Wow. It sounds awful. It unfortunately puts the ACE PRO in a bad light because it sounds *so* bad. It would have been useful to list the audio mode as well so people could see it was in that mode...or re-shoot a few scenes with it in regular audio mode so we could hear what normal mode sounds like. Thanks for making the video, it was very useful to see the difference in video quality.
Damn, the GoPro really held up in this comparison. Especially on the audio side, but I still prefer the colour from the Ace. How have you found the short focus distance on the Ace? seems to be far less noticeable in your videos and even better than the GoPro at 7:30
To be honest I haven't had any problems with the "short focus distance" on Ace Pro, It was certainly really noticable on the DJI Osmo Action 3, but they fixed it on the Action 4, Ace Pro looks great for vlogging

I bought the Insta360 Ace Pro for underwater videography and you can see in the pool it looks more defined and realistic colors, then the GoPro. Not to mention the GoPro constantly overheats When using the underwater housing.
Any tips for getting the warp to be fully gone? I just got the Ace Pro and while it's nice, I don't find it better than the GoPro Hero 12. The de-warp on the Ace Pro does not fully de-warp. I also don't find the video quality as great as everyone posts about. My side-by-side comparison shows the hero 12 to have better clarity. I use the hero in 5.3k with flat coloring. I have used the Ace Pro in 6k and 4k with flat and medium color and neither produced results as good as the Hero 12. I'm trying to find what I'm missing since most channels that post about the Ace Pro say it is superior to the Hero 12 in video quality. Any thoughts?

I don't think it is the color of the camera, I believe it was the white balance. If you do have a camera, go check the white balance or watch a video on UA-cam.
GoPro. I feel like everyone is pushing Insta and DJI for the affiliate links. I'd say in well over 75% of the comparison videos, the creators are saying the video looks better with the GoPro competitors, but I don't see it. Heck, sometimes I've wondered if they 'switched' the video! The only thing I think GoPro needs to fix is adding a mic jack. One more thing...these are action cameras, I'm not sure why everyone is making such a big deal about low light capability. I don't think about shooting with my GoPro at night.
GoPro!!! Forget HDR mode on either camera. Looks like crap on both but GoPro's colours look more natural, to my eyes. Preferences are subjective but I can't get over the fact that the Ace Pro can't be trusted to not shift colours and WB, especially under water. Colour changes are dramatic and ruin the video completely. Stabilisation is great on both cameras and non-HDR footage still looks more natural on the GoPro than on the AcePro, to my eyes. AcePro's colours are even more saturated than GoPro's. Sound was also better, more natural, on GoPro albeit a little low at times but not particularly good on either camera. They're both action cameras, they're going to be used whilst diving, kayaking, skydiving, motorcycling, etc. Sound's not a big deal. Overall, I think the AcePro is a one trick pony, with its low light capability. True, it looks great but not really a time of day when its core users are going to be doing anything though. It baffles me how this camera is being "sold" to the public here on YT by camera nerds who don't do anything more than walk around the streets at night showing how great the AcePro is in the dark in the hopes that people buy it from their affiliate links or are sponsored by Insta360. In the end it's all business but it's up to us consumers to make an educated decision. It only took a single 15 minute video from Jake to show us who's who when both cameras are used the way they're meant to be used. GoPro crushed it. Coming in & out of the house around 2:40 was quite telling. Same in the shadow of the bush during the intro. Colours are more vivid on DJI but you can match this in edit pretty easily. Stabilization might be a notch better on Insta360. Ultra lowlight was the only field it won, but it's preprocessed so hard to tell how much is it the biggest sensor --colours seems a bit out of wack too, tough gopro magenta cast is painful...
I would have ev comp -0.5 or -1.0 for the gopro standard mode to protect the highlights. Gopro also allows HDR mode in 60fps mode. Other than that in certain scenes the Ace pro has better dynamic range if the scene is constant or gradually changing and sometimes it can't keep up when going from dark to bright which is weird, maybe the AI chip cant keep up with fast pace change or its targeting your face idk. In the dark it's definitive winner, weirdly in nightlapse the image is totally blue which is pain sometimes to fix. On gopro the wider view and better handling of changing from dark to bright where better at times. Both has its pros and cons. Would like the low light capability and better HDR, but on the other hand for POV wider field of view, proper colors on lapse/nightlapse and constant brightness level on changing scenery is important as well.
I’m so happy to find a non sponsored comparison. I don’t have the money to just buy whatever so I have to decide carefully. I think I’ll go with the insta360 ace pro 😊
Wow, the sound from the GoPro is so much better and so is the video quality but what I want to know is if the Insta360 overheats like the GoPro does because any video is better than no video.
The Insta360 seems to be using some sort of dynamic white balance. You can see it as you dive under water and the color changes from greenish to light blue the deeper you go, but then as you come back up it doesn't change back go greenish. Then when you come out of the water, there is a moment where everything has a more blueish hue, and then suddenly changes. I really hope that can be disabled. The GoPro on the other hand is consistent and doesn't change without a change to the settings.
Hi Jake. I suspect that the 360AP''s set at Wind Reduction instead of stereo as based on everyone's reviews, it ought to sound not that way for sure. It should be either on par with the GP12 or slightly better. I hope I'm right. Thank you.

