John is great in doing these interviews. Seems like the artists appreciate how engaged and happy he is just to stand there and talk and listen to them. Much respect. David Harris is amazing. More and more Im gravitating to tone first rather than a million notes per measure. This guy has all the feels in his playing.
David Ryan Harris is terrific and I've been a fan since Follow for Now. His self-titled album was super underappreciated and still rules. And that Brand New Immortals EP! Always amazing guitar work and tone.
This is my favorite Rig Rundown so far. Knew nothing of David Harris prior (know nothing of Mayer TBH) but easily the most informed and applicable info yet. I can't recall a Rig Rundown where the featured performer spoke such a common vernacular to the working musician. Thank you for this.
Bought the CooperFX Outward V2 after watching this video. Maybe it was an impulse buy but it sounds so cool and there were only two listed on Reverb. Can't wait to play it.
That guitar sounds and looks amazing. David is a great player/songwriter. The Frank brothers know how to make a guitar. I wish I could afford one… I’d buy two.
Love Frank Brothers Guitar Co. Have an Arcade that is just perfect. Super versatile and David's pedal board fits the want to strip down to the basics with an instrument like his. Love it!
At first I thought John had a wireless earpiece in and imagined Chris "Always Prepared" Keys yelling "Ask about the picks, ask about the picks!" Turns out it's just an earplug.😉
David is a beast... and I'm sure he knows this... though one thing that really helped me with getting into P90s is understanding the construction. P90s have TWO magnets each pickup instead of one like a humbucker or F single coil. Also as a general rule, people often have P90s with alnico 5s (or even ceramics) which can sound great for the bridge... but often the neck sounds kind of dull. Someone in an FB archtop group saw me complaining and recommended a magnet swap. He recommended alnico 2s. I went to Addiction FX and bought FOUR alnico 2 magnets. A dear friend who does my tech work did the swaps. For the neck it was just what I needed, though we opted to go back to the alnico 5s for the bridge. Now, I love that guitar - it's an archtop and it absolutely sings in all positions with a lot of reach. Thats to say that since he loves the look of that first guitar, he may be able to do a magnet swap for less than $10 and keep the look though get a better airier bridge. Worked for me.
Love David’s board, he got an amazing voice and cool songs too as Shelter, Sweetest berry, So is mine n so on, im happy to see him using the Jhs Madison vibrato, super dope that second pedal after the prism. G.A.S. Mode on here haha.
That Cooper FX pedal was really interesting. Cant believe John was stumped on a Browne Amplification Protein pedal that is pretty ubiquitous on at least higher end boards.
@johnbolinger I'd have loved to hear his approach to using the Iridium as opposed to his amp and also his use of the Cooper pedal so early in the chain especially before the Brown protein, otherwise a great rig rundown.
I only use the iridium when I have to play without an amp. It’s bypassed when I have an amp. The cooper is sensitive to playing dynamics. I basically play INTO it. Drives before the cooper limit the range and affect the guitar’s relationship to the threshold needed to trigger the effect
Haha! This made me question my memory a bit; I'm quite sure John Bohlinger made my favorite review of the Prism years ago. I assume that was part of the script. 😊
Ya know, I realize you guys cater to a crowd who would recognize John Mayer but labeling DRH rose to prominence as a solo artist and Follow For Now long before Mayer. But please continue to appeal to doctors and lawyers with vanilla taste in music.
The “that’s what she said” joke at 15:26 😂
Heard that. Outstanding. even better that John didn't notice. 👌
I actually lol'd
He made it such a casual passing comment and John missed it. Even more reason to be a DRH fan! haha
😂good spot, like John, I missed it first time
We are all going to be in our 80s and chuckle a little bit when someone says "that's she said!" Cheers to growing old, Gents!
John is great in doing these interviews. Seems like the artists appreciate how engaged and happy he is just to stand there and talk and listen to them. Much respect.

