CEPHAS MASHAKADA SIGNATURE CHORUS EFFECTS: This video is in response to a question concerning Cephas Mashakada's signature guitar effects. An effects pedal pedal is an electronic device that changes the sound of a guitar through audio signal processing. With the coming of digital technology these effects can be found is studio software(Digital Audio Workstations). Some guitar effects can end up being a part of one's signature sound,as is in the case of the late Cephas Mashakada. Here in Zimbabwe, some people even refer to the effect as the 'Cephas Mashakada effect'. The effect first gained promincence in the western world in 1975,when the Roland company released the JC60 and JC120 Jazz Chorus amplifiers for keyboards. But because of the clean tone of the amps, they became popular with guitarists.I have played countless festivals around the world,& each & every festival I played there were 1 or more Roland JC120 guitar amps on stage,of course together with the Marshall amps.So the Roland JC120 is still that popular. Due to the popularity of the chorus effect,Roland's sister company Boss released the BOSS CE-1,which was the first stand alone chorus effects pedal. We first heard of the chorus effect in Zimbabwe via rhumba music & it was soon adapted in Zimbabwean music. In Zimbabwe the effect became popular with rhythm guitarists & used in various degrees. Its the same effect used by Simon Chimbetu when his fans claim that his guitars sounded like "they were in water". Coming to Mashakada, instead of using the effect on rhythm guitar,he used it on lead guitar, with parametres that are usually used for rhythm guitar.By doing this it became more identified with him.So those who are not aware of effects pedals thought the sound had something to do with his playing,or his tuning, hence this question that I'm responding to.Enjoy.
I can't wait for the explanation of the Effects. Also if you could show us how it's done and what extra hardware is needed and how the guitar is connected ro the Effects then the speakers. I have always wondered why my guitar didn't sound as great. Also if you could show how an acoustic guitar that is not electric is linked to the Effects. Thanks in advance
