Multiple totes delivery - $15 per tote or $25 on the initial and $10 for each additional - still the same $45 extra for 3, but something says 2 totes is the sweet spot. "Things are definitely changing around the dude ranch" Yup..your getting another dude.
First, I watched your video announcing your addition to the family, I'm super stoked for you guys, you're both going to be such amazing, kick a$$ parents. So congratulations to you both ❤ Now into this video 😂😂 Bundles/bags have definitely taken off the past 2 weeks for me. It's been so hot all summer I think I sold around 50 bags since May, sales definitely down from last year🤷♂️ I've never heard anyone be excited for leaf clean up 😂😂 even with that new blower I'd still dread it. Those grizzly bars work great for the slash catching, I've never really payed attention to that tote getting filled up while you split. I too need to get covering up, leaves fill my stacks up fast here 😭 You could do flat rate fee for the delivery of those totes with a deposit of return of the totes too. Charge by loaded mile for stuff under " x" amount of miles. If over your desired delivery miles, charge for your unloaded return trip too. Which I believe you already do something similar 🤷♂️ Enjoy the day💪
I struggle with delivery rates… the economy is in shambles in Canada due to the carbon tax and post Covid impacts so people do not have a lot extra… we end up including delivery in the cost per cord. For partial cords, we only increase by $25 which really isn’t enough…. But it feels like the right thing to do. Nice wood yard setup!
I would say $25 per tote. While youre saving the customer time from not stacking it themselves, and money by not having you stack it, you're still losing totes that you could be using to store future inventory in. Also, congrats on the new little dude joining you guys! Im an uncle of two nephews, and if im having this much fun as an unlce, i can only imagine what it's like as a dad! Im sure Sarah is just as excited about becoming a mom as well!
Hey, Im a newer viewer to the channel but nonetheless, heres my take on your delivery issue if you may, I feel as if $25 per delivery is reasonable I could also justify 30-35 for it too! As well as a say over 25 Miles its an extra $10 for a delivery or something. I would also suggest if you have multiple customers with small orders, why can you not simply just do all 3 in 1 trip. $90 for 3 deliveries depending on distance its reasonable. Cheers, love the vids!
Q: How do you recover the totes? Go back and pick them up? That's another trip, more expense. Factor that expense into the equation, as well. For a second tote, you are already there, so the only additional cost is the time it takes to unload the second tote. If $25 is for one tote, then do $40 for two totes, and maybe $50 for three totes. Last observation: I would develop the cost of having that tote tied up, and not being able to be re-used immediately. Perhaps give a time limit on each tote. For instance, first month or two FREE, after that, $10 per month "rental" fee. I would want my totes back, and not have to keep getting more. Even if you got them for free, there's cost tied up in going to get the new totes and cutting/prepping for usage.
Most of the time I pick up the empty totes when I bring another full one. If I’m not delivering more wood and just picking up the empty tote I charge for the pick up.
Using the mini skid is an added cost for you. It should reflect that on what you charge. Time to load the wood on the trailer, time to tie it down, the convenience of putting the wood exactly where the customer wants it. Not having those totes available to fill back up right away. It should be an added cost to your customers.
Add a deposit for leaving the tote plus your delivery charge. 25 or 35 dollars would be a fair deposit charge. Since they would most likely have the tote for a few months. It’s a huge benefit for them not having to stack the wood and leaving the tote is a added value that most of the competition are not providing!
Leaving the tote seems like it would create a lot of problems. I think $25/tote delivery fee is good, but how do you recover the tote? $50/tote deposit is good if they return them or you pick an empty one up when you deliver another full one. If you have to make a trip just to pick up empties then there should be an additional charge. Lots af variables.
Looks like it wears out from the conveyor cleats. I’m sure you could use tractor trailer mud flap to get you thru some more. Think Easton needs get new material for theses things or make sure they are available and cheap for the users. Don’t know if they do already. Just sayin. Nice video Jake!
I had the same problem with my conveyor, I took the rubber out, took some steel shaped it to fit inside the conveyor, the cross bars lift the plate 1/2 inch and no more problems. For your delivery charge I'd research what is the going rate per mile, round it up to the next round number then if you drop off 3 totes to one customer it would be a flat rate then 3 totes to 3 custom charge them each the flats rate.
I was wondering if you could just bolt a band of hardware cloth to the bottom, over the worn out part it would still be somewhat flexible but keep the wood from backing out...
Cut a piece from the IBC totes and bolt it to what’s left of the flap. That plastic should take a beating and keep the logs from falling back in the gap.
I would charge 50 PER tote as a deposit, prevents them from selling said tote on marketplace and helps with repeat customers because the next delivery will be 'discounted' per tote returned.
Hi Jake, from the looks of it these customers don't care what you charge, they care about the service. Having said that - I don't want to tell you what to charge, but I would like to ask you this: Do you ever get less than a $20.00 tip?
O yeah Things will be changing alright! You 🫵🏼 will be changing.” DIAPERS “ It’s all good though.. I have a 20 & 16 year old And I wish I was back changing diapers. I will keep supporting your channel And learning from your experience. Thank you and your family!!🙏🏼💯👍🏼✌🏼
Hi, there are some strings/ropes marking the tote position. He was spraying them to make them more visible... Greetings from Perth, West Australia. Cheers, Frank.
Jake,as far as totes twenty five dollars a tote, how come Chris isn’t in the wood 🪵 yard that often anymore and have you and picked out some names, maybe something to do with your guys fathers names 😮😊❤
Hi Jake, I am pretty sure the top mark of the back plate is 1 cubic foot or maybe I have been doing it wrong all this time. I have a different bundler but have been making them bigger. Maybe I am Forgetting I the wood is 16”.
Jake as you know I made my elevator but anyway I used a side wall of bladder out of IBC tote as flap at bottom of elevator maybe give that a try just few measurements n holes n done
Customer lets me know when they’re empty and I either pick them up when I bring them more wood or they bring the empty tote back if they have the means. If I have to go pick up and empty tote without delivering more I charge for the pickup.
Mini skid is next for our business I think. Those are such handy little machines.
Congratulations on the Pregnancy can't wait to see him helping in the Woodyard.
Hey, brother. Great video! And congratulations on your upcoming arrival! I hope the lord blesses you both. Chip

