LYRICS
Tried to fight it
To deny it
But every single night it’s the same desire, same damn fire
Smoked a little
Tried to pray
Knew it was you the moment I felt this, baby I’m helpless
I can only resist for so long
I gave it my best
But this halo don’t fit
If I had to spend forever in heaven without you might as well be in hell
My verdict is in
Cause baby if loving you is wrong
Then I’m guilty as sin
I’m done pretending
Cut the tension
Ain’t no use in us acting like, this ain’t right
I need your body
Heavy on me
I’m always falling back to your gravity, it’s pulling me
And I can only resist for so long
I gave it my best
But this halo don’t fit
If I had to spend forever in heaven without you might as well be in hell
My verdict is in
Cause baby if loving you is wrong
Then I’m guilty as sin
I can only resist for so long
I found holy right here in your arms
I gave it my best
But this halo don’t fit
If I had to spend forever in heaven without you might as well be in hell
My verdict is in
Cause baby if loving you is wrong
Then I’m guilty as sin
Yeah I’m guilty as sin
Guilty as sin

I grew up gay in a rural small town in Colorado during the 70s and 80s listening to country music. It is impossible for me to imagine what my life would have been like, if I had the chance to hear a song and see a video like this growing up. Thank you Mr. Housman. Keep up the great work!
This just made me cry a little. 🥲 Same here but in Kansas and the 90s and 00s, so I can’t even imagine what you went through. I definitely wanted this to be the song/video I wish heard/saw when I was growing up. Thanks so much for sharing this. 💙
@@chrishousmanmusicFantastic voice, song, and video! Wish I could’ve heard the reaction from the crowd the first time this got played at the Round-Up Saloon in Dallas. I bet they raised the freaking roof! Yeehaw!
❤ I grew up in the Deep South in a very little town in a military family. I wish I could have seen a video like this when I was 13 so I wouldn't think I was the only person in the world that was gay. Good job my friend
Beautiful song and video ❤

I’m a 1968 Gen Xer who grew up gay in a teensy tiny rural Texas town, so I listened to a LOT of country music. It does my heart good to see our LGBTQ+ community being represented in this genre. Also, I dunno if the artist and the other man in the video are just acting or if they’re together irl, but that chemistry was 🔥🔥🔥. Biggest props to you Chris Housman!
Huh. Just discovered that I like country music
Yesssss
lol, Yes! I can totally see why!
This was me a few years ago until I first heard of Kane Brown 😭 lord his voice does something to me
It's about time we have a Country singer that's not afraid to represent our Community.! Keep up the good work.!
Yiu are so right! 🥹🥹❤❤❤
Actually he's not the first! Offhand I can think of at least 2 other country singers that came before him: K.D. Lang who's been recording for at least 40 years and Lil Nas X who began his career fairly recently around 3 years ago.
Orville Peck just released a song with Willie Nelson. He's not my style but he's been trending for a minute now. Check him out!
Ever heard of Ty Herndon? Chely Wright? T.J. Osborn? Orvile Peck? It's awesome we have Chris Housman, but he's there because others kicked the door open.
My hope is that there will be a day that this song doesn’t need to be praised for showing the love of two men, but praised for just showing love between two people and sounding good.
At the risk of sounding like a fortune cookie here. The world needs more love and less hate.
THISSSS I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🎯
Every time I find a new gay country music artist my heart swells. I needed this in my middle and high school years but I’m happy for it now all the same
I just sent this to my friend and asked him that question! imagine if we had this in high school? would the bullies have not been so happy to pick on him? he still talks about how that experience ruined him, he's in his 30s now. Happy, MARRIED!!, a great job... he made it out and FLOURISHED. Just wish it hadn't been so hard
Amen to that!
It’s also a really great song, gay or not (though speaking as a gay man phew he is hot) it stands on its own merits.

I'm not a big fan of country music but my husband died in January 2023 aged 89. After 15 years long distance we had 15 years together when I moved from the UK to Australia to be with him. I'm an old, bisexual man. I grew up in the 1950s-60s. Our music was both rock and country. I love this.
I'm an old gay man who also grew up in the 50s-60s and was blown over by this video. At first I thought it was some kind of 'joke' that he was really talking about the old car but it got better. Just glad that I got to see some good old boys loving each other in the 'out' before I pass on.
I'm 40 years old and I grew up on Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, and Reba McEntire (among many others) and this is the first time I feel like there is country music for ME! I can't say this enough THANK YOU Chris Housman!!! Also your song Nobody fits me to a T, I found the love of my life and lost hm 4 years ago and can't imagine being with anyone else. 😢
There have always been rumors about Reba McEntire that she’s gay and her husband is a beard
This comment fits ME to a T! And I feel you on "Nobody" in a way I can't even express. So glad my music found you and welcome aboard - can't WAIT for you to hear the whole album!

