I learnt something recently … I was fortunate enough to be on holiday for 9 weeks in Spain… I took a Chanel , a small ysl camera bag and 2 neverfulls from my collection. I didn’t use the Chanel once and I only used the pochettes out of my neverfull for the evening. I also used the little ysl camera bag. The pochette and ysl were totally stress free and I had no worries about damaging them. So I’m asking myself do I need all the other bags I possess. Great advice Viv! I love many bags. One thing about me is that I don’t get persuaded by what bags everyone is buying. I do only buy the ones I think I will use. All my bags or mini or small bags as I’m only 5’3”. It’s seems like the smaller bags may not be your thing (I.e small red Chanel, mini blk Chanel and mini Dior). Even though cute. If you don’t reach for it, let it go. Think of cost per wear. Get something you will use. If you decide to sell the blk mini Chanel I would be interested.

Oh, I love owning multiples! For example I own 4 Dior New Lock bags- two black but in different sizes, a red one just to admire and a mustard yellow patent version that is my most worn bag. When a model works for me, I really like to have options.
This was a great video, thank you! I am very picky about my handbags. I have a friend who says it's worse purse shopping with me than swimsuit shopping. You would need to pry that red Chanel from my cold dead fingers. It is a look that never outdates. I view red as my third color choice (after brown and black). In the winter I'm usually wearing a neutral coat and the red looks gorgeous. I find that once I commit to carrying a red bag, it works. Hope that helps.

Then the outfit is gone and I still have the bag, then I'm torn on whether I keep it or get rid of it. Now I try to buy bags that will go with most of what I wear. I also will look and then think about it for a bit. If a week or two later I'm still thinking about it, then it's a yes. The red Chanel is gorgeous, but that's a hard color to work with sometimes. I'd be tempted to sell it, but I sure wouldn't hurry since the market is kind of iffy at the moment.

Great advice Vivi. I need more crossbody bags but the bag I want is more top handle. You can pass these bags to your daughter if she likes it, before deciding to sell. That's the beauty of owning luxury bags, it can be passed down generation to generation.

You are in a special situation to sell at an acceptable price. But the red and specially the black mini square, which I have are classics. I will not buy a red bag, but you did and you loved it. It is Chanel, it is special. So what if you rarely wear it. It is special. The black mini is the perfect evening bag for me. I wear black for evenings and I don’t have to think about the bag. Again so what if you don’t use it often, you will always know you have it. I don’t know what color your Dior bag is, so I can not comment, but it is Dior and those prices keep going up. If you love it, keep it. But for sure keep the black Chanel😊

Great tips, I’ve made a conscious effort this year to have a general wish list and a 2023 wish list for those items I want to buy this year. I review both monthly and am focused on saving up to buy a couple of bags when I go on holiday later this year. I also think with the current climate versatility is key, I keep finding myself drawn to bags with both a top handle and crossbody option as well being day or night bags.

I got a second black classic flap because my older daughter is 14 now and the prices will just go up. So I got it, to gift her, when she’s older. My younger daughter is nine months old now and I can just imagine how much those pieces will cost when she’s an adult. So I don’t regret getting a second black CF but that’s an absolute exemption for me. And I on,y buy bags and other luxury pieces, that I can pay easily, without it needing a long time to safe up for. In this economy, I’d rather be careful. I won’t buy the top Hermès bags for that reason at the moment. And who knows if that will happen to Chanel too.

All of these tips I wish I knew in my 20s 😂 it’s so tempting to buy a bag because it looks so good on someone else even if they are not for you. My rule for myself is when I’m much older will I still love and use the bag I want and if I can’t see myself still using it than I won’t buy it. I also don’t buy designer bags only contemporary so it doesn’t make me feel bad that I’m spending so much on “just a bag” according to my husband.
An idea here, you could decide to use the red Chanel for one specific day. Commit with it like you do with a reunion you need to do. Then, choose and outfit and shoes that match with the red bag. That's it. All you need to do is commit of using the bag. You'll never know if you love it till you use it.

I’ve recently really downsized and any duplicates of a type I’m selling. When I see a new bag I want these days I ask myself do I need it or just want it, do I have another in the same style that serves the purpose. ❤❤
The Chanel red bag is not your colour. It will lift an outfit if you're a winter but you're not. So you would sing in the black with a pastel. It's probably better to not go for high contrast looks it's too hard on your delicate colouring. The red bag will go well with denim or chambray but it's not your thing. Black and red is very harsh, I much prefer red and taupe, or red and cream. The biggest problem is the red and gold is a bit dated. So to carry this off, you must be very young. Brutal but true. Otherwise it just looks tired when you revive an older look that's not crisp enough and is a bit dated. I think it goes to the need to be very selective in buying even though there's nothing wrong with the bag itself, the issue is how it will fit with your own look, lifestyle and wardrobe. Great topic!
Just sell the red Chanel! You been debating it before and there is a reason that you _never_ use it! Red is not everyones ”must have” and a bag is only worth the price a buyer is willing to give. As soon as you bought your blue and green bags then of you went to live happely ever after, that is your go to ”pop of color”. Just go with another of your Chanels and a red lip and nailpolish if you ever feel like you need the red pop, I bet people will notice that detail even more! If you have one or a couple of bags like the red flap that you don't wear but have in case you go to a wedding... sure. Specially since with these prices you won't probably get a red one again knowing the high cost per wear. I say keep it just don't make it a thing to have a whole collection of non used bags

