The King statue is far better -you are right. Both figures a great but the alien king base is far better...the alien pack crawl out of the hive looks great.
I reluctantly say King. I want to say Queen just because of the sheer fact that the movie is one of the best, but you guys convinced me. The base, color, and the inaccurate scale of the eggs on the Queen's base did it for me.
I prefer the king xenomorph the holes at the bottom it looks like the warriors are coming out the holes and are about to go to war that's there home the holes and eggs.but the Queen it looks like its token over a factory 😅 at the bottom of the queen there's the metal pole and the rest of the metal. There both good but I prefer the king.
Great review guys. Overall, I think Carolina hit all the points when comparing these two. Next to Darth Vader, the Alien Queen is the most intense Science Fiction Character created. But the King takes this contest. Too many missed opportunities with the Queen. The King's Statue is so fluid and tells a story. All the Xenos are running out of the hole ready for a hunt or attack while the King calmly follows. I like the Queen's Pose more. Its like a defensive posture. However, the xenos on her piece are just standing there. They look more like decorations. Sideshow could have certainly done a better job with the paint application (we all know they can) but what bothers me just as much are the face huggers. I really don't like how they're sculpted within the eggs. It looks like they're a part of it. Closed eggs would have worked better. The Alien Queen is legendary and for that price, it's not bad, but it should have turned out better.
@bigphatpaulie Thanks for the compliments. I agree with you, I wish they had just kept the eggs closed and left out the facehuggers. All told, the Queen is still a great statue that could have been much better.
I have three main issues with the King design. 1.) It is shaped too much like the queen in that its limbs are a little bit too thin. I can understand it being much heavier and, therefore, needing to walk hunched over like a t.rex, but the limbs are relatively thinner and more spindly than a regular warrior alien when it ought to be slightly heavier built, more powerful like it was designed to fight. For example, Prodos made an altered version of this design for their tabletop game, and it looks a lot stronger. 2.) The ridged look and theme are overused in the design, and like the general look of the ADI aliens, it lacks the biomechanical look of the original alien. The design team out to have cut way down on the ridges and replaced them with more of the traditional biomechanical surface look. This is to maintain congruency with what family of monsters it is supposed to be part of, and cosmetically, the biomechanical look is much more alien. 3.) The color. Again, that Alien Ressurection ugly ADI look rears its head. I prefer that the highlights look more unnatural in chromatic color or simple grays and metallics like the original. The browns and yellows make it look too "natural," like something from Earth. Now, as for the positives. 1.) The two extra tails sticking out of the back. That was a very creative decision, and I like it. 2.) Ditching the secondary arms of the queen, which James Cameron put on his design as a facsimile of breasts. Basically, they, like the high heels, make the Queen look slightly more feminine. The design team, fortunately, knew why they were there and why they did not belong on a King/giant warrior variant. 3.) The double stingers on the tail. Again, it makes it look unique.
The original original Alien and the Queen is indeed the greatest fictonal alien creature. The overall form,texture,physique is designed beautyful & dreadful at once. Dreadful in it´s entire appearance! An icon of fear. Beautyful in the body desing...the froms is flawless....perfect. If u you add or remove something from it...it would be worse. I hope someone would make a film in the atmospheric quality of the original Alien movies 1-3. creepy - oppressive - brutal - atmospheric But like in Star Wars i think the more uncool information the give about the alien in the new movies the more they damage the original mysterious story...
@MiezeMatze666 Agreed. That's why I don't care for the newer movies that much. Them trying to explain the xenomorph's origins have kinda ruined the mystique of the creature. It was already the "perfect organism".

In the off chance that you haven't seen Aliens, you wouldn't really understand what's going on in the alien queen statue. Also, the king is more aesthetically consistent as the base does look wholly alien, like, not of this world.
I think the Big Chap from original Alien is the best movie monster design ever created. But the Queen is the coolest and my favorite. The T-Rex can't touch the Xeno's! Great CGI / Animatronics but not in same league.
You guys made some great points. I wish I had the funds to have these in my collection! Just out of curiosity, do the eggs on the Queen's base look a little too out of scale to you? I thought they looked a little big. When Ripley or another human character stands next to them, they look smaller. Whereas on this base they are about 1/2 the height of the warriors which I dont think is correct. Maybe it's just me.

I know your comment is 3 years old, but I’m hoping you’re still active on here. Can you please tell me the true overall dimensions of the king, if you still have it? I managed to get the queen yesterday off someone via Facebook Marketplace, and the dimensions definitely don’t match what it says on Sideshow’s product page, they only measured the base and didn’t take into account the tail’s placement going beyond the base. I’m hoping to display them side by side after I find a king statue somewhere online, but I want to make a custom display box and just need to know how big I have to make it

I can say that I don’t feel that it was terribly off from what the product page on Sideshow said, but I never personally verified that myself. What I can definitely say though is that you won’t be disappointed if you get one, it’s such a great looking piece that any differences in scale shouldn’t matter too too much. I had actually wanted to display those two together myself, and thought the same thing when the Rogue was announced too. Ultimately ended up selling mine and reinvested in a Shin Godzilla statue instead but I regret not finding another route to finance that, because I really miss it. You definitely won’t regret it if you get your hands on one and it’s every bit worth the $1200 MSRP imo if you find it for that price, that’s roughly what I ended up selling mine for on Mercari.
If you realize every time you give a reference point to create something, but leave it free to improve the design, the statues are better. And what I remember in the movie the alien queen is black, here by my monitor the statue looks almost a bluish gray. Alien king wins

I love both pieces. Both of incredible but completely different bases. Personally I think the paint job on the Alien King is stunning. And all of those warriors emerging just looks incredible. Having said that, I still have to give the edge to the queen. The base just makes it feel representative of Aliens.
