Flourish is such an awesome track. I always lose myself in that middle section. Language 1 & 2 are a must!
Damn, I love The Contortionist SO much. This. Is. Prog.
(Also, hi Villagers!)
Jen G. ✋🏻👋🏻✋🏻👋🏻✋🏻👋🏻✋🏻
Jen G. Hey Jen
Oooo you're like a comment unicorn
*waves*
The Contortionist- The Language Pt 1 and P2!!!
Those are sooooo good :D
I think Prog is the best kind of Metal there is, because there's limitless creative freedom. Bands like Dream Theater, Opeth, Gojira, Ne Obliviscaris, Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, TesseracT, Periphery, Alcest, Mastodon, Protest The Hero, Intronaut, Intervals and Native Construct (to name a few) DON'T SOUND AT ALL ALIKE, but the staggering degrees of difference between them are a testament to how vast the genre is.
I would LOVE to see you react to the entirety of Between The Buried And Me's "Colors". You reacted to "Ants Of The Sky" a while ago, but that was a poor recommendation, because that 'song' is smack in the middle of Colors 'track listing' and also happens to be the connective mid-section of a meta-trilogy (Sun Of Nothing, Ants Of The Sky, Prequel To The Sequel), so that's why it sounds directionless. The 'tracks' on Colors CAN be enjoyed individually, but they are better experienced as parts of a grand whole than as individual songs, because BTBAM wrote "Colors" as a single 62-minute long composition and listening to it in a single sitting, front to back, without pausing IS THE BEST WAY of experiencing this project! IN FACT, I'LL PAY $75 FOR YOU TO DO IT! XD
Agreed
I think death metal is the best music there is but to each their own.
My favorite genre is progressive power metal.
Man, Native Construct was amazing. I hate that we only got the one album.
I fuck with that Scale The Summit
Check out all their stuff. The more albums they put out, the lighter they got but still good.
When I first heard this song I had the same reaction you all did. It’s a masterpiece and the transition from heavy to melody then heavy again with brutal breakdowns. Makes it one of my top songs
I’m so glad you guys loved the song as much as I do!! The Contortionist really is an amazing band, can’t wait to see you react to more of their music
I'm so glad I got to experience this one with you guys... One of my fave songs of the past decade.
The Contortionist is my favorite band of all time. If you liked the ethereal section, you’d love their newer stuff from 2014+. They tone down the heavy and really focus on feel
Intrinsic never gets any love 😥 so many beautiful melodies in that album
@@nickhaas9185 intrinsic is so ridiculously underrated. I consider that album it's own genre
@@nickhaas9185 Intrinsic has grown on me a lot. I have to listen to Causality and Geocentric Confusion inorder to sleep at night xD
The outrageously heavy sections in the old stuff were why the melodic sections were so good!
The contortionist has been my 1# favorite band for a long time. So I definitely adore how much you guys appreciated/understood this track. ❤👍
This band was from my hometown. Spent my high school years watching them perform and perfect this album in the cruddiest venues ever but making it always sound beautiful and heavy. It was cool to see the crowd go from Moshing and heavy to hugging and just enjoying the calmer sections in bliss. This era or TC will always hold a special place in my heart. I have seen a lot of death metal, slam, deathcore, djent, and down tuned bands but this era of The Contortionist just hit Harder than anything I have ever heard live. Not to be fucked with. Indianapolis proud ✊
Thanks Daniel lol
Exoplanet is my favorite album by The Contortionist. It's on up there in my All Times as well. I first heard this when I was 15, and I was blown away. It was EXTREMELY HEAVY to me, and when the clean part(s) came in, I teared up, haha. I'm so glad you guys liked it. This is one of those unique bands where you absolutely have to hear more. Each album is different from the last. The album Language, I think, you will absolutely love.
I saw The Contortionist reacted by Vin & Sori and thought 'What?!?!' Lol. Nice! Huge Contortionist fan. You guys should definitely hear some more from them, no doubt! 👏
Anticipated the clean tremolo-picking reaction lol. The Contortionist are high-tier and you should definitely listen to more of their material, old and new.
Amazing group! Saw them live once and they were a force, a blanket of atmosphere and emotion! Thank you!
Vin's headbanging is on point. That is all.
Seeing this live is incredible. Saw them for a 2 hour set, best show I've ever seen. One of the very few bands I would describe as "musical geniuses"
Hey guys! Great stuff as always! Much love🙏♥️
Lots of love and hugs to you, Lo ❤️
This song is so unbelievably amazing live. I really hope you guys get to see it someday
So happy you finally reviewed The Contortionist. Check out their album Language. It's one of my top 3 favorite albums of all music!
One of my all time favorite bands. Seen them live several times! \m/
This whole album is perfect in my opinion. Although I prefer the original over the redux. Badass concept album with a perfect blend of heavy and melodic. It's honestly one of my top all time albums.
I completely agree with this comment, even preferring the original over the redux.
