I was in Germany for two weeks and this radio was perfect for the situation. ETM is a must-have feature and with the crowded FM band, this radio has superb separation on adjacent channels. (Sounds good, too!)
Another good point for those types of radios is sometimes you may want to monitor what's going on but not be putting out a signal to communicate where others could find you.
Great review of the SW radio. Already have it in my wish list. I have 3 of the Baofeng radios, we use them on our hunting trips but I have one on my EDC bag. Being an Amateur Radio operator I am very familiar with handheld radios, mobile units and HF rigs used to talk across the country or world wide. Amateur Radio (ham radio) license are very easy to get now and I would recommend anyone to get a study manual, study up and take the required tests. No more do you need to learn the morse code, that was eliminated several years ago. Of course I had to learn it to get my HF privileges, I have been a Amateur Radio operator since the mid 90's and at that time it was required. Of course if everything goes south, it probably doesn't matter if you have a license or not. But if you get it now and get familiar with radio communications, building portable antennas and understand how it is done you will be set in an emergency situation.
+Living Survival i have been able to regularly pick up China Radio from Beijing and the furthest was a broadcast from the South Pacific. I normally listen to broadcasts from all over the USA and Radio Havana... its a great hobby.
Awesome video LS. Shortwave capability is critical to survival. Like you said it doesn't have to be expensive anymore. IMHO shortwave becomes relevant in two different scenarios. A regional grid down emergency, or a scenario where one wants to validate news from local sources, with news from beyond the borders. SW is the awesome :)
Just as a side note to this, for others just finding this: At this time sun and atmospheric conditions are not good for listening to Short Wave, Doesn’t mean there’s nothing out there. There’s plenty. As conditions improve, it will be better. ( Most All Tecsun Short Wave Radios come with a “Long-wire” antenna to clip to the whip antenna. This will help a lot)
those small shortwave radios are the bomb! I have one and used it in the middle of nowhere and was able to pickup international radio to listen to when there was no hope of getting AM or FM. For Australia you can google "radio Australia" to get some English stations.
that's awesome, I wanna take my radio into the wilderness too and see what I can catch from there. I already caught some station from Turkey as well as from Japan during the early am hours on the north american west coast. I'm sure I'll catch some other great ones out in the wilderness.
I bought a Tecsun on Amazon that also receives SSB for HF amateur radio transmissions. You should probably emphasize that for all but the most powerful shortwave stations, a long wire external antenna is needed.
The good thing about Tecsun is that they have radios in every price range. They make high quality radios. I like my PL390, which has a bigger AM antenna than this one shown here, but is about $60.oo. I also have a PL600 and PL660,as well as a couple of others. Kaito.US has all the Tecsun radios all in English, and also handle all the warranty issues for Kaito and Tecsun. They are really good to deal with, too. ‘‘This is an excellent review. Lots of good info. 📻👍🙂‼️
I have a G3 grundig..or also sold by RS...and it is a great radio...and it has a BFO to which of course helps on the LSB and USB reception....great video..
Hey man! What a great video. I came to youtube looking for a review/tutorial for how to use my new radio and stumbled upon your video. I got this radio as a birthday gift since my dad and granddad used to listen to sw radio back in the day and I've always wanted to try it and have one myself. I also got some inspiration to get one from the 90's movie called ''contact'' with Jodie Foster which I highly recommend. I was mainly looking at my radio as an entertainment tool for listening to radio stations from all around the world but I'm thankful that from your video I've come to realize how helpful it'd be to have a lil radio like this in the case of an emergency. I'm on the west coast of Canada and was able to listen to radio Nikkei which is in Japan around 12:30 am Pacific time. Thanks for the great video!
During a bad storm. I set a small tent. From that small tent. I set up a message center. with a car battery and cb. Also a big notepad and my 310et so i had a drop and pick up. Service. I was kept up with food and drink. It payed for its selfe. tks
Nice job and excellent recommendation. I have a couple of these small Tecsun radios and they have good performance for their price or any price. Even if you are only interested in AM and FM and not shortwave you can't go wrong with this radio because FM reception with its DPS is about as good as it gets. And AM reception is much better than average given its size. I like that the reviewer mentioned censorship that can happen with the internet. While shortwave currently can be difficult for finding listening material of interest that will completely change when/if censorship becomes a problem. Shortwave radios would then be hard to come by. Get them now while you can. If you can afford a more expensive radio get one with SSB for listening to Amature radio. Getting several of them is wise and these small Tecsun radios are a no brainer.
