I frequently get questions about what I do for a living. So I thought, since I'll be working from home for the foreseeable future I'd take you with me on my last day in the office. As you can imagine, working in the legal department of Amazon exposes one to a ton of confidential information. So I couldn't take you on a full day (i.e. conference calls, meetings, etc.). But I'll do another one of these showcasing what my work from home routine as an Amazon contracts manager is like.

This is an old video at this point. But I’ve been looking for a day in the life video specifically in contract management at Amazon! So this is perfect. I’m currently contract administrator/ warranted contract officer in the United States Air Force, but I want to transition to Amazon as a contract manager is that possible without a JD ?
Sorry this one wasn’t longer and more in depth! It was my last time in the office! You definitely can be in this position without a JD.

@@JayMili1995 awww no problem!! One tip is don’t apply until you’re really confident you have the time and experience behind you. Bc if you don’t get the role they won’t consider you again (if you apply again) for another 2 years
@@TheRudgeFam wow thats huge, but i am confident in my time and experiences. I’ve been doing contracting procurement with Government contracts for nearly 10 years, stateside and overseas with foreign entities. Im more nervous about the interview process and the 14 leadership principles and how to incorporate my answers to align with the Amazon values. I think I just need to study them and formulate a solid answer.
@@JayMili1995 that’s awesome! The interview process is intense but as long as you have examples of how you demonstrated the leadership principles in your role as a CM you’ll be fine! And try not to repeat examples for multiple leadership principles and for different interviewers. Bc we all meet up and discuss the examples after the interview. So it helps to have different examples to go over to make a decision.
OMG! I have an interview for this role and I cannot find ANYTHING online. Of course my recruiter has given me the basic AWS readings in regards to the interview prep, but are you open to chatting / answering specific questions for me?
Thank you for this! I have a JD waiting to be licensed and minimal contract drafting, red-lining experience. Do you have any advice for someone wanting to breaking into contract management?
Do you think someone new could negotiate working from home as a contracts manager?
I think it depends on the company honestly. if the position with the company is a strictly remote position then you're all set. if not, i know companies like new employees to come into the office until they're more familiar with the routine. in general though, i think everything can be negotiated. even if you're just suggesting working from home 2-3 days a week.

I’m a lawyer. But my role is a little different from a typical contract admin role.
