100% AGREE with 'Not to be Okay with your salary'
    Had similar experience as you.
I started my first job out of college in Kitchener and the was hired at what can be said as market average.
Just after probation we went through compensation again- Got 25% hike.
People forget that they can just ask for it.

Amazing video - covered most of the points such as TFSA, phone contract, my personal fav - “Don’t be ok with your income” .. sometimes we end up valuing oneself pretty less than what we deserve. Time to upgrade skills & get more cash inflow. Thanks Navjot 🙏🏻

Could you please make a video/share suggestions on the best areas in Downtown Toronto for new immigrants (from the perspective that one can pay up to C$900-$1,000 and still have a private room and good infrastructure access, from the perspective of single PR immigrants. Thank you.

I like your videos paji, just subscribed to your channel yesterday.
    1. Don't be a co signer for anyone's loan. this will affect your eligibility in your future loans.
2.If you are a student don't use your tuition credits for filing taxes when you are earning less than $50k/year save it for later use when you enter 20.5% tax bracket when you start earning more than $50k/year. Along with RRSP contributions.
3.Always have an Indian mentality when making big purchases like negotiating auto loan interest rate it will save you thousands of dollars on long run, negotiate on credit card interest rate (after building good history with no payments missed), negotiate on your salary as paji said in the last point, I did that and out of no where the HR at my new job accepting my counter offer and gave $3k/year extra on what they were offering(that's my car insurance for an year lol)

Very insightful. Thank you for the video Navjot.
Could you also advise / make a video on how much to bring along (as a family of 4) while moving into Canada for the first time, and how / in what formats. I remember you briefly talking about it in one of your earlier videos, but would help to have more deets. Fyi...excited to share that we are moving in Sept'22 to Winnipeg (MPNP).
    Wish simran a speedy recovery.
    Best.

Thanks as always your videos are very informative. I have a feedback about the money spent on learning driving by which I mean canadian driving to pass the road test. I would suggest for new immigrants to get their license when their Indian license is till valid (3 months after landing) so that you atleast can practice well using rental cars by maybe taking 1 or 2 class from a driving instructor to understand the road rules. This is applicable if you dont have any friends or relatives to assist you. Else its not easy to clear the road test here without sufficient practice and you will end up paying for additional road test (when you fail multiple times) and pay for driving classes which is quite expensive.

I am just planning to move and there are so many questions and concerns. do let me know if we still have those calls (except these investment ones- surely will need them down the lane) which were more like a guidance for new immigrants ,in terms of province selection and real expectations from Canada. just want a quick one to one :). Thanks.

Navjot i always watch ur video till the end Hey Guys welcome back to our channel to Tabtak ke liye Bye Bye, because they are not very long max 20 mins and our very informative with some glimpses of Canada.
especially the pts like Car insurance minimization, Govt bonds for tax saving for retirement, asking more salary as u shown ur worth in 2 months and then switching because ideally one is well settled in home country and already doing well in career so experience count which I used to believe that we would start with labour jobs and then initial year would be tough. But thanks to highlight and one should know their worth even if one is ready to take a simple job. I guess that's why u saved so much money that u buying properties.
Btw the excel u shared, is it applicable for India budgeting too? And initial ghar ka rent Ontario mein single person ko kitna dena chahiye if shared accommodation mein rehte hai and koi job nahi hai aur kin logo ke saath rehna chahiye

    • @Potatotalkies
      @Potatotalkies  2 роки тому

      It’s applicable in India too!!
You can live for $600-700 a month in shared accommodation. Just search for rooms on kijiji / FB marketplace and talk to people leasing out to see if your wavelength matches.

2019-2020 subs. signing in! Navjot and Simran you're a success, happy tp see you get there! Your drive and persistence got you there, congrats!!!
I wanted tp share a mental tussle I am going through. I am a highly emotional person and I can't stop dreaming about buying a new car when I get there as a PR, as soon as I get a job! I know that's not ideal since it will get harder for me to qualify for a mortgage to buy my first home. Please note I don't wanna a crazy expensive luxury car. Wanna buy a brand new Toyota hybrid or Subaru Impreza. My main career will be white collar, but plan to do Uber Eats as a side hussle to pay my car loam EMIs. The car will cost C$ 30,000 roughly.
Please share your thoughts on this, would be greatly appreciated.. even if it's a dumb idea please tell me