Living Survival - the built in Telescoping antenna is ONLY for FM. to get better Shortwave/HF reception you need a Clip on Long Wire antenna from sangean or Tecsun.
this is good to know. I've been able to catch some stations with the built in antenna already. I just got this radio exaclty a week ago but now I think Ill be getting the extra antenna so I can listen to even more stations and with less static. thanks for the info
Nice radio to get. I like the fact that is small, travel size and seems comfortable. I own the Voyager Kaito KA500 solar& crank radio set at my home. Nice review 👍
Wish I had seen this sooner. Got the ambient weather adventurer 2 model already. It takes a standard 18650 battery with the "solar panel" and hand crank. Gets the same frequencies with similar features.. Charges with a mini usb. Aside from the off grid charging stuff (it takes 4+ days in perfect sun to charge a dead 3400 mAh battery), it has the weather channels preset for scanning. It's a lot bigger and costs $30 more.
Depending on the external antenna and the particular frequency band you can also pick up what's called slow-scan television images and data modes like PSK31. You just have to pipe the audio to another device like an iPad / iPhone or an Android device.
Another great find Ben! Compact and well laid out. AA NiMH batteries which I'm already carrying.. Looks perfect for my backpacking adventures, something excellent to hear sitting on the side of the mountain beside my fire. I think I'm gonna name mine the "Art Bell" Thanks for posting.
I got mine just a few days ago. Good bye sleeping:) I tune into strange stations and then I try to identify/compare them to the internet lists. Anyway, there's another reason to include such small, light radio in your but out bag - those three AA batteries it takes are supposed to last for two to three months.
Just went through hurricane Irma. Lost power, and internet. I've had Short Wave for decades. We used one during the storm. Power back on now. We found the S.W. very handy.🙂!
Thanks buddy. Did about four hours of research and came up with this over CountyComm's GP-5 SSB. That would have been $89 shipped with 2-5 day shipping while this was $39 plus the Sangean ANT-60 Short Wave Antenna for $12.
+Living Survival it's a simple 25 foot wound cord antenna which helps bring in FM and SW. Most people run it out a window and up a tree if possible. Also, another main function is to reduce or eliminate interference from RF equipment in the office like computers, screens, and power bricks.
+Living Survival Here's part of an Amazon review which was helpful for me. "This antenna is great for improving weak shortwave signals. It can make a faint signal listenable. As an example, listening to VOA on 17895 kHz from Botswana, with only my Grundig radio's whip antenna, I could not make much out. But with the ANT-60 the signal improved remarkably and I could copy enough to write a reception report, and received a QSL card from VOA verifying I'd heard their Botswana transmitter. It will *not* do much to improve a fairly good signal, but definitely improves weaker ones." Cheers
The PL310/ET doesn't cope with long antennas. 6m/20ft is plenty, any more & it overloads badly from adjacent strong sigs. I used a PL310 across the Pacific as a "representative" HF radio for gauging typical reception from a short telescopic whip antenna and it worked great with Radio Australia & RNZI at ranges 1000-6000 km.
40 bucks ? Really nice. Here in my Country it costs $ 400, unfortunately expensive. And I really wanted a bigger radio with better audio, better SW filters and sensitivity. Thanks.
There's a video on you tube showing a guy getting an SSB amateur channel filtering through on 7100 mhz SW due to overload of frequently . Does this work on any other radio on 7100 without SSB or BFO enabling .
Baofeng radios are extremely affordable- Mine a. Bf-uv10r is Really a tri- band , it really does WAY More than advertised, for the money, I'll probably get another- I've currently have 3 TecSun radios, Good radios-I reccomend getting Hi-Cap Rechargeable batteries off internet- I used Walmart, their shipping is usually fast, the only problem sometimes with delivery carriers- Anyway, I'm 68 yrs., old, and live in north side of Chicago, Ide like to put up a outside di-pole or just a wire, but may be problematic- I remember Allied radio, their wonderful kits- This is how we learned soldering and electronics- I wish someone would bring back those kits, I beleive they would sell - Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but, young kids get everything already made dumped in their laps- there's something to be said for hands on learning- Anyway, get these radios while you can, as I beleive very soon, they will. Become much harder to come by - Also, aquire some 1n34a Diodes - Capicators you can make if you have to - HAPPY DX-ING ! 3'S
This indeed works very well in emergency (in practical emergency). just make sure to get SW wire antenna. i use cheap from ali (AN-80), worked fine. PS hope i wont have to test in nuclear blast.
