  • Roll Racing is fun, but it has its limitations. Traction comes to mind first. Especially on a cold night and with no available warm up burnouts, and on an unprepped surface... The run up isn't always amazing for some of the turbo cars, and the track is short which gives all the AWD cars a MAJOR advantage. Now some RWD cars manage to do well here but realistically it has become an AWD war of 1500 - 2500 horsepower workshop built cars.
This is completely fair because Roll Racing was made so that people could just run their street cars on a track in a simulated real life scenario racing a short distance like from light to light against random people and it never pretended to be anything more than that. So there is no point getting upset when you come across a 2000hp car in your 400hp WRX or your 800hp xr6 turbo and get left for dead...
It is a fantastic event that happens monthly and has attracted some of the biggest crowds in motorsport here for people to watch their favourite cars run, and if they're lucky enough, they can go in as passenger!
So why have a separate event which is effectively the same thing but at the Drag strip? Well I think it's pretty obvious... Traction!
The likes of Andrew Hawkins from Motive Video, along with Platinum Racing Products, and the other companies, have come together to make this event possible, having listened to complaints about certain aspects of Roll Racing, have offered a solution to as many of those issues as possible!
However... it is not without its own teething issues as you will see in this episode...
