Elementary school teacher here and found the video to be very helpful. No extra talking points or sales pitches. Thank you so much for this. I have a class set of 30 ukuleles and was dreading the string break I know is coming. Your video was exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for this! When I was in Hawai'i last month, I bought a baritone Uke and shipped it home. It appeared to have been in the store a while and the D and G strings were tarnished (D and G were steels, B and E were nylon) so they gave me a full set of complimentary strings. Woke up this morning and the G string had snapped at the tuning machine. I've restrung guitars and basses before but have never seen how to restring an instrument with a tie block. This is excellent! Gonna watch a couple more videos to make sure I understand it completely, but I am very confident I can do it with just your 5-minute video!
THANK YOU!!! I've watched a few videos on how to re-string the uke, and this is the only one to give exact measurements on how far to pull the strings through the bridge and tuners. Very helpful. 😊
Thank you so much! I put off changing my strings for 2 years partly bc I was nervous about it, but you made explained it perfectly. Had no worries with the video by my side as reference, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you! I was worried that my Ukulele was damaged or something. I am new at it and had to get one for my college class. Thank you once again for explaining!!
You saved my life, I found a ukulele and the strings were pop out. I had some extra ones to fix it and oh my god I’m so lucky I found you. The strings were fixed and it didn’t even take so long. God bless you man!
Your video made restringing my uke simple, and this was my first time doing so! I don't have a string winder but it didn't take me very long despite that. Thanks for the tutorial!
This video was VERY USEFUL. Thank you very much. I don't play the ukulele but I gave one to my wife and just picked it up and thought, "How the heck is this tuned? Big strings in the middle?"
Bought a ukulele from these guys (Nottingham branch) it was delivered with a snapped string but without hesitation they sent me a new set of strings to get me going. Lovely company
Awesome ! I just got new Ernie Ball strings today and I have the saMe Cordoba uke you have ... this is my first to change strings ty for the helpful video !
My brand new set of Galli strings came un-marked but in pairs and I had to look VERY closely to descerne which was which. Not an easy thing when one is either a beginner or - as old as I am! ; ) Thank you for this video, fundemental though it is, it helped a lot.
Trying to fix my moms 15 year old plastic shitty ukulele bc I want a guitar can't afford one and found it. Didn't have everything but did my best and it worked well enough for me to have fun with it. Thanks
This video is a good one. Curious, can you or do you have a video showing how to do this with an open headstock? I am sure the concepts are the same but does it matter how it is wound on the post? Should the winding on the actual post go above or below ? I just bought a new ukulele and 3 out of 4 strings are wound the same way and one string is different so now I am not sure if there is a right or wrong way for open headstocks.
I have 2 Leho ukulele a soprano and a tenor They are strung different than any thing I can find on the internet, could you please put a video on how they are strung. thanks.
New strings are constantly stretching! It can take 1-2 weeks for them to completely settle to the point that they will stay in tune; less if you are practicing often and tuning frequently.
okay, im doing exactly as you said and my a string pops out of the tie thing when im trying to tune it?? what is wrong? it works fine on the other ones. help pls :/
Long video lesson please,,,and make a lesson on how to restring classical guitar, because some video lesson in UA-cam is not clear, but you're a good teacher
Thank you amazing video for a newbie like me! Was panicking when my string snapped and was so scared of changing my strings. The only thing im curious about, my strings were kind of intertwined at the bridge saddle like each had their own knot then kind of the next string got hooked to the previous one before its own knot not sure if im making myself clear, looked almost as if it was one loooong string for the four strings. Does it make a difference if each knot is separate or looped together at the bridge/saddle
Do i really need yo change string, i have uke for about 2 years but only pley ot around 40 hour total. I startet pleying again hope i will stick with it this time.
Hi. I've got a tenor with hi G set of strings. I want to replace the hi G sting to low one. Do I have to replace all the strings, or just the G string? Thank you
What about uke bridges with pins like an acoustic guitar? Came here to see how to restring a Kanile’a uke with nylon strings that don’t have a ball end. I don’t know how to tie them to bridge pins.
Great video! one suggestion.. ukulele (oo-koo-le-le) NOT (U-ku-le-le). In hawaiian uku means bug/flea and lele means to jump which is how the name came to be. Back in the day when people were jamming, their fingers were like bugs jumping on the fret board. Itʻs a hawaiian word, not an english word. Thanks again for the great video.
Thanks! For folks who just want instructions, you can skip to 1:11.