On the other hand, there is still this annoying white balance issue with insta360 when diving underwater, I suppose one can always lock the white balance to a certain value so AI does not do crazy things with it. I have always wondered on these reviews🤔how can one watching the video comparisons of these cameras and know which is better quality, as in most realistic in coulour and light, which camera most accurately portrays any object/subject, if we as viewers never see the real area being used? ie the colour of your pool underwater, sky, etc. we aren’t there to see the actual subject so can’t say which camera portrays it best. BTW… I am GoPro all day. Stick with the standard not a cheater brand trying to beat the original. Just purchased HERO 12 with Max mod recently and loving it! Also the new Mac OS Quik app looks like a game changer as well. Still playing with it but seamless so far. 👍🏻👍🏻enjoy!
For me GoPro is the go to camera. Insta look kind of magenta, and less info in shadows, no speaking of terrible audio, So for vlogging is a no no the audio.
Less info in the shadows?! What are you talking about?! The gopro completely falls apart in the shadows its terrible. And he made a correction, the audio on these clips were at "wind reduction" instead of "stereo", thats why it sounds like that. At the correct setting the audio on the AP is way better
@Driftuner Insta has always been behind Dji and gopro as far as audio recording goes. I watched other reviews of the ace pro and the audio is still lacking compared to other action cams.
Thanks for this. Based on what I see in the videos, the Ace Pro gives the impression of a better quality image, but when I pause randomly and compare, I think the GoPro is actually overall the better camera. The colour balance drift on the AP is bad. It's also consistently wrong on colour balance (there are enough neutral objects in most of the footage to judge against)*. It gives the impression of more dynamic range but the shadows are muddy and I would end up darkening them to hide that and then it would match what the GoPro is doing anyway. The lag on the the white balance adjust when you come up out of the water is really bad. That would be unusable footage for me if I was making a cinematic video of some kind. I'll take 10 bit recording over 8 bit to be able to fix the colour, and the GP's colour is more consistent and it's auto exposure adjustments are smoother and less attention grabbing. Also, the audio on the AP is flat out awful. The GP sucks in low light without a doubt. *It would be good to see side by side footage of the cameras locked to the same colour temperature with a reference card (colour key) in the shot in the various conditions. Even better would be to see side by side scopes.
White balance was on auto for all day scenarios, I think the only time white balance was set was to "native" for the Gopro night lapse which shows a much cooler result

I am a cycle tourist, I enjoy discovering new places, photographing monuments and highlights, etc. So far I have photographed monuments, nature, simply highlights with my cell phone. If I do this with my cell phone I either have to stop or do it while driving, which is often dangerous!!!!!!!!!! A) I'm looking for an alternative, namely a camera on the helmet or on the chest. I take photos while driving (with a cell phone or remote control), but I want to see them immediately after I take them. E.g. On the display of the mobile phone attached to the handlebars of the bicycle, whether the photo is OK, etc. B) Alternatively, I would also like to make a video and later take out the pictures using some program. What is important to me is that the photos must contain GPS data, otherwise the Komoot app will not accept them. I also want the photos to be at least reasonably high quality. But I fear that removing them from the video will compromise quality. I would also like to say that I stay on my bike for 4-6 hours and it is a problem to create 4K videos (battery life, overheating, etc.). I have the feeling each cam has their fans…but some will purchase both to cover more situations and expect the best possible results.😉 It is certain that we quickly fall into quite long tests playing with the parameters this only concerns a few people let's say a population of experts of which you are part for many of the functionalities of the action camera will remain unused and the parameters by default will be the rule. As you said, giving an opinion is always subjective. They both look really good and clearly the ace 360 is remarkably superior in lower light, but I think that overall, especially in good light, the GoPro looks slightly better in terms of color and skin tones. They are different cameras and they both have a place.
Why sound from 360Insta so terrible? The colors on Insta are also wrong, too blueish. On GoPro colors look more natural. Insta360 wins only in low light

