The red car at sandy knows more than likely didn't pay any attention to the lights and hasn't realised that it's a light controlled roundabout. Also the woman with a pram has obviously walked past the pedestrian crossing behind you on the Ormeau Rd and hasn't bothered walking to the one at the next junction either fair play as I wouldn't have stopped to let her cross its a pet hate of mine especially when they cross the road directly in front off or behind pedestrian crossings and then they look all disgruntled when I haven't stopped to let them cross the road.

If I had been going quicker I wouldn't have stopped but as I hadn't really built any momentum I thought I'd give her a by ball that day lol

Oh and as for the car at Sandyknowes.......I was thinking about it after posting the video and I thought maybe they saw the red light for the traffic coming from the right and thought it was for them.

To be fair the spanish guy could have thought that was a crossing with the barriers in the middle. I would be more pissed off at the idiots taking a wean across that road in a pram than the driver.

I agree on both counts. On the continent pedestrians have right off way at a lot of crossing like that. Its what he was maybe trained to do. Just not the case over here. I've seen cars racing down off Craigyhill (the junction to the left) and they are so busy watching traffic on the roundabout they wouldn't have seen him stopped like that.

      Obviously you never drove trucks

What you might call nitpicking, I call lack of preparation and awareness of other road users, especially HGV's which can lead to a serious accident if just one other road user isn't paying full attention. I would say almost 100% of everything you see in my videos goes against the highway code and the majority of things would see you possibly prosecuted for driving without due care and attention if done in front of a police officer who's on the ball.

Nice example of middle lane hogging by you and the truck in front from 1:08 to 1:33. No wonder the car drivers were having problems.

Its common practice for all trucks to use the middle lane as the left hand lane has numerous slip roads leaving and joining plus eventually becomes a left hand turn lane. If we were to stay in the left lane we could hamper the flow of traffic as we go slower. Staying in the middle lane keeps the traffic flowing better. This has been confirmed by police to be good practice in the past.

@@NITrucker I drive a lot on the Westlink/M1 southbound. I hope you can appreciate how frustrating it is to see a line of slow moving trucks staying in the middle lane all the way from Divis Street to the turn-off at Balmoral, and to be forced to either undertake (illegal) or try to reach the outer lane by filtering between them. I presume that the same police who condone this will also turn a blind eye as I drive along the inside lane at the legal limit, flashing my headlights in the hope that the truck drivers see me.

If the lorry is going to want to move to the left lane he will see you even if you're not flashing your lights. If you're driving the legal speed limit while undertaking a slower moving vehicle that is an accepted practice also. It is safer and quicker for the lorry to be in the middle lane on this particular section of road. The police would not care about you driving safely while undertaking a lorry which is also driving safely. Hundreds of lorries a day do this and I've never heard of a single one being prosecuted for it.

@@NITrucker Well I’m sure that if a truck driver moves to the inside lane and hits my car because he failed to see me, his first defence will be that I was illegally undertaking. And despite what you say, I’m also sure that the police and my insurance company would see it that way.

Its irrelevant if you could be deemed to be making an illegal manoeuvre or not. He could say he was overtaking you and then you sped up when he went to move back. If he fails to check the lane is clear before moving back and he hits you then he is 100% at fault. At the end of the day what you're saying is all hypothetical but doesn't change the fact that lorries being in the middle lane on this section of road IS safer and DOES help with traffic flow.
