A tip I have is before adding things to your chair new look on secondhand sites to see if someone is selling it cheaper. I wanted to have the option of having push handles on my aero z so I just bought secondhand height adjustable bolt on ones and saved $120 vs getting them from Tilite. I also chose to go with no extra charge brakes because for the money I can just upgrade to nicer scissor brakes than if I chose it as an option initially and I get a pair of normal brakes. An upgrade I did do was the side guards and tires because it was the same price or higher aftermarket so definitely do your research!

Great video! I might add thinking about adjustability. When I got my first wheelchair, when they set it up for me, I, of course, didn't know anything about chairs and thus they picked all options. When it came, I found that it was set up such that I couldn't lower it at all. It had that ability to adjust height, but at it's lowest setting, I couldn't get under my desk or my kitchen table. I know you mentioned height but I always wished that I had some adjustability in a lot of the settings so that I could "fine tune" it as I came across things that warranted it or as my needs changed.

Another consideration is if you use public transport, is there buses, streetcars, subways?
what size castors are you going to need.
Another, is your level of hand/arm function.

I would add that simple and relatively inexpensive upgrade at the time of purchase can be a very expensive upgrade later. I wanted to change my plastic guards to aluminum that are better anchored. $63 up charge if I had bought with the chair. But they were $475 (a discounted amount) as a purchase months later. So…I’m still using the plastic ones.

I'm not sure that BS handle is meant to be anything but for hanging clothes. I grab the steering wheel and pull myself in. Just a thought.

@@EmpoweredPara 😳...well, we certainly don't want that...I just would want to make sure that isn't going to fly off the car while you're yanking on it. That would truly suck. I used to do that with mine and I found out it's for suits.

@@EmpoweredParahey, I have two spinal cord injuries. Just thinking of you...I mean you have a family. Just please don't put a lot of weight on it and make sure you know what it is...I mean is it a hanger or a grab bar? Trust me, I was devastated when I got my second injury. I still am. It's been 2 years and the second one is miserable because I worked soooo hard to get things back and now they're gone 😭..including bladder function and my hands. I played the piano...and now that's gone.
