- Gianluigi Lentini, born 27 March 1969 in Carmagnola (Italy). 207 games and 27 goals in Serie A, playing as winger with Torino, Milan and Atalanta. From 1986 to 2000 he played 10 Serie A seasons, winning 3 Serie A, 3 Supercoppa Italiana, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 UEFA Supercup (with Milan) and 1 Mitropa Cup (with Torino).
With Italy he played 13 international games (1991-1996), the semi-finals of the 1990 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

At the time he promised greatness, watching this old grainy footage makes me feel nostalgic as I watched some of these games live. Serie A had a mystery and magic to it in those days, for us in England anyway

Concordo, un fuoriclasse senza se e senza ma. Capello scelse di lasciarlo fuori per la finale di Champions del 1995 e fece l’ennesimo errore della sua carriera.

in this video I could see that he finishes well, but why so few goals?
Mainly because he was a winger, goals were not particularly his job, though as this video shows he was a decent finisher, good in the air and a couple of bicycle kicks among them. The modest amount he scored tended to be quite impressive. Like I say though, he was a winger- and remember that he was injured badly in a car accident at the end of his first year at Milan, after which he was never quite the same player. That is why after scoring late in 92/93 his next goal comes two years later, because of his struggles with fitness.
If only he didn't get in a car accident...

io ho smesso di tenere per il Toro (per qualsiasi squadra veramente) quando se n'è andato. Non si fa così. Comunque nel Milan era troppo chiuso e si è perso. Fosse andato alla Juve sarebbe di sicuro finito in nazionale. Per starci. Ce l'avessimo adesso un giocatore così invece di ste merdine ...

I agree with you that the average player of nowadays have less skills compared to the one of 15-30 years ago, but C.Ronaldo and Messi are far beyond better than the average of 15-30 years ago.