Thank you! I bought a DIY ukulele and it didn’t come with any instructions! This was very helpful.
Why even buy a diy uke🥴
No instructions? They really said do it yourself don't get us involved :D
What the hell is a DIY Ukulele? Lol
Aren't all instruments DIY?

Thanks! I‘m a cellist and had therefore NO CLUE how to restring my niece‘s uke! Very helpful. 😁
Nice vid! I'm glad you mentioned the thicknesses, I was worried they labelled them wrong when I saw the thicket ones were in the middle.
Exactly the reason I came here for. Thanks for that comment. :D
Try to think of it this way: when your uke is FACING you, string one is at the top!
They would be by thickness and pitch, if not for G
Thank you! I was worried that my Ukulele was damaged or something. I am new at it and had to get one for my college class. Thank you once again for explaining!!
I had never restrung my ukulele before and this video really helped me have a smooth experience with doing it the first time, thank you!
Thanks so much! First time restringing because it seemed really daunting but this completely set me at ease!

Your video made restringing my uke simple, and this was my first time doing so! I don't have a string winder but it didn't take me very long despite that. Thanks for the tutorial!
Well done! Appreciate your Pro tips, Sam. Especially the length of string to wind onto the tuning peg. Strum your Uke every day, to keep Covid away!
Sam reminds me so much of the genius that played Baldrick in Blackadder. Makes me smile every time is see him present these magnificent videos.
This video was VERY USEFUL. Thank you very much. I don't play the ukulele but I gave one to my wife and just picked it up and thought, "How the heck is this tuned? Big strings in the middle?"
This is a great instructional video. Anyone should be able to restring their ukulele after watching this! Thanks!!!
Thank you for being precise and sticking to the tutorial. Also, huge thanks for not bursting into song!🎼🎵✔

Just such a great straight forward video... well produced and executed

Just made a travel ukulele, couldn't the right notes for tuning and the string layout. Thanks for your video.

Thank you for explaining the position, thickness and notes of the strings. 👍
Thanks! I just got a Nuvo Acoustic Plus, and I can't wait to hook it up to my pedals.
Thank you! This is the best video on restringing a uke! Totally demystified everything! 👏👏👏
How do you tie the ends of the strings exactly like in 1:44??
I’m sure you figured it out by now but this video by Córdoba helped me so much. ua-cam.com/video/kyv7uOiXsbM/v-deo.html
Super nice tutorial. Thanks for shooting and sharing.
Brilliant. Exactly what I needed and in 1/10th the time of other videos! Thank you.
thank you for clear instructions and good quality video to demonstrate
Thanks man! I am restoring a thrift shop ukelele and this was very helpful
There was no strings on it.
I accidentally messed up all my ukulele strings and this is really simple and helpful as I've never had to restring it before, thank you :D

this video was a godsend! bought a fairly cheap uke with s#!t strings, you helped me restrung it with some good ones!
I have come back home after 4 years 😁
And my parents loosened the strings so they don't get stretched.
Anyways this helped me and thank you so muchhh💕
Thank you that was awesome and to the point 🙌🏼
Thanks! Good shot of that tricky knot.
Thank you sir ... For your instructions ❤
thank you so much!!! i snapped the a string on my ukulele earlier and had it fixed hours later.
I just started the ukelele and my brother untangled it so it is/was lose so I couldn't play so it's so amazing
Very helpful video thank you!

Thank you but here’s the thing I did it a bunch of times but my ukulele gets out of tune before I even finish tuning the 4 string why ?

instructions unclear, killed a person
damn
def earned a like!
Love your video! What's the tool you're using to wind the string?
Is the 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th string of yukelele is the same thickness?
okay, im doing exactly as you said and my a string pops out of the tie thing when im trying to tune it?? what is wrong? it works fine on the other ones.
help pls :/
Excellent video
any idea what string set I would need? All my uke says is "Cordoba 10CM"
cool, highest pitch and looking at instrument straight on first string is to the right. if its in playing position its the closest to the ground?
thanks a lot for the video! what's the name of that device which you used for the tuning posts?
What is the name or item that you use too tune the strings? The electric one
a ukulele tuner?
I think the brand is Snark. They make great tuners