Yessssss
What part of West Texas? I live in Lubbock. Just asking, as I have been celibate for nearly 20 years. Besides, my first love is dead. He committed suicide when we were fourteen. It took me decades to come to terms with it because the idea of being gay is so repulsive around here.
West Texas? Like El Paso? Lubbock? Midland? I don’t think West Texas as people make it out to be. Now, East Texas is a hellhole for gay people.
@@GianVersace Well it has gotten a bit better here in Lubbock, but it still sucked growing up. And we won't talk about my best friend who killed himself at the age of fourteen.
Love this. Thank you for representing me. You are making a difference on this planet. My husband and I have been together for 32 years, still going strong and Guilty as Sin!
Y'all stay guilty!! ❤️
As a proud 45 year old gay man who spent most of his late teen years and early twenties going to country western dance clubs. This makes me want to put back on my boots and do a slow waltz with Mr right if only I had him. Thank you for your continued music for our community and others who need to know that music can touch everyone for many reasons.
Same 44 yrs. Haven't been to country dance club- sounds like fun. Still looking for that guy to steadily be with.
Here l am in NZ and just love country music. It stirs some good emotions, a pity my partner of 30 years just don't like it.
Love it! And surprised with it….
I never had the courage. Biggest regret. I'm 35. Really glad to see how accepted we are now. My advice to anyone... Be who you are and follow your heart. Don’t give a damn what anyone thinks.
^^ THIS. Took me a long time to get there. 💙
you are 35 not dead. There is still time. Don't be too harsh on yourself.
You’re only 35 - I came out when I was 45, married with children - I regret a lot in life, but not finally living my truth. That was 7 years ago and yes, I still sometimes struggle, but songs and videos like this will make it easier for younger generations to land on their feet a lot sooner. I wish you all the best
Bro 35 is not too late for anything. Take it from someone the same age as you who took longer than most to realize that. You do you!
I started pursuing guys recently (at 32). Neither me (bi) nor my boyfriend (gay) is out but COVID put a lot of things in perspective.
I got tired of being alone and wondering the "what ifs".
The world doesn't need to know what we are. We have each other and are taking day by day.
I'm also not afraid to say that this is my first true relationship.
Grew up in South Texas. Escaped that environment and moved to Colorado to be Free. Free to be me. Married my husband in 2015…We just both listened to this song and tears of joy are in our eyes. My hope and wish for you is you blow the roof off the good ole boys houses and become so damn main stream that NO ONE will ever be able to deny your talent, life and humanity!!! Well done sir!!

Just played this to my country music producer father here in Australia and he loved it to bits. "It's just so good!" - reminded him of country in the 60s in the best way. You've got new fans in both me and my dad, he's in his 70s and country through and through and loves your message and songwriting! 💙💙💙 Spent this morning discussing queer country artists across the decades with him and it was such a special conversation that wouldn't have happened without you.

Also a cis woman, and I've been avoiding this one for the past few days because I was afraid it was going to be an anti song for some reason. Maybe because I've never heard a country song like it? Has there ever been a country song like it? I don't think so. But I finally broke down and clicked today and I'm so glad I did. Beautiful song.

It's difficult for people to realize the impact something like this would have on a kid growing up in Rural Southern Louisiana. 43 now, married to my husband of 21 years. I truly hope you younger folks appreciate the place were in where something so beautiful and relatable as this can exist on a platform like this. It may seem like a little thing, but things like this are a catalyst for people struggling with their identity, fighting against their own upbringings and beliefs to be their authentic selves and give themselves the opportunity and allowance to be happy in their own skin. I'm sure this artist recognizes what this could mean to so many who grew up in these small towns, but if you don't consider yourself notified. Keep up the great work despite my compliments on the message make no mistake you are a wonderful singer and the song is fire. WOOFS to both of you Bears :)

I can’t scream “Well done” louder or long enough!!! Not only is the message legit, the vocals are fire! I can both freedom and angst in your voice! POWERFUL!
So much freedom, so much angst! 🙏💙
I loved it! One of these days I’ll shake your hand, but for now, thank you! You definitely have a new fan. I’m glad I stumbled upon this video! #noCoincidences 💙
*I can hear both freedom and angst is what l meant lol
Chris, what a beautiful song! May all of us be forever guilty as sin. ❤

