Hey Chad so I am ready to pull the trigger on a scan tool. I narrowed down to Launch Torque Link or TopDon Phoenix Smart. each can be had for $1800. what do you think is best, just one. (I am leaning launch) Lastly what are your thoughts on Not buying a Launch USA tool? But rather getting a Launch Global Unit. I can get a global Launch Pad VII for $2000 (its the flagship unit same as Launch USA Throttle 3)

The global units don’t have any tech support. That being said, I have never called tech support for any of my scan tools so that may not matter.
From what I have heard the topdon units have some the best tech support available if tech support is desired.
I am not sure how the updates are acquired on the global units but it’s probably the same as the USA versions and you just purchase through the tool.
If you work on newer Chrysler and Nissan vehicles you will want the USA version so you can register the tool with AutoAuth for secure gateway vehicles.
I think the topdon interface has slightly more coverage for J2534 programming.
🤣hopefully this provides enough information to help you pick a model.
