Love that casket layout! The “ received” was very clever and loved the spirits floating away!

Your work is an inspiration. I’ve been watching videos and getting ideas. I’m away from home and will have to make mine later but now I know how to present it b

The doctor with the beaked mask was known as a Plague Doctor. I would be scared if he were to come into my house! I like your way of making up a book for the story of Craftly Hall. I like the coffin-shaped tag with the "nails" you put on it! It fits in on the page with Casket Co stamped on it! I love the raven die cuts that you use, too! Thanks for sharing! ~Janet in Canada

Right, the reason for the mask was that the stench of death was so strong it was unbearable. They would make a pot pourri type mixture of dried flowers, herbs, and spices like lavender and put it in the beak. They believed the good smells would cancel out the disease. This was during bubonic plague epidemics in the 16th & 17th centuries. Most of them were not medically trained at all. They were hired by the cities to record death tolls and rates of infection. They didn't cure people. Some of them did take advantage of those desperate for a cure like bloodletting, frogs and leeches.
