There are a lot of videos on UA-cam showing how to make inexpensive DIY sound booths. I even made one myself to test them out, but there's a big problem. They don't sound very good.

I think a better choice would be a GOBO or a sound dampening shield. These will help minimize background noise without making your audio sound like you're recording inside a box.
