Steve, I really dig the musical nuggets you throw into your reviews. Even if I haven't the slightest interest in the product being reviewed, I always hang around just to check out what you listened to.
Thank you Steve, those who are on short budget we aprecriate! But we love alve also high end audio!
Steve that is a classic way to describe Pavarotti, singing his arse off that made me chuckle many thanks.
I feel like Steve has reached audio nirvana! It's very nice to see someone who has so much experience in stereo equipment review a pair of humble speakers :D
I had the A2's for a couple of years on my desk until they over heated and started buzzing. I was able to return them through their warranty and was given the option to upgrade to the A5. I chose the bamboo finish and after couple of years it split apart. I was able to return them through their warranty and was given the option to upgrade to the HD6. After 4 years I have had no issues with them other than they are too big for my desk.
That Klipsch looked monstrously huge behind Steve today!
Because they are?
The Cornwalls are cute little speakers.
Just a little flex there^^
i have the A5 and it is very good, i paid 200€ years ago..... still working fine
Steve is pretty hip for a seventy-something, listening to Boards of Canada.
I'm 62 and also listen to BOC. One of my best friends is 65 and he can turn 20 somethings onto young bands they've never heard of. Keep your ears and mind open and stay in love with your musical journey for life!
Steve, a suggestion. You review a lot of bookshelf speakers in the course of a year. Most if not all of them you like very much. At the end of the year perhaps you could go through all of them and do a segment where you order them from the very best to the least preferable. As always your pieces are very informative and enjoyable. Thanks!
There will be one or two, or maybe three best speakers of the year.
Thanks!
Mr.Steve I Shure here are a lot of people that love muisc and follow you, but I thank God the fact that at last I got to meet you thru your wonderful you tube channel!!!, I have been your follower since the day that magazines were king in the publishing medium, I was a 13 year old teenager when I used to read your articles in stereo magazine and many other publications!, I could never imagine that I will meet your here of all the places, I followed all your advice thru the years , they had never fail me, so I give you my thanks for giving me so much all this years, I pray to god it will fill you with abundant health and love, so you may continue guiding us in the right path to love and enjoy music as much as you have done it yourself, finally you have my sincere devotion as a follower and as I friend, and if the lord will allow our path to cross, it will be a honor to serve you in any way I can, please do continue making the audiofiliac for many years to come, thank you my friend.
Felipe, it is a pleasure to meet you.
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Thank you is a pleasure too.!!!!
I like that grey. It also GOES with your shirt.
Pavarotti & Lou Reed That's a Walk on the Wild Side, for sure!!
Ha!
Well said!
Just subbed.
Thanks Sir!
Just bought my first Beatles' record again, Mono Yesterday and Today.
Can't wait to crank Dr. Robert.
You and your family stay safe during the holidays.
I'm not no high end audiophile but i know good sound when i hear it. I picked these up from Amazon for $200 and my dad accidentally found an Audioengine S8 sub at a second hand store brand new for $100. Moral the story is that I've never been happier with $300.
Thank you for the review, I always wondered what you were up to after the Police Academy movies.
I've had 4 great years with my beautiful, passive Audioengine P4N bamboo speakers. I power them with an Onkyo TX-8270, augment them with a Klipsch 125W sub, and feed them with my desktop gaming tower, (which i use to watch your youtube videos with).
:)
I love my A5 model connected to my iPad, streaming movies, streaming music, great sound
My OCD recommends pairing these with one of those old, Carver Sunfire subs for three, hopefully similar sized, boxes. 🙃
I have the A5+ speakers on my desktop with the D1 DAC and they are very nice. For the price, I think they are marvelous.
I still find Bluesound speakers pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good! They seem build more for actual needs. The streaming capabilities are very good options among things like sound quality.
great review, i've got the audioengine B1 bluetooth receiver which is hooked upto my Cairn hifi (Dali speakers) and using my laptop to stream music via AptX...and to my ears it's cd sound quality... :)
I love how the speaker terminal looks huge on that small cabinet lol but another good speaker selection for those that might be looking, good stuff!
I loved how they sounded for their size but that slot port was noisy as hell even at moderate volumes so I returned them. I hoped hooking up a powered sub would alleviate this but the speakers run full-range whether or not you connect a subwoofer. Perhaps if the ports were in the back the chuffing would be less obvious. They'd probably be better if they were sealed with passive radiators instead, but that would make them far more expensive.
