Absolutely amazing work with this - Congratulations!
When I saw your tweet about this I didn't expect such immaculate tracking. Well done to everyone involved with this video!
Thank You!
Hullo it’s Scott Manley here

As a kid, this is the way rockets always landed in the Sci-fi movies.... So nice to see it happening in real life today.
Wich movie?
@@s.engineer4502 Forbidden Planet, From the Earth to the Moon, Thunderbirds (ship 3), Destination Moon, Flight to Mars, Have Rocket Will Travel, Rocketship X-M... the list goes on. Basically anything before1965.
@@ramosel ok thanks dude
Art imitates life then life imitates art
The one that these kinds of landings remind me of is from 1959 - The Twilight Zone; The Lonely.
I'm an old guy, watched rockets go up since the 1960's, never imagined I would live to see the day when rockets landed like in the scifi movies, so I never get tired of watching them landing. Still the coolest thing I have ever seen. Thank you Elon for making that happen.
Isn't it though?? I fully agree!
And the very best ones are the Falcon Heavy boosters coming back in tandem, perfectly offset by a few seconds for best effect. That is simply stunning every single time.
Great people'great technology usa love from india..
Possibly the best video ot the first stage returning, ever! Fantastic!
Thank You!
@skysurfer I agree fully. A true masterpiece!
Unbelievable tracking. Excellent work. Glad you guys are out there.
Thanks!
@@Uslaunchreport As always!
8:48 The eye of Sauron has entered the chat.
I'm in awe. This is the best Falcon 9 launch footage I've ever seen. SpaceX should hire you.
agreed! It's nuts that this isn't some SpaceX official footage
I think this is the first time I've seen fully resolved film of a booster all the way up, and then all the way down. Fantastic tracking here, that's really cool servo control and software, and a tracker scope+detector too. Best imaging ever.
That footage from the 18" is incredible. The entire first stage flight with all those thrust adjustments. I've never seen anything like it.
I’ve been watching these intently since the Falcon Heavy test launch blew my mind a couple of years ago. This entire process of how to launch payloads and get the 1st stage back safely on the ground for reuse is f__g amazing! Falcon 9 is the reliable launch workhorse that will go down in history as the first, and most productive & efficient means of getting stuff up there. Bravo, Elon. Bravo!
So that's why the boosters return home covered in soot! They fly back through their own kerosine rocket exhaust plume blasted back up at due to the onrushing air they are plunging back to the earth through. The zoom shots of the retro burn phase very clearly shows this.
Your 18" telescope has given the best spacecraft tracking shot I have ever seen. Great work. Congratulations!
I heard that beautiful hollow pipe sound with that landing burn the very 1st time here. Thank you.
A hundred landings later and it is still spell binding.
Wow, that entry burn turned into the Eye of Sauron!!!
Ho hum - 102 orbital class booster returned to earth. That makes them 102 boosters ahead of the rest of the competition combined.
On the 18” telescope view. . . Really Cool. We hear the delay on the sound of landing burn starting, then we see the landing legs deploy for a soft touchdown, and THEN we get the Sonic Boom. . . awesome! Great stuff, folks. Well done!
That was actually an edited soundtrack there. The sonic boom is always heard before the engines are heard, as it is the wave front behind which all of the sound is traveling. So that sound track got messed up somehow. You can't hear a sonic boom after you hear the entire landing burn and engine shutdown. It's physically impossible.
You hearing the engines burning is actually the entry burn! Not the landing burn. Landing burn is after sonic booms
awesome
@@matthewsanetra This is incorrect, for 2 reasons:
1. The altitude at which the entry burn takes place is far too high; The atmosphere at that level is far too thin for sound waves to efficiently propagate through.
2. At the point of entry bun, the vehicle is traveling at multiple mach values, and is out-pacing the sound waves it is generating by upwards of ~3x. The vehicle is only being out-paced by the sound waves once it slows to less than Mach 1.0, which only occurs less than a minute before it touches down.
So even if the sound waves from the entry burn were able to propagate through the thin atmosphere just as they do at 50k feet, they would still arrive at the ground long after the vehicle had landed, and long after the sonic booms are heard.
