    After watching a few videos with poor instructions, I came across this one and when I started following your steps, I was stumped at first because I have the switch for the tinted inner visor on my Sedici helmet where typically you would mount the Sena. Moving on, I am beyond ecstatic because your video helped me get all the pieces in the right place, even after struggling to put those damn cheek protectors back in. I was having a hard time getting them to button back in and eventually realized it was because I used the extra padding included for the headphones so I quickly removed them and voila 👏🏽 cheek pads buttoned back in no problem. I just used my Siri to call a couple people and listened to music for a few seconds. Thank you so much for this video!!! I’ve been riding for about 8 mos so this is all so exciting for me. Now I can communicate with my boyfriend easily and there won’t be any surprise turns around town and me wondering where we’re going because we’ll be able to communicate with ease. Thank you again!!

    A very good 'how-to' guide. Thank you. Personally found the Sena unit a bit basic for my needs so went with a Cardo Freecom 4+ for the voice control with my iPhone12. Then hit a major snag. 1. The JBL speakers are rather thicker than the Sena speakers. 2 the speaker 'cut'away' in the EPS lining of the helmet is too shallow and is also way too high for over-ear placement. They are more like attachment points for cochlear implants being high and behind my actual ear cavity putting undue pressure on my ear whenever I put the helmet on. This means that the sound from the speakers is too muffled to be of any practical use for me if they are placed here. The ideal placement for the speakers for my hearing was just behind where the chin strap is connected to the helmet. This meant that not only could the speaker not ideally be stuck to the inner shell of the helmet as the chin strap pulled it away when you put on and took off the helmet but the cheek pads could not be seated properly. So all in all a wasted exercise but a useful learning one. My ears, I am assured are normally placed on my head and don't resemble one of Picasso's finest. Thanks again! Bought a few bits of kit from your recommendations (this helmet being one) and don't regret it for a second it is an awesome piece of kit. Keep up the good work!

      Thanks, yes the 5s is one of Sena's simpler units, but a 30k or 50S would fit just the same. One thing Sena have done is make their earpieces nice an slim, but still with good audio.

    • @misterblack6803
      @misterblack6803 3 роки тому

      @@mancavemoto How did you find the actual placement of the speaker in the helmet in relation to your ear? I found that the speaker indentations in the shell were too high for me. Ideal speaker placement would be where the chin strap fits into the helmet. That was the main reason I could not use the Cardo unit, which in itself is an absolutely awesome set up and I suspect any other comms unit. Ear plugs for me!

      @@misterblack6803 Hey, I know it's been a while since this comment and most probably you have a new helmet :), I had the same issue with Cardo Freecom 4+ with the glamster, first the texture where you originally think the speakers will go to will not hold the adhesive well, so I went to the store and they showed me where to actually fit the spakers, so you have to put it down this textile area where the actual plastic is and it works perfectly now, initially, I installed them where Man Cave did but it was too high and had a huge pressure on my ears, so yes it's a bit tricky but it's doable and the difference is great :)

    The Glamster doesn’t have any cutouts for the speakers, so the pads will press against your ears a bit more where the speakers are attached. This is initially no problem, but my ears start to hurt somewhat after 3 hours with the helmet. I guess there is some pressure against the ears. The only retro helmet that did have cutouts for speakers seems to be the Gringo S from Biltwell.

    • @nicolorenz4464
      @nicolorenz4464 3 місяці тому

      I just bought the Glamster and had the Gringo before and I can definitly confirm that. With the Gringo it was never a Problem but I think I will have to run the glamster without my Sena. After 30mins in the helmet my ears and skull get pressure on them and it starts to hurt. Its a bit sad because I like to talk to my Friends while riding but I dont think I have another choice.

    • @reinistraidas
      @reinistraidas 3 місяці тому

      @@nicolorenz4464 You could cut away from the EPS foam slightly where the speakers are placed. The trick there is to just get them a tiny bit deeper so that they don't touch your ear. Literally the speaker pads needs to be 2-3 milimeters deeper than if you just stick it there. I found that moving them slightly more forward towards your cheeks also helps. The speakers won't align perfectly with your ears, but that is no issue as they Harman & Kardon ones are loud enough.

    Good review, mention how critical it is for speaker positioning as not all helmets have the ear recess in exactly the correct position and this can loose 50% of sound volume after fitting, I always first use my fingers and make an indent internally on the helmet liner across from my ear canal, this would be for speaker centre alignment.

Please tell me it's at least possible to pair to another rider not just the pillion on your bike? U mentioned the range, what is it 700m? Now I have a Glamster and waited for the 3s plus to release to install on the glamster, visually the result is great but the headphones don’t fit in perfectly and they are quite large so they touch your ears that for me causes discomfort. I use a neck warmer that covers my ears and this helps a lot. Hi again Tony, can you just answer my question about pairing the Sena S5 with another rider? Can you pair with a buddy on another bike, what's the range like? I hope it's at least 700-800 m, otherwise it is made to only pair it with a pillion. Now I know you mentioned that in this vid, but have you tested the range and quality of connection for coms communication with a rider on another bike? I am finally about to order my Shoei glamster for Christmas and I haven't decided yet which Sena to buy. Unlike you I don't have 33 helmets and comes units, you probably have other Sena's as well so how does S5 compare? I suppose 20s evo which I could maybe try and find used on Ebay cause it's to expansive for me, is way better than S5? Mainly due to its mash or multiple rider communication capabilities?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  3 роки тому

      Hi Marko, Did I miss a qustion? apologies. Yes you can connect the 5S with another rider. The quoted range is 700m, I used it when riding with a friend recently and we didnt have a problem, it was very reliable. I don't have 33 helmets and I only have two comms units! If you want to connect with multiple riders then you will need something other than the 5S, mesh is only really useful for large groups. I had 30k for a while and that was very good, they can be picked up cheaper now that the 50s has been launched. tinyurl.com/sena30k
