There are several culprits that could end up with a wavy rug. The first thing is to figure out where the wave is. Is it along the straight edge, or bowing at the ends. If it's along the straight edge it's tension or a flat surface, if it's on the ends of an oval rug it's not feeding the cording at the proper amounts. Of course pulling one chord tighter than the other can be an issue, but it sounds like you have already addressed that. Here are a couple other things to consider. When you're sewing your rug you want to make sure that the rug is very flat. I build up all around the table with stacks of books equal to the heights of my sewing platform. I create a flat surface for the rug to slide on. I slow the machine down so that there's no drag or pull and I let the machine feed the rug through the feeddogs. Are you sewing with a thin neck or do you have a quilting table attached to your sewing machine? If it's a thin neck the one that comes with the sewing machine then when it comes off the back of the machine it's certainly going to cause an uneven pull. All I'm doing is pressing the straight edges together and letting the machine attach the two cords.
The next culprit might be the ends. If you have ever done a coiled pot the principles are the same. As you go around the corner especially in the beginning I use my right hand to flatten and finger press into the curve a scoach more than the cord. Remember it's like a car going around the corner. It may take a little practice to get this down however it should always lay flat. Remember when you are sewing to always pull from the back and check your work as you go. You can stop at anytime and press it. If it is not laying flat while you are sewing it and you do not fix it as you go you will have what they call lettuce ruffles. Keep trying, finger feed a little more of the outer cord with the right hand, pull from the back, stop if it's not laying flat, press as you go. Let me know how you're doing. I want to hear your success!

How do you keep your rug from slipping on floors?

They have four grips that you can put underneath them and cut them to size. That works really good

Also know that the larger the rug the more likely it is to have some bowing. See the comment below this one for sewing tips. Press as you go. And know that The rug will relax a little bit once you put it on the floor and it settles. That's a fine line between something that needs to be corrected and natural settling.

Can someone please help me, my rug is cupped and wavy. I tried very hard not to pull fabric to make it tight. I am ripping it apart now--and it's pretty good sized at this point. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO
