- ArcGIS Pro uses geodatabases as the default way to import and save files, but sometimes you just want the old fashion esri shapefile to share with third-party platforms or even with ArcMap Desktop. To save a shapefile in ArcGIS Pro you need to export it, which you can do through the right-click export feature, there you need to make sure that you choose a folder output location or you will not be able to save it as a shapefile. Finally, you can choose the name of your file and add the file extension .shp
thank you, have done this numerous times in last year. this morning I couldn't remember how I managed it before.
we all been there, for me it is the short cut key for the rectangle zoom in Pro.
Thank you very much. I was quite frustrated and done many things but always was only export to database, not whole new shapefile. It's ridiculous it is this complicated. Not to forget that when you make export from right click from database in catalog, symbology is lost 3:50. That was making me crazy. Thanks again.
Thank you for marking that timestamp @daniellehotsky1776! And thank you Moulay for posting this video. That really clarified it for me.
Thank you for pointing out not to include the lock file
Many thanks for your information!
This seems like something that should not be this complicated, why cant i just right click a layer and export as shape file
Agree, this is ridiculous.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much!
I do not have the data option, and can't see where I can maybe add it to my drop down menu. any feedback to how?
it's likely not a layer file in your project. Convert the object to a layer then you should be able to do what is shown. Ie if you import a KML/Z file, convert it to a layer first then follow the steps above.
Thanks!!!
Nice. Thank you!
