I like the idea of a little place to see ambassador animals but I agree with making the exhibit more natural

I've waited so long for this video, and I loved it.
I've also finally realized why the pinniped tunnels looks so off now that you pointed out it is too shallow. I thought it's just the shape of the tunnel, but the water depth is what makes it rather bad. So it kinda fails the purpose of making Seals and Sea lions swim above you freely, and it forces the pinnipeds to beach instead of swim on top of it. The shape also makes it kinda worse because I can imagine the edges of the tunnel makes it rather rough for the pinnipeds to swim above it smoothly.
And yes, I definitely agree to just demolish the village as a whole. The zoo's attempt at trying to be unique fails miserably, and it results in bizarre combination of exotic animals and suburbia in a rather small and barren exhibits that simply doesn't live up to Columbus Zoo's standard as a whole.
Anyway, this is a very great video. I'm looking forward to see the rest of the reviews for the rest of the tours.

I stand by my opinion that the only animal that would make sense there would be suburban animals. Raccoons, foxes, and opossums. Anyway, I'm excited about the new channel and look forward to your unfiltered opinion

That would make WAY more sense. I would combine two or three cages together while putting a trash bin filled with treats to represent their scavenger behavior. That would clearly worked better than a whole random exotic animals in these exhibits.

@@emanueltheodorus1056 the wildlife rescue center near me has an education center like this. No live animals but it has displays that show how to safely live with these animals. Window stickers and locking garbage can lids and such. Also the ambassador animals deserve a little quiet backstage area that is more appropriate.

@@ryleegeiger5654 That's really nice. If Columbus wants to make suburbia themed complex they should totally gone the way your rescue center did. I'm fine if they wanted to build animal ambassador exhibits, but they are all small, barren, and ugly as hell. Rotating them doesn't even help, because most of the exhibits in Animals Encounters Village is not adequate enough for the aimals besides the tortoise and toucan habitat and simply doesn't reach Columbus Zoo's standards at all.

Here's how I would have handled the village.
I would have made it look like an abandoned village and make the enclosures that are themed around buildings to look like buildings and areas are being reposesed by nature, for example in the kinkajou exhibit I would have made a Aries of vines and fake plants taking over the enclosure making the kitchen look abandoned, the new plants and vines would give the enclosure a combination of the suburban look they were going for without making it look too unnatural
With these changes would come a new theme of nature always taking things back in time. Teaching the lesson that if something is left alone for long enough nature will always come back for it
Or just doze the place and make it a mini aquarium to fit with the cove theme of the other two exhibitis

I would gave scrapped the sea lions and everything else there and made way for a South American area where there are the capybaras, sloths, macaws, Geoffrey cats, and the kinkajous living in good homes. While I liked the sea lion portion I do solemnly agree with your idea. Also south America is literally their ONLY not represented region.

There's no reason for them not to make a South American themed complex after Houston did a phenomenal job on it imo.

Well, they also don’t have a region representing Europe, but that’s not really a type of themed area American zoos tend to have
And I agree, a South American-themed area would’ve been much better use of the space that went to the Encounters Village

@@emanueltheodorus1056 I understand i plan to head to houston this winter but to be fair the sea lion concept was also in the same year as omahas so either way they could not have a lone concept for 2020

I feel the only way Columbus or any zoo could get away with something like the animal encounters village is having it house ambassador animals. Since the animals rotate or leave you can do something different. It also seems also like a way to have more animals on display since I don't believe most of the species housed there are found in other areas of the zoo.

I don't think that this type of exhibition is a step forward in zoos. It seems more like a step backwards. Seeing a exotic animals in a kitchen or backyard, I feel might make some people think that they can have them as pets, when they are uneducated on their care. This is not a good message to the public and the message of conservation and education of animals' natural habitats is much more apparent in naturalistic enclosures.

Adventure Cove was astounding! Maybe they should try putting a penguin exhibit & a sea otter exhibit for sure! Bubbling Ophthalmosaurus!🐧🐧🐧🐧