Ive had a pair of these for a couple years and they are great for the computer. Really need a sub though.
The Fluance Ai40 comes with a remote and is very much appreciated. Great speakers too!
After seeing your videos, I believe I can be described as a low budget audiophile, and this speaker fits my budget 🤓
Been using the HD3 on my computer, love them.
Ah, so spend an extra $150 and get the HD3. Got it.
@@thomashobbes8786 yeeep or buy cheaper and better speakers then A1
Thank you Steve for the very good review! I just watched your review for KEF ls50.. is this sounds good as the ls50 that what you express? I am confused... what’s different between those two speakers? And I don’t really care about the remote.
Sorry you didn’t get it, but I thought they were enough cues in this review to let you know it’s not an audiophile speaker. The LS 50 is vastly better.
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Great! Thanks Steve! Could you make an episode for people like me the average music lover to explain the difference between those people and audiophile, and how big the gap between the gears. Thank you Steve for your respond and very appreciated your passion! That is wonderful!
Nice budget option for desktop or small room. Plug and play with a source.
,,Is pretty freaking good ,,, That is more than sufficient No more commends are necessary (see your video before the present one)
Just discovered this channel. I have always been interested in audio and sound quality although my emphasis is on the music. Provided the sound system you use does not substantially detract or diminish the essence of a musical composition, then keep exposing yourself to different musical genres and musical artists.
You can believe Steve, almost always. (His taste in music is eclectic, in a good way.) The rest of the channels on hifi on YT should be greatly calibrated. Some are salesmen in audiophile clothes, but never admit it. Others have little depth of knowledge, but talk just as loud. Some are hugely skewed by the free stuff they get, a.k.a. "influencers." A few have petty grudges to settle. *Each adds something, and each subtracts something.*
The trick is to learn the difference. Caveat emptor.
Welcome to the channel, and our little community of commentators.
Hope you enjoy your time here. : )
I have audioengine hd3. Does not work well from the phone or tablet because they need a better input. It is sound great with a pc and a soundblaster
Awwww they're so cute 😍
Some people love music .
Some people with too much money love ...........nothing but them self. Dont be pushed by them .
Enjoy your hobby its not about big amounts of money ..
Thank you Steve!
I'm so glad your video on this product! What might be a step up for this product?
Considering the A2's got completely shit on by the vanatoo t0's, I dont expect much more from these.
Thanks for mentioning those. I was on the lookout for new desktop speakers, and now I'm all excited.
@Keşfet Tv That means it needs to be dramatically better than any other audioengine product.
what about those diffusers (?) in front of the tv screen? do they make a substantial difference?
They must make enough of a difference for Steve to continue using them...
Looks like Fostex (low-mid) drivers and that is never a bad thing.
Love this channel. Trying to come up with one adjective to describe Steve -
IMPISH
LOL
You probably couldn't tell the difference between these and the Cornwall IV's if you just used a $7200 PT Barnum-brand Unobtanium radion-free speaker cable to interconnect the pair. ;)
It's nice (really) to hear your thoughts on kitchen or spare bedroom devices. Really. And my newest Bluetooth devices don't sound *that* bad -- just not for prime time.
Thought you were going to say "kitchen appliances"... 😅
review the HD3 ... that's been my baby for 5 years. and their A9 bass speaker for super sound stage
Just out of interest, what’s the difference between these and the A2+? I can’t quite work out where these sit in the range.
I’ve got to tell you, I have the a2+ and I’m constantly surprised by them. They sit on my desktop. Might add a cheeky little sub soon, too. I mean l, why not? 🤔😎
Ps. LOVED the review of the Kef meta speakers. Your excitement is contagious.
From what I can tell, these are probably the same as the A2+'s, except for the appearance, lack of DAC and difference in connections. Specs aside from that, as well as the overall size, appear to be the same. Seems to me like a cheaper version of the A2+ with less connectivity that probably sounds about the same.
Jeff Wiesneski thanks!
All I can say is "FLASHBACK!" when the spring loaded speaker terminals were shown. They still make them??? (yeah, they do - I just bought some for a low end build I'm playing around with).
What about that new top TOTL Technics integrated. Why are there no more reviews of their stuff?
Technics SL G700 SACD player review coming very soon.
