No one talks about them because they’re pretty non existent these days. Notice that most of these final guys are from films made over 20 years ago. Every time I watch any contemporary horror with a group of male and female characters, I always make a prediction on who will make it to the end, and it’s always a female character. At this point, the final girl is a horror movie trope. Filmmakers need to mix it up and stop repeating that formula.
Great video Cody. My top 10 are 1. Seth Gecko (From Dusk till Dawn) 2. Ash (Evil Dead Franchise) 3. MacReady (John Carpenter's The Thing) 4. Val & Earl (Tremors) 5. Tommy Jarvis (Friday the 13th 4,5 and 6) 6. Arkin (The Collector and The Collection) 7. Andy Barclay (Childs Play Franchise) 8. Doug (The Hills Have Eyes Remake) 9. Paxton (Hostel) 10. Jesse (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge)
It's always amazing to me how big of a face Elijah Wood is in horror. I remember James A. Janisse making a joke about 'someone saying their favorite Elijah Wood horror movie' with the character saying "Come to Daddy". At the time I thought that was oddly specific but then I realize how he's played in a lot of other horror works. Maniac, The Faculty, The Good Son (my favorite). I can say the list is more than I would've expected back then
@@Lakeshow82 yup and even a little Harry Potter lookin which is funny considering how comparable HP and LoTR is. I'm not the biggest fan of either, especially compared to the horror genre which is like my whole gig now, but it's worth mentioning

Bill Robinson ("Maximum Overdrive"), Dutch ("Predator"), John Hall ("Graveyard Shift"), Brian Flagg ("The Blob" remake), Detective Logan ("The First Power"), Mike Harrigan ("Predator 2"), Val & Earl ("Tremors"), Jonathan Parker (Craven's "Shocker"), Royce ("Predators"), and Bill Chrushank ("Body Parts") just to name a few more. And I'm sure that there are some others, too. 😄🙂
As a Friday the 13th fan I will stand in your defense that in both movies where Tommy Jarvis matters he does rely on the final girl to save his life. And Jesse does too. He would've been a goner without Lisa.
Especially the 5th he walks in after beating the shit out of everyone and acting total badass just to get slash and out for pretty much the rest of the fight
When you think about it, Chief Brody from JAWS can be counted as a horror final guy. He was the one man standing left to kill the shark since Quint was killed and Hooper hid away until the end. JAWS is one of those older horror classic films that uniquely don't take part in some of the tropes you'd see in, for example, slasher films but in a rare instance, it actually makes the cut here
Thrilled to see Charlie Brewster on this list. With respect to the choices I would also like to submit other Final Guys with cool arcs: Brian Flagg (Kevin Dillon) in the remake of the Blob, Shaun (Simon Pegg) in Shaun of the Dead, and honorable mention to David Drayton (Thomas Jane) in The Mist, just because of the choices he is forced to make.
Andy fs had to be on this list he’s such a great character to follow and his progression from child to adult was great. From a victim, fighter, and protector is such a nice change for the character. In a genre where women are put in the spotlight with lots of amazing final girls the final boys we do get are great not all of them of course.
I’m glad Arkin and Brody are on this list. I know you don’t like the Wrong Turn franchise but I thought Chris from the first movie was a great final guy. Also Chris from Get Out if it counts as a horror film

I'm adding Chris Washington from Get Out, Jim from 28 Days Later, Shaun from Shaun Of The Dead & Doug from Hills Have Eyes 2006 Also Paxon from Hostel you just wanna see him win so bad. Peter Dawn Of The Dead '78 10. Paxon Hostel
Your review on Phantasm got me hyped to watch it again. And the collector and the collection are some of my favorites, I never understood why it didn't get more love or attention. It was wayyyyyy better than most popular horror movies out around that time.
Great list! Of friggin' course, Ash is #1. He's fucking awesome. I'd add: - The Janitor from Willy's Wonderland: Bad, boring movie, but it's still entertaining seeing him beat the asses of the robots while maintaining the same expression the entire movie. Not really a good character, but still. - Mike from the Belko Experiment: While starting off weak, he did rise to the occasion near the end, and it's absolutely satisfying, yet unexpected. From killing the main antagonist who was twice capable than him, to his quickness in the end. - Paxton from Hostel: Love how quick and consistent he was. Didn't waste time screaming and begging, and just straight to what we want. He kicked ass, was stealthy and swift, and did not hesitate in killing the peeps involved with the EHC.
Great video man, really got me thinking. I’d throw in Chris from Get Out, he played it smart! Also, Paxton from Hostel even if his character is an ass in a way, he survived a bad situation. Also , Val and Earl from Tremors those guys are great.
Arkhan is such a cool character. I love the premise of him and the Collector in a never ending duel between kinda good and evil and I wish the series would continue.
Next up, try a top 10 final duos: two people who make it to the end together. Examples include Seth and Kate in From Dusk Till Dawn, Frank and Lucy in The Frighteners, and Laurie and Sam in Halloween.
Me too, I liked Alex even more than Clear, and I really didn't get why Clear is more popular (I know she appear in the 2nd one but I didnʼt like her character that much)
Groovy, here are my top 5 favorite final guys 5. Tommy Jarvis (A grown man, with childhood trauma that will do whatever he can to put Jason to rest.) 4. I would put Jim from 28 Days Later on here. Just a chill dude tryna survive and get by most of the film, but at the end he has to rise to the occasion to save himself and the girls. He takes out the whole group of Soldiers with a combo of guerilla tactics and his bare hands. Plus it's Cillian Murphy 🥵
This was awesome, I'm so happy you did this list, final guys don't get enough recognition. Really good list. I have no problem with you not putting Tommy on your list, it's okay that he's not your favorite 😊. So here's mine. 10. Sam from Disturbia 9. Sean Falco from Bad Samaritan 8. Army of Darkness is my favorite horror film of all time, and Ash Williams is a big part of that. I love the Evil Dead franchise (Probably my favorite horror series), and he absolutely is the greatest final guy of all time.
Army of darkness is so much fun! I still prefer Evil Dead 2 but some days I go back and forth. I love the evil dead series also, it’s one of the more consistently good horror series.
Justice for Andy! Love to see it. A lot of people don’t take into consideration just how young he was in the beginning. Like six, I think. That’s insane.