With the other designer brands I don't have the need to buy duplicates. If you decide to sell the mini black chanel I am definitely intrested. I have been truying to get a mini square or rectangular for the past 3 years without any luck. Always sold out. As for the red chanel...I think you you should sell it! I think we all buy bags and clothes because we create a vision of ourselves we want to live, at least for a moment . Nothing wrong with a little creativity right? The reality is our real lives get in the way and the vision isn’t practical. I never expect anything is forever and I take losses on 100% of my things when selling but I don’t care. bags and fashion are fun and imagination is healthy so why not. I do avoid all fast fashion and buy mostly resale to avoid creating xtra environmental waste. I like recycling items both buying used and reselling because I get the excitement of buying new styles and no environmental guilt from selling. I consider the loss the cost of enjoyment and it’s worth it. They deserve another life with another woman , at least for a while…..
The red bag, maybe you just have not had the right occasion to wear it, that is a fancy bag, if you sold it would you replace it with another brand red bag that you would use? Is it the color or the brand that prevents you from using it.

All of these tips I wish I knew in my 20s 😂 it’s so tempting to buy a bag because it looks so good on someone else even if they are not for you. My rule for myself is when I’m much older will I still love and use the bag I want and if I can’t see myself still using it than I won’t buy it. I also don’t buy designer bags only contemporary so it doesn’t make me feel bad that I’m spending so much on “just a bag” according to my husband.

An idea here, you could decide to use the red Chanel for one specific day. Commit with it like you do with a reunion you need to do. Then, choose and outfit and shoes that match with the red bag.

The Chanel red bag is not your colour. It will lift an outfit if you're a winter but you're not. So you would sing in the black with a pastel. It's probably better to not go for high contrast looks it's too hard on your delicate colouring.
The red bag will go well with denim or chambray but it's not your thing. Black and red is very harsh, I much prefer red and taupe, or red and cream. The biggest problem is the red and gold is a bit dated.
So to carry this off, you must be very young. Brutal but true. Otherwise it just looks tired when you revive an older look that's not crisp enough and is a bit dated. I think it goes to the need to be very selective in buying even though there's nothing wrong with the bag itself, the issue is how it will fit with your own look, lifestyle and wardrobe. Great topic!

Just sell the red Chanel! You been debating it before and there is a reason that you _never_ use it! Red is not everyones ”must have” and a bag is only worth the price a buyer is willing to give. As soon as you bought your blue and green bags then of you went to live happely ever after, that is your go to ”pop of color”. Just go with another of your Chanels and a red lip and nailpolish if you ever feel like you need the red pop, I bet people will notice that detail even more! Looking forward to see your updated bag collection!

If you have one or a couple of bags like the red flap that you don't wear but have in case you go to a wedding... sure. Specially since with these prices you won't probably get a red one again knowing the high cost per wear. I say keep it just don't make it a thing to have a whole collection of non used bags

Great video! ❤ I am a sucker for duplicates. I have 3 or 4 LV bags in the 3 canvases 🙈 When I love a bag I often want the trifecta. It's even worse with the slgs. However I only have that with LV. With the other designer brands I don't have the need to buy duplicates. If you decide to sell the mini black chanel I am definitely intrested. I have been truying to get a mini square or rectangular for the past 3 years without any luck. Always sold out. As for the red chanel...I think you you should sell it! NO! Do not sell the red Chanel. Whether you’re using it or not. To me Chanel bags are worth keeping or keeping it in the family. I’m sure you’re aware of Chanel prices and how all the higher-end bag prices go up every quarter? No one of regular means will afford them. I think we all buy bags and clothes because we create a vision of ourselves we want to live, at least for a moment . Nothing wrong with a little creativity right? The reality is our real lives get in the way and the vision isn’t practical. I never expect anything is forever and I take losses on 100% of my things when selling but I don’t care. bags and fashion are fun and imagination is healthy so why not. I do avoid all fast fashion and buy mostly resale to avoid creating xtra environmental waste. I like recycling items both buying used and reselling because I get the excitement of buying new styles and no environmental guilt from selling. I consider the loss the cost of enjoyment and it’s worth it. They deserve another life with another woman , at least for a while…..