Hey Coach, why wouldn't you add one more aspect of prepping/emergency and get a crank version on this!? I have the Kaito pro 600A, for $70 worth the piece of mind? Do you preffer non crank radios?
Living Survival Kaito has brought their quality up considerably in the past few years. I got a KA500 for my mom. She’s in Gainesville Florida. When the last hurricane came through, all the local tv and radio stations SHUT DOWN ‼️ they came back on the air AFTER the storm passed.😐❗️ C.Crain , Sangean, and Tecsun also make excellent emergency radios.
My city and the city I work in move to a newer much more expensive Motorola Type II Smartnet technology which totally blows for me considering how much more expensive it is for that type II equipment.
Just missed the most important part: You stop talking and show the radio working so we see what the reception and sound quality of it is. The time you spent showing both HT and the cell phone could have used it.
Tecsun Pl 660 e sua aventura nas ondas do rádio. The PL310 is a less expensive radio. It is a fine radio. The PL 600, PL660, PL680 are very similar to each other. They are bigger and have all of the same features as the PL310, and PL380, But has more features, Including Single Side Band(SSB). Also have bigger internal AM antenna, so AM reception is also better. All are excellent. Also the PL390 (PL398) Are nice as well.(but no SSB)
PL 210 was my favorite...when they dis continued it I bought 6 of them...Down to 3 now though. I use my radios daily at work , so i put alot of wear and tear on them..3 have died after about 2+ yrs of service... Does anyone know a good replacement? has to be the same size as the PL-210 (and the 310 is about the same) to fit in my pocket I have tried to use the PL-310 and it doesn't get near the reception on AM that I need in the concrete building I work in...and I didn't like the Tuning methods...The 210 was and still is the best small pocket sized Tecsun made (well...that was made ...) (I also have the Tecsun 660...that's a power house...Bigger and better...Lasted me 7 yrs. so far)
wildbillo68 Tecsun makes so many different radios. The one i like the best is the PL390. I also like the PL660. Since you use yours a lot, I would suggest you break down and get something like the PL660,or PL600. They are made just a little better. Or if you can swing it, The CCSkywaveSSB is an awesome radio. Or a Sangean ats405. The C.Crane is a pocket size.
Living Survival - I like TECSUN radios, but this model Lacks SSB and a Selectable Tuner, your Reception can be Interfeared with a Strong AM/FM local signal, and if you are trying to DX (long Distance) then the Receiver is just NOT Sensitive enough to make out VERY Distant transmissions. the TECSUN PL-880 has Almost everything one would need, except for the ICOM R-30 which is better, and a MORE compact radio.
FoxTube there’s also the PL-680. (And the PL880- for a bit more, but uses only the rechargeable battery). The best is the C.Crane CCSkywaveSSB, But a bit pricey.
If I understood correctly Banggood ships from China. For 18 cents more you can ship from the US and get the radio faster: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0104J57GS
Living Survival I need your advice between this two which do you think gas getter sound www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01EEZH4ZK/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478472523&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Am+radio+bluetooth+speaker&dpPl=1&dpID=51MGKGHsOJL&ref=plSrch and the www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0065QGQN8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478472648&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=tecsun+bluetooth&dpPl=1&dpID=51%2BnhrIDUkL&ref=plSrch
+Ryan Holmes I use scanner radio which will let you pick up police, fire and ems around the world. I also use live atc which I can pick up air traffic controllers. There are apps for radio and internet radio as well.
little woody Unfortunately Sony no longer makes Short Wave radios. C.Crane, Sangean are fantastic radios but usually a bit pricey. Eton is still making them, though they are phasing out the Grundig brand. Some like Tivdeo. Lots of good reviews on them. I do not own one.
Emergency Broadcast Network (1630kHz) Zombie Apocalypse. If your hearing this, and not at a safe zone, head north. And if your a doctor, or military we need HELP!!! There are people in Toronto. There are survivors at Mercy Hospital. Come join us...
Living Survival - Ummmm, Shortwave Radios DONT Broadcast anything, they are Simply Receivers, they can Receive Shortwave transmissions from HAM's and International Shortwave Broadcasters. you need a HAM License to Broadcast anything on the HAM SW bands and you need a Extra Class license to transmit LEGALLY. IF you get a HAM License you can get a Shortwave/HF Tranceiver that can do both Receive and Transmit. and the Future ICOM IC-705 Qrp Tranceiver can do it all in a Portable package and has the Benefit of being a SDR Shortwave/HF transceiver. it can even be Battery powered by a HT radio battery and has a Backpack and a extended battery.