So you’re not a kid anymore.
David Ryan Harris is terrific and I've been a fan since Follow for Now. His self-titled album was super underappreciated and still rules. And that Brand New Immortals EP! Always amazing guitar work and tone.
We are a strange bunch indeed. DRH is a true saint. One love
Awesome! DRH is a national treasure...been a fan since Follow For Now.
Same! Got to see FFN on tour, and they blew me away!
Thanks David, for praising John. The whole community loves him.
One of the most underrated players out there today. Totally agreed on the Prism, such a great tone shaping boost.
He isn't underrated. Anyone who knows who he is rates him very highly.
So happy to see Frank Bros get some love!
WOW! He had me at that intro tune!
RIP that local pickup maker not getting a shoutout lol
As someone who lives in Atlanta and is looking for a replacement humbucker, I missed that too lol
They have been closed since 2014 anyway. Mullinax? Very unobtanium I presume. Arcane will get you close to these or Lollar Novel.
I thought they looked like Avedissian pickups.@@wolvesandguitars
In the linked "Full Rig Details" above, the article says they are: Mullinax “Oh, Salvation” P-90. They sound awesome, for sure.
He gate keepin
7:30 Drops the pick and John has to chase it down before it leaves the building 😂
they do be doin' that tho, lol.
Thanks for doing these. DRH was a surprise for me to see here, but greatly appreciated. A true Gent.
Glad you enjoyed it
David is a serious talent. Lots of vids available. Do the dive!!
met him in AZ memorial weekend w/ his fam. great people and tone
Loved this guy since Follow For Now days - great seeing him featured on here
Can't wait for the next one with Ryan Lerman!!!! Loved this one❤
16:32 damn.. rare Jeff Buckley reference (song: So real)
YES!
LOVE IT!!
That guitar looks AWESOME!
Bought the CooperFX Outward V2 after watching this video. Maybe it was an impulse buy but it sounds so cool and there were only two listed on Reverb. Can't wait to play it.
Find someone who looks at you the way John's looking at David during the intro. Great rundown gents!
What a talent!!!
One of the very best, enjoyed this one. Thanks
Awesome, thank you!
Cool! Now i need a Sharkey Rig Rundown!
Awesome
That guitar sounds and looks amazing. David is a great player/songwriter. The Frank brothers know how to make a guitar. I wish I could afford one… I’d buy two.
Enjoyed this one the most so far. Thanks for posting.
Loved this so much! I’ve been a fan of the channel forever and Rig Rundown and would love for you guys to do more black guitarist please.
We got a new episode with Kingfish coming out in December and are filming with Buffalo Nichols next month!
@@premierguitar Nice!!! Looking forward to it!! 🫱🏼🫲🏾🫱🏼🫲🏾🫱🏼🫲🏾
Racism is trendy. ANYONE that's good is all that matters.
John B. is the man the Eric Gales is out of this world
@@Stereostupid loved the Eric video. He’s in my top 5 favorite guitarist ever for sure lol
David bought a piano from me for one of his children. Around 2016. Genuinely nice man.
DRH has amazing tone and he seems like just a down to earth guy. Great Rig Rundown.
The "that's what she said got me".
Ive been a fan of David Ryan Harris since Follow For Now!
Love Frank Brothers Guitar Co. Have an Arcade that is just perfect. Super versatile and David's pedal board fits the want to strip down to the basics with an instrument like his. Love it!
Try Amalfitano pickups. Love their P90's!
What an amazing and unique player!
Great episode!🎸🔥🔥
I’ve been looking at frank bros guitars for a while, they look like great instruments. So cool to see one in a rig rundown!
Bring your extra large wallet lol. 😊
Dope! Waiting on that Kelley’s Hero’s rundown!!
12/20/23
I don't know about you guys, but I caught the "That's what she said.". 🤣😂
The guitar looks like how the Gibson Theodore should have looked, I actually thought it was a revamped Theodore.
Those Frank Brothers guitars are soooooooooo good looking. I need one!
Anyone notice he snuck in a “That’s what she said” at 15:28 🤣
This man has it figured out. Great stuff.
love that guitar tone!!!
At first I thought John had a wireless earpiece in and imagined Chris "Always Prepared" Keys yelling "Ask about the picks, ask about the picks!" Turns out it's just an earplug.😉
Love DRH. Thanks for this!
Overdue, love DRH! Love his setup, but we need the Mayer setup too!