That being said, the sound of the entry burn is never heard at ground level.
I’ve seen over one hundred of these landings from other videos, but the up close, tracking shots done by the excellent team at US Launch Report bring back the awe and magic from the first landings 6 years ago. I appreciate the artistry and skill it takes capture the magic of a SpaceX landing. Thank you, US Launch Report.
Thanks!
@@Uslaunchreport I hope viewers understand the time, planning, dedication, resources, and talent it takes to capture these launches, 1st stage landings, as well as the return of the 1st stages to port.
"Artistry and skill" is exactly right! It's great to see videographers who actually take artistic pride in their work.
I love to hear those two sonic booms.
I'm a disturbed traditional native of Papua New Guinea and I'm so thankful SpaceX is bringing me the Internet so I can enjoy social media & dating hookups...like cool peeps have in Bora Bora! My goal is to emigrate to Boca Chica where I can study taxidermy & head shrinking, especially using craniums of smart young engineers for my practice! I hear machetes are numerous & cheap in Texas & on Amazon Prime which makes life - but a dream! ;-)
You guys are great!!! Saved me having to risk my health going down there to Covidland! Everyone VACCINATE AND BOOST! Save the planet! We can’t leave like this!!!
I don't know about you, but this never gets old.
Iconic footage. This is an incredibly rare view of a boostback RTLS sequence. Thank you for posting it. More please!
Thanks, It is much easier in the winter
Amazing that you can even see the thruster pulses in daylight. Outstanding tracking work guys
Never gets old watching the first stage boosters landing.
Dude... last view of the landing was the best. thumbs up!!
Seeing the supersonic rocket exhaust creating its own bow shock wave in the Cannon footage was interesting to see.
Bloody beautiful
This is absolutely the best (of the best) tracking shots of Falcon9 launch and return. Nothing comes even remotely close. Congratulations.
Awesome just Awesome.
I can't get enough of these landings. Gives me a lump in my throat on each one. Absolutely marvellous.
Each successful landing makes space travel that much more viable for humanity. Saves a bucketload of money and effort / materials each time.
I love to watch these US Launch Report replays after watching launches. These videos are exactly what the naked eye sees from Central Florida, but in detail the naked eye missed.
This was a surprisingly visual launch considering the time of day. The boostback sequence was completely visible right through reentry. Unusual for mid day launches which typical are washed out by the bright sky.
Very memorable visually.
Thank you USLR for your hard work and dedication!
Just incredible work here.
I was waiting for for this video. Thanks for your hard work. A 5500km speedy body flip & flying backwards & lands on its own leg its most crazy scene yet.
Fantastic camera work as usual. well done chapps, keep up the good work 👍🖖
So many bloobers & fumbles through the early years, payed off, now the falcons do these *heat burn dive capades* like natural.
It never gets old!
This stuff makes life worth living.
This view really shows how much pressure is in those nitrogen bursts of its manuvering jets.
@Inkster147 It's just a 1 bar difference from sea level though.
I was waiting for this. Even better than I ever imagined. The brutal adjustments during landing burn are epic
NEVER GETS OLD !
So… the First stage has 4 ignitions on it by the time it lands… cool
Опличео! Спасибо)
The best footage on return landing of Falcon 9.
Perfect visual and sound,thanks.
That is way too cool👌🇦🇺
nice traking. From START to FINISH.
Прекрасно проделанная огромная работа, достойная восхищения !
This is the most incredible view of a Falcon 9 I have ever seen!
Seeing the booster propel the second stage up to speed, release it and then turn around then come home.
For anyone who isn't familiar with what goes on during a Falco 9 launch, this illustrates it beautifully.
Cool video mate.
this never gets old.
Awesome footage....
In a word........... Amazing.
Never get tired of the plumes from the thrusters.
Is peice équis é is peice équis, Lindo d+. Parabéns ótimo video!
10:16 Look how much the rocket throttles up to reach a perfect deceleration to a dead stop in the last 100 ft. Wow SpaceX
Starship dead stop hover will be at 180-240 feet. Then it will be grabbed and held. Gonna be awesome.
