The piece's of wood we're used to hold up vent tubing and electrical lines if they had any. Air lines and water lines were usually on the floor. But I'm glad you pointed out that open stope and the shaft. There's still winzes In the mines and false floors. In other words,. The signs are no joke. Stay Out Stay Alive. I have been fascinated with mines for over 50 years! I've explored various mines before we had cell phones and all the high tech gear that we have now, you need a good sense of direction. I did use a real compass that most people now don't know how to use! Safety is the key to doing these hikes
You figure these mines are over 100 years old and they have survived numerous earthquakes and they are still open. The rocks on top of those planks has been there forever! I did that mine years ago and the very little bit you saw didn't look changed at all. Nothing is gonna fall just because you walk in there. Just be smart and don't touch supports etc. But you missed out on a decent mine.
You are a genius sir , these videos seem to bring out the nervous Nellie's warning us that the sky is falling , people seem to LOVE to tell us how they'd never go in a mine.
It's always amazing to me how they hauled all this "stuff" out to this place !!!!
