was really brave, he'd ask Trump if he'll unionize his businesses.
On the negative side, it gives the perception that dictator Don loves regular folks. On the positive side, the messaging gets these people to agree then let's them hear the FDR style stuff that Republicans argue against. Gives their brain a quick jolt to rationalize why you agreed, but suddenly heard something you've been trained to be against.
RNC to teamsters. Using the southern strategy. “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best-colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for LBJ
This is...bizzare
The Teamsters guy tried to trick the members. But the folks at another channel were fawning over this speech without any further thought.
Is the GOP argument for people to change their vote and then the GOP will start supporting their interests?
I'm not a Teamster, but I am in the Union (Carpenters) and hear to tell you, Trump and the Rebublican party is in no-way for the Union.