I've never seen anyone make a Final Guys list and it could only be Cody doing it. Thanks for another great video. For a moment before the list started I thought about Arnold in Predator but in the end I think it's something else.
awesome list. i’d like to add the father from the hills have eyes remake. yes the siblings were alive at the end but they just stayed at the trailer and cried till the end. the dad on the other hand massacres a nuked town filled of mutant cannibals to get his baby back. just a kickass ending
Jared Padalecki made a good one in Ft13th 2009. One of the few characters to legit fight back instead of keep running away. And, I kinda hate to say it, but just being honest, you gotta respect Busta Rhymes at least a little bit for trying to fight Michael Myers. The movie may have been complete trash but you gotta credit Busta just a little for fighting back. Oh, and let’s not forget Doug and technically Bobby from Hills Have Eyes 2006. Doug straight up went feral damn near to get his baby back.
You forgot the greatest one, Chuck Norris from Silent Rage. The ultra rare case of the killer facing a man who can actually hold his own and win. Nothing against final girls or beta males per se, but it's nice to see an alpha male kick ass in a horror flick sometimes.

Officer Burke - Final Destination 2
Nick- House of Wax
Chris - Wrong Turn
Glad Charlie made it to the list😁
Would of thrown Pat in there from Green Room too but maybe a little too underrated for the general public😅
I've never seen anyone make a Final Guys list and it could only be Cody doing it. Thanks for another great video. For a moment before the list started I thought about Arnold in Predator but in the end I think it's something else.
It was announced back in 2022 that an animated revival of Ash vs The evil dead is in development.
Arkin is without a doubt my favorite, too underrated.
Loved this video!
Loving your list!!!
I was terrified of The Tall Man when I was very young lol. Then I became a horror fanatic
Very cool, underrated list Cody! Nobody talks about Aleistar from the Evil Bong films!
awesome list. i’d like to add the father from the hills have eyes remake. yes the siblings were alive at the end but they just stayed at the trailer and cried till the end. the dad on the other hand massacres a nuked town filled of mutant cannibals to get his baby back. just a kickass ending
I’m a big fan of Jesse Walsh
Second sight is supposedly releasing the hitcher on 4k this year
Just FYI The Hitcher is currently been upgraded to Blu Ray by Second Sight Films, not sure when the release date is yet though
Great list! I understand Ash at no 1. A very fair and cool choice. But as for my personal favourite.. MacReady is THE MAN!
Ash would be my number 1 also he goes through so much hell but macready is such a badass! He’d have to be on the list for me if I made one.
Is the stoner from Cabin in the woods at least in your top 20?
The Faculty is one of my favorite movies!! It was such a great take on everything!
Doug straight up went feral damn near to get his baby back.
i love the collector and the collection !! i never hear anyone online talk about them 🖤
Marty from Cabin in the Woods is up there for me.
As is your mom.
Thanks for making this list Cody. Also cries in Tommy Jarvis.
You forgot the greatest one, Chuck Norris from Silent Rage. The ultra rare case of the killer facing a man who can actually hold his own and win. Nothing against final girls or beta males per se, but it's nice to see an alpha male kick ass in a horror flick sometimes.
I might go back to watch The Hitcher. I knew that Jim Halsey was going to be on this list
Never watched any of the phantasm movies so i wont argue. They look interesting though.
The alternate ending for The Collector is hilarious
Nice Video Cody the guys in horror deserve more recognition thank you for this video
I would add Chris from Get Out
Great topic picked by the patreons!!!