@@MrPietersc Starship has on its favour being able to hover, Falcon 9 can't
@@JULIAN11. Yes, you can do that with so many engines!
@@awuma Nope, a booster can't do that and that's the exact reason why they attempt suicide burn.
A merlin engine with minimum possible throttle has got more thrust than a empty booster's weight
@@JULIAN11. F9 can, it just doesn't because of fuel and efficiency constraints; There is no reason for it to need to. There is footage of it hovering over water for a few seconds before shutting down. (Now, I know NISHANT KUMAR is going to take issue with that, but he'll be wrong if he does. ;-)
Never gets old.
Awesome how SpaceX smooth the landing.
WOW seeing the actual flip like that is nuts!
Thanks!
Thank You!
thanks guys that was crazy good !!
Great perspective. This never gets old.
Amazing tracking!
It takes extreme human talent to capture these incredible images. Kudos to the team. The dedication to their artistic craft is appreciated.
This was visually incredible
Outstanding multiple views of the most Buck Rogers sh!t you will see today!
Incredible footage!
It is truly amazing that Spacex can do this. Basically, reverse the precise path over such distance and altitude and be so precise as to have a pin point landing. Every burn, every venting, every minuscule adjustments to grid fins....so many variables which requires exacting precision. Nothing short of amazing engineering and execution. WOW!
And the Russians and Chinese are eager to steal this tech
man no matter how mant times I watch a rocket landing, its been aways mesmerizing.
glad to live and see humanity accomplishing such control, opening doors to new grounds
Very nicely done. Thanks Mr. Geiger. You made my day
Will it ever get old seeing these rockets land. This is really amazing and futuristic, the kind you only saw in movies and cartoons as a kid.
Agree. So nice when SpaceX is able to show the world the incredible precise mathematics/engineering involved with each launch. No two launches are exactly the same. Each launch has different telemetry, yet they make it all look easy.
Simply amazing
This is the best Falcon 9 launch footage I've ever seen.
That sound was awesome and that view, you can see all the way to space.
Well then....that made my morning....that was pretty epic tracking! Well done!
Never get tired watching the booster landings 🙌
First time viewer to this channel. Nice compilation. Nicely done, great job.
That Was Awesome. Full tracking from to liftoff to staging to landing. First I've ever seen.
Beautiful work. Thank you.
Why can't we apply this kind of science and ingenuity toward 'the humanities.
We need a freaking booster!
Super cool views, can almost imagine how it would look with Super Heavy landing too, thats gonna be some sight to see
I love the Eye for Sauron moment as the re-entry burn kicks in with the three engines! Thanks fir the great footage!!!
These videos never get old, I can watch them over and over.
The way the booster can flip 180° and still have the fuel being supplied flawlessly to the engines is technically outstanding.
That bird on the signpost in the water 2:00 never even flinched at the sound of the lift-off. Some really great footage, great video.
Awesome southern launch! It was so clear you could see stage separation with your eyes!
Incredible tracking skills on the 18" telescope video, having over dubbed spacex commentary was great too. Well worth a subscription with that quality thanks
Never get bored of watching these.
I've watched a lot of these reentries and, for me, it has not gotten old yet.
10:32 Gotta love that boom 💥😄
Fabulous! I won’t ever bother trying to capture photos/video again :)
I love that you included the landing sonic booms at the 10 minute mark (missing from the SpaceX coverage).
Thanks!
Amazing video!
Congratuations. Epic track.
Insane video..🙃
That’s amazing to watch. Thank you so much.
I've watched every SpaceX launch and landing since early 2014. This footage was so good I had to watch it twice! Excellent job as always USLR team!
Ultimate footage.
So cool to see it from this perspective, nice work
Quite amazing watching those rocket motors gimble to adjust the attitude of the stage prior to touch down, and the precision of that touch down, wow, just wow. And thanks guys for this amazing footage as well, big thumbs up from me.
incredible recording👍
This is done of the best footage I have ever seen of this!
Almost unbelievable to see.