Good video Jake. By any chance would you describe yourself as a machinery nut? Made my day seeing everything running. Cheers from HB NZ
Haha I like things with motors

Yep $25 I think is fair. Sometimes I will do several deliveries at once if it works out that way.
Q: How do you recover the totes? Go back and pick them up? That's another trip, more expense.

25$ per delivery, but ask for a tote deposit. Oh and congratulations to Sara and you 👍

Exactly, I don’t charge for empty tote pickup as long as I’m bringing another new one.
Ah thanks, I couldn’t figure it out. 😂

Hey jake how you feeling great video I would be charging 25 per tot I forgot in the last video to congratulations on your new baby

Thank you very much!
glad to see you stopping at one cubic foot 9x12x16 alot of guys are filling to one square foot 12x12x16 and giving a 3rd of a bundle away
Yeah I try my best, my bundles are definitely biggest around
What were you spraying on the grizzly bars before you positioned the new totes?
Hi, there are some strings/ropes marking the tote position. He was spraying them to make them more visible... Greetings from Perth, West Australia. Cheers, Frank.

Forgetting I the wood is 16”.
Yeah I’ve measured it several times, for 16” wood the second mark on my machine is 1 cu ft
Most other ones I have seen only change 10 to 15 dollars per tote as a rental fee.
Hey Jake much do you charge for a full cord of firewood? I’m in Ct to to far away from you in Southwest Ct! Just a few towns east of you.
Email me
Are they returning the totes? Your fee should include what they would pay to get their own tote, or what I would cost you to replace it
Use a Napa truck mud flap
Jake as you know I made my elevator but anyway I used a side wall of bladder out of IBC tote as flap at bottom of elevator maybe give that a try just few measurements n holes n done
That’s a good idea
25 for a delivery charge is good 75 is better but that seems a little high especially if it is local
Per tote man, they’re essentially renting your totes until they empty them. What if it takes them 2 years to empty one?!
$50 for the first tote and $25 for each additional tote or build it into price. Given your machine and time requirements that should be the minium.
How and when do you get your totes back?
Customer lets me know when they’re empty and I either pick them up when I bring them more wood or they bring the empty tote back if they have the means. If I have to go pick up and empty tote without delivering more I charge for the pickup.
25 for delivery is not enough. How many totes can you max deliver in one go? 6? Then it’s 35 for one tote and 50 for 2-6 totes.
January 30th is a good day...
You Schall take 25 $ a toade the labor is almost the same, and Thea are renting the toade from you. Like Your Channel . Jørgen from Denmark.
I think you should charge like $35 for one. And $15for each one after
More than you think…..
Hey Jake, how's that Fiscars pick a room working for you ?
Been thinking about getting one.
Works great
50 dollar deposit per tote and 100 for delivery..
I charge a $50 deposit for the tote
Lord not lord. Typo. Chip