KD2NOA Edward Martz Agreed. Tecsun makes pretty high quality radios, and now all warranty issues are taken care of here in the States ( “ Kaito.US”) and they are really great there. They can also do non-warranty repairs at very fair price.🙂
Living Survival - NOPE, if they can Censor the Internet, THEY can also JAM radio transmissions from Reception as well as Transmission. in WWII a High Altitude nuclear test resulted in a Worldwide communications Blackout (EMP). it would be a Simple matter of launching Several LOW yield NUKES to blackout communications for MONTHS at a time, over the Entire USA. and the Military (USA and Foreign) also have Dedicated jamming vehicles that can be Deployed for jamming communications and even Television. also, our Military has the capability of Disabling the GPS we use, meanwhile preserving the Military GPS capability for Precision strikes.
Did you really say......Get an Emergency Radio in case communications break down? Is not Short wave considered a communication....pretty much all radio broadcast? These radios will make good paper weights when the SHTF your talking of hits town & all radio transmissions are halted....
Joe Raylon That is exactly why a Short Wave Radio is good. When all local communications is down, night time long distance AM, and (day and night)Short Wave, will all you may have‼️
Living Survival - Scanner Apps are garbage, you don't have full coverage and the playback times out , limiting how much of a Transmission you get. you are Better off with a Digital Trunking scanner or a Wideband Communications Receiver. and I can set up my Whistler TRX-1 with a scanner APP and I can access the scanner even when i'm on the Road, though Reception is better in your Vehicle when Mobile.
Living Survival - who uses NiMh batteries in 2019 ? they don't last long and they take forever to fully charge. today and for several years, People have switched to LION battery, they can hold a Larger charge, charge fast and Last more than a Year in Storage with ONE charge.
This is an absolutely terrible radio for AM reception. What a ripoff. I made the mistake of buying this piece of junk. I have a Grundig G6 Aviator and even a simple headset radio with a one inch ferrite antenna that blows this garbage away. I hate Chinese junk!
Living Survival - the BaoFeng radios are a POOR replacement for a Modern Digital Scanner or a Wideband Communications Receiver like a ICOM R-30. as many Public Safety are migrating to Digital (NXDN) and other services as well, this MEANS the BaoFeng is of little use as they cannot do Digital Transmissions nor can they Trunktrack. even, IF you can only afford ONE Receiver, you are better off with a ICOM R-30 that covers 100 khz - 3300 Mhz continoius with ZERO gaps in Coverage, I can Monitor even my Neighbor baby monitor, cordless phones , wireless intercom and even Garage or Doorbell transmitters. IF you get a HAM License , you can communicate Durring normal times and Emergency BOTH. IF you are Planning on Relying on BaoFeng as a backup communications then YOU are seriously out of touch with Reality. the Lisensed HAMs are just going to LOCK you out of their Repeaters by changing their CODE, and ONLY the HAMs in a Network will have the Proper CODE to unlock the REPEATER.
I was in Germany for two weeks and this radio was perfect for the situation. ETM is a must-have feature and with the crowded FM band, this radio has superb separation on adjacent channels. (Sounds good, too!)

+xCreepyKidsx Yep
My last shortwave, a Grundig, is on the bottom of the Vermillion river somewhere...
I think you just sold me a new one.
ETON now owns Grundig and sells Shortwave under their ETON brand.
also, Tecsun is quite good as well.

Short & simple but to the point.. Thanks.. I just got my PL-310ET today & your video really helped a lot in understanding its features & functions...😀
This looks like a great radio, I listen to my Tecsun pl380 & pl880 everyday. I can't recommend having a shortware capability enough... great video.

GREAT VID!! Shortwave Radio can be better than FM/AM radio's .
Great video Ben! Very affordable radio. I have an Eton wind up in my 72 Hour bag but it's just AM/FM. This would definitely be a step up!
Nice radio to get. I like the fact that is small, travel size and seems comfortable. I own the Voyager Kaito KA500 solar& crank radio set at my home. Nice review 👍
+Carlos Sepulveda Nice. A crank radio is also a good option. I can charge AA/AAA with solar so I opted to sell my crank radio.