Hey Steve would you prefer these over the Edifier Eclipse 25eHD?
Hi Steve , what is the purpose of the analog sensitivity switch on some speakers? I have read the owners manual of my speaker but I really don’t understand, thank you.
Hey Steve, how would these compare with the Fluance Ai60 (or Ai40)? A few more features, remote more power, etc. Same price.
I'm sure either one of those would trounce these. Size matters. I like the gray simplistic look though.
Okay, you've got a lot of gear, good for you. But, please... one product at a time per video. I came here to learn more about the A1s.
I have the Audioengine A5 (not wireless) for years now and they are super handy - plug in an old phone and stream away stream away (not Enya tho lol). I listen a lot with them 1-3 metres aaway and easy to move around the apartment. A little bass-y at times, I'd trade the volume on the bass for a bit deeper. People have described them as a gateway to audiophile and its true im ready now for some Buchardt A500 or KEF LS50Wii. Would love a comparison between those!
steave if you boosted your iso a bit or added some more light to your scene youd probably remove that noise
Steve, will you be doing a Schiit Sol review?
Maybe, not this year...
I wonder if this has the 120hz bump like the A2s, absolute murder if you don't have dampening on your walls (assuming desktop setup)
No, it doesn’t have the pump. Happy now?
"I turned a corner and I went to a very bizarre place." I heard Keroauc.
How do they compare to the a2+?
Hello i have a yamaha dsp ax763 ,and i want to upgrade my speakers i only listen to music, what should i get q acoustics q3050i or indiana line tensi 561?
Is UA-cam deleting my reviews or the channel owner? They keep disappearing.
whats the BEHEMOTH of a speaker in the background i want one.
Those are Klipsch Cornwall 4 speakers
Steve reviewed them a while back
Seeral people I know would be interested inpurchasing her shirts if the were avaiable for sale somewhere like your audiophiliac shirts are.
My A5s overheated and now I don’t know what to do with them. Even if I could get them repaired they’ll just overheat again.
Pretty sure Lou was thinking, "What am I doing here?"
would work well on the bench for video editing. not going anywhere near my gear >:)
Yes
So probably not great on my desk about 18” away from my face in a teeny tiny room with zero soft furnishings...
Umbilical speaker wire always kills me with wireless speakers.. 2 Sonos 1 for double the price!
Steve...Where Can I buy a cucumber shirt? Please...?
I have the only one, made by Mrs Audiophiliac
Listened to Lana Del Ray, Please Don't Let me Be Misunderstood.
Wish I hadn't - URP
Yep. I like Lana but wish I woulda missed this one
These small speakers sitting on those horn speakers 😅. Like a pimple.
Those very cheap boxes, with electronics included, will not sound very good. Just acceptable at best. Good drivers and crossover parts have their price
@Lloyd Stout
Amazing how many people miss the point. You get it though.
Sennheiser hd560s. ☺
If these aren't good for sitting in front of a computer do you have a recommendation?
Audioengine A2+
@@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac Aren't these basically the same thing as the A2+ minus the DAC and difference in connections. They look to have the same tweeter and woofer, are about the same size and the specs are pretty much the same.
did the dreadful mistake... DREADFUL, yes, with capital letters.. of listening to lana del rey "don't let me be misunderstood". she really butchered the song... and yes, of course is extremely compressed, with a very "affected" voice, trying so hard to sound interesting.. completely flat, no dynamics of any sort!! unbearable.
themastroiannis thank God, I thought it was just me. I keep buying LDR cd's thinking they'll be good but nope! Did it again last month, I never learn.
I'm pretty sure bluetooth is a digital connection.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😎😎
143.000 (!)
For the restroom or elevator are sueficient.

Wow you waffle on mate
Not gonna lie, those look ugly in my opinion.
upgrade your camera the noise around the edges is almost evil.
Weird.
loquacious

No point banging on. Just to a sound demo.
You won't hear it on here.
You hi-fi people sure spew some bullshit.
Spew all the bullshit you like and sound demo is still far more useful than banging on.
@@Stikibits we never listen to music on here, we just talk about how good it sounds
yep, just bang on.
It's one of those things from hiu-fi mags.
They want to get you into a store so they can sell you something. One of those bullshit cables or potions maybe?
It's so last century.
Total dissapointment...
Dont speak..at all
