Petit was one of the best player in the world. Love to watch him played 👍💯
Petit is everything Xhaka should be. Not the most mobile (although not slow) but he was technically excellent, was very combative but not over the top with it. He could pass, could travel with the ball a bit and he read the game very well. His understanding with Vieira was exceptional, they both knew when one went forward the other dropped, it was almost telepathic.
He is what Xhaka thinks he is but nowhere near actually.
It will surprise no one that Petit does not respect Xhaka as a footballer. Xhaka is barely even a fraction of the player Petit was.
Xhaka was just now given a yellow card for a blatant filming, and Petit was in the crowd watching it...he did not look pleased, when they zoomed on him, after the situation ^)^
Doesn't matter what anybody says Vieira/Petit were the best central midfield partnership in the history of the premiership.
If Arsenal had someone like him now…

Have to say, Petit and Vieira were the best Central MF partnership Arsenal have ever had…they had everything…they were superb together in every aspect, they could control games with their passes and runs, but also knew how to tackle, and could never, ever be bullied by the opposition..

Petit was as good if not better than Vieira at this time, Patrick took his game up a level with Gilberto Silva but before Petit left I couldn't split them, that's how good he was

Petit was as good as Gilberto Silva and song
Different style to Gilberto, Petit was a defence minded box to box where as Gilberto was more of a traditional DM who rarely joined the attack. Song never really nailed down what he was, but he was nowhere near both Petit and Gilberto level. He had one good season too.
@@gladiatorscoops4907 Gilberto was more than a traditional DM in his first two seasons at Arsenal. While still playing with Vieira, Gilberto was very dynamic, he was joining the attack when he had the opportunity, he was quite good at making late runs. Petit had better long passes, but Gilberto had great vision too, and always made great piercing passes. He played as a traditional DM after Vieira left, but with Vieira he had the freedom to switch to a box to box at times, not just sit in front of the defence and was very mobile.
Petit was WAAAY better than Song, what an insult to a World Cup winner who even scored in the final.
Gilberto wasn't as good as Petit. There were times Gilberto would get dropped for Edu. Petit had so much more to his game and put himself about more, scored the odd goal.
Petit was far closer to as good as Vieira than Gilberto was to him