Carlos Sepulveda
The Kaito KA500 is an excellent radio for the price.
Great piece of gear to have in your preps! If ever get a good steady pace of money, I may get one. Thank you for this review!

The only issue here is that the 310 doesn't use ssb. Most of the sstv are on ssb ham bands.

Hello. My PL-310ET came to me with the frequency in MW of 522 - 1620 KHz. I don't know how to change it to 520 - 1710 KHz. Some help?
Excellent video - Thank you - just purchased one
Radio newb here. Aside from FM is the SW, MW and LW all AM? But AM "broadcast" is the MW? Short wave travels further distance? So what is LW for??
This indeed works very well in emergency (in practical emergency).
just make sure to get SW wire antenna. i use cheap from ali (AN-80), worked fine.
PS hope i wont have to test in nuclear blast.
Great review.
Hi
It is possible to operate the radio without batteries.
Only with a charger
Power supply: USB 5V / 250mA external adapter
Can you change the radio station interference filter on FM? I was thinking of buying one of these.
Hey Coach, why wouldn't you add one more aspect of prepping/emergency and get a crank version on this!? I have the Kaito pro 600A, for $70 worth the piece of mind? Do you preffer non crank radios?
+Drock97266 i used to have a crank radio but the quality of cranks is really low IMO.
Living Survival
Kaito has brought their quality up considerably in the past few years.
I got a KA500 for my mom. She’s in Gainesville Florida.
When the last hurricane came through, all the local tv and radio stations SHUT DOWN ‼️ they came back on the air AFTER the storm passed.😐❗️
C.Crain , Sangean, and Tecsun also make excellent emergency radios.
Drock97266 Degen CY-1 or Tivdio HR-11S.
thanks
can you please provide more information about the rwo walk talky type ham radios shown in the video.
thanks
My city and the city I work in move to a newer much more expensive Motorola Type II Smartnet technology which totally blows for me considering how much more expensive it is for that type II equipment.
+John Doe Yeah some are blocked.
Looks like my Sony ICF-7600DS which I purchased in Akihabara in the late 80s.
+sagewanderer Yeah great radio.
Just missed the most important part: You stop talking and show the radio working so we see what the reception and sound quality of it is. The time you spent showing both HT and the cell phone could have used it.
Is Tecsun 310 ET better than Tecsun PL 660 in your opinion? Thanks.
Tecsun Pl 660 e sua aventura nas ondas do rádio.
The PL310 is a less expensive radio. It is a fine radio.
The PL 600, PL660, PL680 are very similar to each other. They are bigger and have all of the same features as the PL310, and PL380,
But has more features,
Including Single Side Band(SSB). Also have bigger internal AM antenna, so AM reception is also better.
All are excellent.
Also the PL390 (PL398)
Are nice as well.(but no SSB)
@@jeffking4176 Thanks for the answer Jeff. 73.
PL 210 was my favorite...when they dis continued it I bought 6 of them...Down to 3 now though. I use my radios daily at work , so i put alot of wear and tear on them..3 have died after about 2+ yrs of service...
Does anyone know a good replacement? has to be the same size as the PL-210 (and the 310 is about the same) to fit in my pocket
I have tried to use the PL-310 and it doesn't get near the reception on AM that I need in the concrete building I work in...and I didn't like the Tuning methods...The 210 was and still is the best small pocket sized Tecsun made (well...that was made ...)
(I also have the Tecsun 660...that's a power house...Bigger and better...Lasted me 7 yrs. so far)
wildbillo68
Tecsun makes so many different radios.
The one i like the best is the PL390. I also like the PL660.
Since you use yours a lot, I would suggest you break down and get something like the PL660,or PL600.
They are made just a little better.
Or if you can swing it,
The CCSkywaveSSB
is an awesome radio.
Good to know, thanks!
Great presentation thank you
Tnx for posting this video, nice job..... LM
can I use usb 5 volt 2 amp power bank to power this radio. should battery then be removed.
cool...next item on my list. You should get a Yaesu ft -817nd and broadcast to your subs from the wilderness .:) cheers from hell de janeiro
+LEGALIZE CONSTITUTION BR HAHA
When you turn the radio off and back on, does it continue on the station you left off on?
polaris911 Yes
that's a pretty good radio
+jose diaz Agreed.
Could this pick up the 49mhz range? If not, what's the cheapest way to do this? Asking for a friend...
bobby6129 The 50MHz can be tuned on Happy CS-106 (via FM button) and Tivdio/Retekess V-111 (via Favorite button).
