Loved this since the 70's. Possibly the best song from their best album. Quite an outlier in their discography though. I guess I'm not the biggest fan of all synths - all instrumental... Now about "typical" 70's prog you might confuse the typicality with prog-fusion. Most typical prog was meticulously composed (in Sweden we even used to call it symphony rock because it was often carefully composed "works" with much linear writing). There has been quite some occurrences of improvisation with some classic prog bands, but usually more as a playful spice in a few tracks or even just as for live variety. When prog meets fusion it's a different game of course. Tangerine Dream counted as kraut rock at the time, a contemporary German movement related to prog.
Definitly an odd album for Tangerine Dream and I don't think it has gained nearly the same status as the earlier, purely instrumental albums. I personally like the mix of their typical synth-based music and elements from progressive rock.
I LOVE your thumbnail. 🤣🧡🧡🧡🧡👍💙🎼🎵🎶🎶🎶
Cyclone is definitely an outlier album in their canon, but I freaking love it, it's so damn weird!

We still need a week of Kraut Rock. I've been interested in it and think I'd need the full week exposure to make it click.
Wow I knew about them but never really listened. This song is so good. Is it right for me to get some Pink Floyd vibes ?
checkout Force Majeure - far better
More than 'some', their most Floyd'ish track, in fact. And one of the very few featuring vocals (not very good imo).
I mean, how haven't people asked for an Absolute Elsewhere reaction yet?

good stuff
Atypical TD - Steve Jolliffe said the first side, including this, is more or less all his ideas
You should checkout Ricochet