Finaly that was awesome
Ive seen them live 4 times now about to see them a 5th time here in march with Haken and Devin Townsend. I never get tired of seeing them live. They still to this day are one of my top favorite bands in the world. They are also the nicest group of guys you can meet they even let me take pictures with them. I also own all of their albums lol, i would highly recommend listening to either Return To Earth or Monochrome(Pensive) from their latest full length if you want to hear how they have evolved after all these years.
Loved the reaction guys this was actually my first song by them aswell lol
This is a transcendental band. Think of the lyrics on a deeper and more out of the box level.
What do the lyrics mean?
@@iDoqz the whole album (from what I can tell) is an alien species trying to get their creations (us) to survive by colonizing new systems. The album ends with one of the planets being razed by a “circling disk of ice” which is probably another alien species
@@alternas7195 oh, interesting. i understood it as it being about humans trying to avoid extinction by colonizing other planets and ultimately failing at the end of the last song
@@iDoqz yeah thats what i thought at first, but there's clearly some creator because of the lyrics "my creation - stare into space" from contact, plus the part where they say "We are pleased" when they find out life is thriving in a new system (primal directive)
The original version of this is better. But glad to see people finding out about this band.
The reaction at 4:20 tells me you need to listen to their last 2 albums - Language and Clairvoyant. I love all of their albums but the latest 2 are less heavy but are absolutely incredible.
The contortionist fucking slays!
I have been waiting SO long for you guys to do this band. They're my absolute favorite. You should listen to Monochrome (Pensive) by them. It's a beautiful, heart breaking tale.
The lyrics of this song are pure poetry too
Definitely have the lyrics pulled up for their songs haha, they go deep
I’ll be seeing these guys with Devin Townsend tomorrow. I can’t wait!!!
Also, I caught them with Periphery 3 years ago. They put on an amazing show.
Ugh! I was going to until things got cancelled. Devy, Haken, and The Contortionist...why a concert!
Great song!
*Just when I think of the Contortionist, I see you guys react to them as well!*
Excellent choice. Exoplanet is still one of my favorite albums
I have seem them and they are amazing live so talented and tight band
This song is the essence of metal!
I want to suggest from the same band, the center from the clairvoyant album... and dont look into the album concept until after you listen to the song. I'm pretty sure you'll get what the song is about and the reactions will be amazing
Miss you Dave!!!
Listen to that whole album front to back. It tells a story. It’s excellent front to back.
But not the redux
I love this band. Touring with Devin Townsend, and Haken going to be a great show! I have tried to put them up for vote on an alliance but never have the votes.
I cannot miss seeing them that tour haha
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
Moonspell - Night Eternal
You guys should listen to both language and clairvoyant album very very good highly recommend it.
I love you guys. Please react to Hail The Sun Glass Half Empty
Sorrow is Selfishness.......thats a very interesting perspective....
Wow... I have to admit I unsubscribed to your channel due to the sound quality getting so bad... This video Not only has one of the best bands that you have ever reacted too but the sound quality was at another level. This band has gone through several singers but have always impressed. Amazing Musicians...They are continually going through a Metamorphosis. You would probably love the latest stuff. Language 1, Intuition, Language 2 would set you free. They have a new album Our Bones which is really evolved from what your hearing on this song. I am re-subscribing right now!!! Damn I loved you all so much and then it seemed to be going somewhere else.. Not sure how to describe it. Just evolution I guess. … What a redemption. All the best!!!
Epica - Kingdom of heaven
Sup..hope y'all doing well today
Awesome early years of The Contortionist!
Please, react: Beyond Creation - "Omnipresent Perception"
One of favorite bands. You should listen to Clairvoyant.
The contortionist is opening on an upcoming tour for devin townsend. Dont miss that shit. I wont hahaha
Seeing as you enjoyed this group do the language 1,2
You guys should check out Mastodon crack the sky on the crack the sky elbum
The Contortionist is so sick.
Please react to The Birthday Massacre - In the Dark !
you should listen The Contortionist - Oscillator
Indeed. That's my second favorite track off Exoplanet, behind this one.
Amazing song!
The Contortionist - Exoplanet egress
Try Novelists-Souvenirs.
Reaction to Pagan altar- Judgement of dead 1982.
Do you guys react to any songs anyone has heard of any more?
this is the best song they've done in nearly a year.
Celtic Frost - Synagoga Satanae
Celtic Frost - Ain Elohim
Check out Deicide "homage for Satan"
My god can you react to my last words from megadeth? I beg you
Malediction by Shadow of Intent
Clairvoyant by the Contortionist!
angra - carolina iv
Power Trip - Divine Apprehension
Power Trip - Hornet’s Nest
Power Trip - Crucifixation
When are we gonna see some more Avenged Sevenfold reactions!!!🥵🥵🥵
and then they went on to never listen to this band again lol
Two points. First, as sort of prog-snob elitist artsy fartsy type, The Contortionist are awful. One of the most milquetoast bands in modern prog. No wonder so many musically illiterate dumdums love them. I bet you're also the types that order your steaks well done.
Second, rofl @ Sori calling Vin a person that understands nuance. That might be one of the funniest things anyone has ever said. Sori should do stand up.
They're not even prog anyways.
Your pretentiousness is showing...