You know for the past year, I have discovered some amazing artists that have caused me to add a little bit of country to my daily playlist. You sir have just been added. Great song and video. I felt every word of it. I'm hoping to find my special person soon. Currently getting over a three-month relationship breakup and this song really made me smile. Thank you.
I grew up in rural NH when even finding someone to have a fleeting moment with so hard, emotionally but also practically. It’s so nice to have music I grew up with finally reflect my experiences 💜
I lived something similar, years ago, without the country music. But we stayed faithful to objectives greater than our own and we moved on. My heart never changed. I till love him. But I'm here to tell you, straight or gay. men need men. And the divisions thrust upon us are the greatest crime.
Nice to see LOVE take center stage, thanks Chris.
You know, it is refreshing to see "Normal Looking" men in love! Really awesome song and how my life would have changed if I could have seen this when I was, say 16 years old. Almost all my guy friends looked just like this BTW! I am now 70. Found the man of my dreams at 33 and never have let him go. Guess that makes me Guilty as well!! Thanks!!!!
Never been a true listener of country music. Yes Shania, a couple females, finally a song about "Love" and not being ashamed. Brava.
Growing up with a Perto Rican Dad Mom country and Cherokee Indian. We we always told never to be ashamed of who we are because we're all made in The Image of God.
Dad a monster always said you are all my Blessings and God made you. Go live find true Love Joy Happiness and it will bring me Joy no matter who you find it with. Great song the Light shines bright knowing Love is Love.
Small town, Kansas here. I felt this. 🧢
I’m from a small town in SW Kansas originally! 💙
This has to be one of the sexiest country music videos ever. My heart is pounding.
Thank you for helping steer country music back to sanity.
Trying!
I too grew up in the rural south during the 50’s & 60’s and always felt that there was something wrong with me. It has taken a long time and lots of work in therapy 3:01 , but the shackles are loosening each day. This frees my heart, my mind, and soul. From the bottom of my heart - THANK YOU!
Good fortune and prosperity to you and yours.
Wow. I can't even imagine what that was like. And we looove therapy. So happy this resonated with you and allowed you to feel a little more free. From the bottom of my heart thank YOU for sharing! ❤️
Went thru this same kind of thing-thinking I was sinful for my feeling-all it did was take my sweet relationship wih Jesus away from me for many years and that hurt but when I was in my forties I found out Jesus always loved me and never turned his back on me. I embrace him and worship him--he is and always was my lord avd savior.
I was like taken back to 2013, listening to a country music while staring at my high school crush.
I love country 🎵 this is a vibe. 🙌🏽 Live your truth 💯🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
Thank you for the music, brother. Born and raised in NC. Mother side was supportive. Father side was weird.
Just beautiful- love the minor chord in the chorus too- great tune, great video!
Absolutely beautiful song and video. I'm not your typical country music fan, but there are several artists and songs I sincerely appreciate, and this is certainly one. The passion is apparent and the story is so familiar. Their movements from one scene to another seems natural, organic and authentic. I kinda love it.
Thank you 🥹🙏💙
My new favorite county song and singer

Chris. Thank you so much for this. I’ve always loved the feel/sound of country music but couldn’t get past the politics around most of it. I completely gave up listening to country radio when they black-listed the chicks.
To have this country sound with this inclusive message…. Just WOW.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Keep it coming.
Damn. Country music has never felt very accessible to me. I’ve rarely felt this intrigued to dive deeper into a country artist’s work. Thank you for opening that door and making a small corner of the genre for people who haven’t traditionally felt welcome to it. 🥹
Beautiful song. You can feel the sincerity of his feeling. I think I do like country music.
;]
Everything about this is beautiful. The song, the video, but surprisingly even the comments. It does my heart good to see people rooting and supporting one another from all ages and walks of life. That is the power of music done right, well done, sir! I can't wait to witness what's next and all the amazing things you accomplish. 💙
SHOCKED at the comments! I was so prepared to see so much hate, and it’s been the opposite 🤯🥹🙏 I love it so much
Well alright, I think I'm a fan of country music now. Thank you algorithms...😅😍
💯
I'm IN LOVE with the song and video🌈🤗🌈🤗🌈 It's beautiful♥️
You don't have any idea how much. this song has meant to me.. I am 75 years old. I just wish. that we had music like us when I was growing up. Thank you so much. My only real regret is I will not live long enough to see the incredible journey you're taking.
Damn, wish this song was released before my wedding day😄