Fralin noiseless alnico neck and fralin noiseles p90 bridge… perfect combo. Call and talk to Lindy and he’ll point you in the right direction
Never heard of this dude, ( part of the reason I watch) but he sounded pretty good. Thanks PG!
He plays with john mayer. He's pretty good.
If he's using the pick i think he's talking about, then I love those! i use the dunlop purple 2.0 big and stubby, feels perfect for me
Follow For Now!
@premierguitar what happened to the Ryan Adams rig rundown?
Great rundown!!!!!
o man, DRH's pedal config is the best!
❤❤❤
Love David’s board, he got an amazing voice and cool songs too as Shelter, Sweetest berry, So is mine n so on, im happy to see him using the Jhs Madison vibrato, super dope that second pedal after the prism. G.A.S. Mode on here haha.
oh, oh we're going in now.
I'm a guitar player in Atlanta, and there's a local pickup maker called Avedissian Pickups that makes a humbucker sized p90 like that
Such a great rundown! When is the Unknown Mortal Orchestra one coming out?
11/29
Avedissian pickups in Atlanta.
Been a fan since Brand New Immortals (which if you have not heard that PLEASE DO)
That Cooper FX pedal was really interesting. Cant believe John was stumped on a Browne Amplification Protein pedal that is pretty ubiquitous on at least higher end boards.
That's what she said. 😂
Nice Jeff Buckley nod!
I’m often surprised when John isn’t familiar with gear like the Browne Protein. Or even Cooper FX. Still love ya, John!
@johnbolinger I'd have loved to hear his approach to using the Iridium as opposed to his amp and also his use of the Cooper pedal so early in the chain especially before the Brown protein, otherwise a great rig rundown.

ATL Heaux!! My homie.
Casually says, "I played with Richie sambora for a while." Legend!
very nice! I heard you did a rundown with Mike Watt. hope to see that soon
@johnbolinger rockin’ the cowlick 🤟
Could you do an Arctic Monkeys rig rundown when they next tour?
Frank Bros sells itself
Uouuu,David 👏👏👏🎙️🎙️🇧🇷
That’s what she said 😂😂😂
Haha! This made me question my memory a bit; I'm quite sure John Bohlinger made my favorite review of the Prism years ago. I assume that was part of the script. 😊
so that outward pedal is similar to the chase bliss mood?
I thought the p90s on his Frank Bros was his signature p90s from Lambertones pickups, that will be cool.
dropping a bit of Buckley to show off Flint. choice move
Do we get to see that big John Mayer looking board over there on the right side with the Centaur, the H9, and Flint?
A little slower and deeper !!
New silhouette? Looks mostly like a Gretsch double jet, doesn’t it? 🤔
Does anybody know where one could get their hands on the Mullinax "Oh Salvation" P90s that are in David's Ultra Light?
What? No DRHive? Would love to know what circuit the overdrive side of that beast was based on…!
Anyone know where you can buy those kind of pedalboards?
Cheers!

JOhn, we share the cowlick thing.
Where do you get those double decker hinged pedal boards?

That’s what she said. 15:23
I'm going to guess that those p90s are Avedissian pickups?
Mullinax
Throw that over modulated Wable JHS in the can . All is Cool Man 💫
that’s what she said
Anyone know the make of the tiered pedal board?

How dare David wip out Jeff Buckley like that
Jackass designs -- NAILED IT!
Looks like mcnelly pickups.
Mullinax “Oh, Salvation” P-90 pickups
Great guitar...starts at $6,000.00 USD!!...
stainy
Frank brothers...huh