Need one that support SSB....as most armatures operator use this mode......
Tecsun PL-600 supprots SSB (USB), but is almost double expansive.
FoxTube
PL-600 is a great radio.
I have one. Also the PL660.
Jeff King I think the PL-600 and at all the PL-660 is worth to buy. I think about to buy a 660 too.
FoxTube there’s also the PL-680. (And the PL880- for a bit more, but uses only the rechargeable battery).
The best is the C.Crane
CCSkywaveSSB, But a bit pricey.
Tecsun 600 series or better gest you SSB.
If I understood correctly Banggood ships from China. For 18 cents more you can ship from the US and get the radio faster: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0104J57GS
+This Trip of Mine Just depends on the warehouse but yes. Always recommend shopping around.
tecsun pl398bt can you review this model I need to know how the Bluetooth sounds if it's good enough to replace my Bluetooth speaker
nice, i might try that one.
Living Survival I need your advice between this two which do you think gas getter sound www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01EEZH4ZK/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1478472523&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Am+radio+bluetooth+speaker&dpPl=1&dpID=51MGKGHsOJL&ref=plSrch and the www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0065QGQN8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478472648&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=tecsun+bluetooth&dpPl=1&dpID=51%2BnhrIDUkL&ref=plSrch
LW BAND NOT SHOW IN TECSUN RADIO WHAT I DO
Nice, thanks for the review
How do you set radio alarm volume on it?
Why not spend little more and get shortwave with ssb for kit so then you can listen to ham radio operators, military etc.... ????
Any recommendations on brand/model?
Living Survival can't go wrong with a tecsun pl-660 or countyComm GP-5 SSB (great size radio)
A hair cut is a great thing to have in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
+Paracord Artistry lol
Ordered one.
Is there any shortwave radio with recording function?
Debojit Acharjee Yes! There are several. Some are very inexpensive. (Try Universal Radio Inc.).
Tecsun makes several now, so does Kaito, and Tivdeo.
Jeff King Also Degen radios
Would a CB radio produce the same effect as this?
+U1T1MATR1X cb radio can only receive cb band.
Living Survival would a small all mode hand held scanner be more sensitive and better all rounder than these little radios?
thanks once agine
What happened to the mop?!
+sean john Starting over LOL
+Living Survival haha nice
Cool radidio.
+MI Timberwookie affordable too!
Wht are the apps that let pick up communications?
+Ryan Holmes I use scanner radio which will let you pick up police, fire and ems around the world. I also use live atc which I can pick up air traffic controllers. There are apps for radio and internet radio as well.
+Living Survival ok thanks. Great video btw
Can i listen to The ”UVB-76” at 4625.Khz On USB mode at This Radio? Please answer!
I have Katio radio it's not that great . Are the Sony better radio Ben ?
+better buck beagles michigan Sony makes a couple good models. At least they used to.
Thanks Ben .
little woody
Unfortunately Sony no longer makes Short Wave radios.
C.Crane, Sangean are fantastic radios but usually a bit pricey.
Eton is still making them, though they are phasing out the Grundig brand.
Some like Tivdeo.
Lots of good reviews on them. I do not own one.
Jeff King The Grundig brand also “Eton” .
Emergency Broadcast Network (1630kHz) Zombie Apocalypse. If your hearing this, and not at a safe zone, head north. And if your a doctor, or military we need HELP!!! There are people in Toronto. There are survivors at Mercy Hospital. Come join us...
no
And youre not cannibals either
screwball
Looks like a CCrane, CC Skywave knockoff (or maybe a legal clone).
+EmergentBehavior Looks similar but certainly not any more similar than other radios.
EmergentBehavior To be fair, the Pl-310 is 1/2 the price. Tecsun is always worth the China risk.
KD2NOA Edward Martz
Agreed. Tecsun makes pretty high quality radios, and now all warranty issues are taken care of here in the States ( “ Kaito.US”)
and they are really great there.
Found SSB
Did you really say......Get an Emergency Radio in case communications break down? Is not Short wave considered a communication....pretty much all radio broadcast? These radios will make good paper weights when the SHTF your talking of hits town & all radio transmissions are halted....
Joe Raylon
That is exactly why a Short Wave Radio is good. When all local communications is down, night time long distance AM, and (day and night)Short Wave, will all you may have‼️
hello
+marco sanchez helo
