LFO is low frequency oscillator which is used for modulating volume/cutoff/pitch and other parameters. In simple words consider it as a kind of automation. For example link your synth cutoff to a LFO to create some wobbling effect. It's best if you experiment with it yourself.
I am also not so good with explaining technical details, so it's always preferable to experiment .