After having every gopro since the 8 to the 12. I have to say the Acepro looks nicer but the audio still not as good. But if O would choose I would go with the Acepro
Wow insta is really struggling to get natural looking colour, so much colour shifting between frames not consistent white balance at all, generally too warm/vivid/saturated
For non professional content creators, go pro is always the best. Why? Simply because of the removable lens cover. The simple fact that you have to pay insta360 to fix your camera lens cover if it has a scratch\broken is ridiculous. Oh, and you have to ship it to them too. Not only that, it takes them months to even fix. So now you end up with nothing or you have to buy a new one as a backup whilst waiting for insta360 to fix your device. Compared to go pro where you can just pop that lens cover off and replace it with a new one in 5 seconds. There are so many reputable sellers for the lens cover too, or you can buy from go pro themselves.
I guess you haven’t been keeping up to date. The Ace Pro lens cover IS removable. For unknown reasons, insta360 has made the lens cover initially hard to remove by adding two small spots of adhesive. The lens cover has a bayonet mount with an o-ring.
@@bruceskousen5451 I saw the video. My opinion still stands. Why? Because insta360 DOES NOT sell a replacement part for it. Meaning it was not an intended outcome of their product. Heck, you would not even see any parts like this in amazon right now. IF you scratch that protector, you would still need to send you device off to insta360 so they can repair it. Waiting for weeks to months so they can return it to you. Unless some company starts producing replacement part for it, or if insta360 themselves start placing an official replacement part on their website, I'm still with go pro with this one
Ace Pro wins in low light, that’s about it. I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone who uses an action camera for its intended purpose (action stuff), at night. If you are looking for video at night, you are not looking for an action camera. Now that that is out of the way, the GoPro takes it out in my eyes.
Wrong. Plenty of races are done at night or in low light. So there has always been a need for a good camera that can take good quality video at night. GoPro has NEVER been even decent at night. It's always grainy and my phone could do a better job
Insta360 wins for night shooting and colour accuracy underwater. GoPro wins for audio It's a draw for overall picture quality and daytime colour/contrast.
Underwater his skin went so pale and blue, I wouldn't say that's accurate colour underwater. You can see the colours adjust when he comes back up. If it weren't for that off colouring underwater I'd be tempted for the ace

Underwater makes the skin look bluish and can see it readjust once he comes back up. Really just that and the audio that's putting me off the ace pro

not in these examples, but if you're wanting to go diving deeper than 10m yes, you must use the dive case

Great unbiased comparison, I like the Insta 360 for low light, and color contrast. The GP 12 was better audio on the bike and overall better audio.
I had the ace pro audio on the wrong setting, it was on wind reduction not on stereo mode which makes a huge difference in terms of sound quality

I need help. I am a cyclist. I ride 70% on the road and 30% in the mountains. I am a cycle tourist, I enjoy discovering new places, photographing monuments and highlights, etc.
So far I have photographed monuments, nature, simply highlights with my cell phone.
If I do this with my cell phone I either have to stop or do it while driving, which is often dangerous!!!!!!!!!!
A) I'm looking for an alternative, namely a camera on the helmet or on the chest. I take photos while driving (with a cell phone or remote control), but I want to see them immediately after I take them. E.g. On the display of the mobile phone attached to the handlebars of the bicycle, whether the photo is OK, etc.
B) Alternatively, I would also like to make a video and later take out the pictures using some program.
What is important to me is that the photos must contain GPS data, otherwise the Komoot app will not accept them. I also want the photos to be at least reasonably high quality. But I fear that removing them from the video will compromise quality. I would also like to say that I stay on my bike for 4-6 hours and it is a problem to create 4K videos (battery life, overheating, etc.).
Can someone please advise me which of these two cameras (gopro 10 or insta 360 4k edition) do you recommend for my purposes? Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Different scenarios related in that video to make the comparaison for those two action cams are very good to appreciate the various features detailed👍. I have the feeling each cam has their fans…but some will purchase both to cover more situations and expect the best possible results.😉 It is certain that we quickly fall into quite long tests playing with the parameters this only concerns a few people let's say a population of experts of which you are part for many of the functionalities of the action camera will remain unused and the parameters by default will be the rule. As you said, giving an opinion is always subjective. It is up to the future buyer to precisely evaluate their needs to make the best choice in their opinion...for their action camera.🙃

They both look really good and clearly the ace 360 is remarkably superior in lower light, but I think that overall, especially in good light, the GoPro looks slightly better in terms of color and skin tones. They are different cameras and they both have a place.

Why sound from 360Insta so terrible? The colors on Insta are also wrong, too blueish. On GoPro colors look more natural. Insta360 wins only in low light
the sound is because i had "wind reduction" set to on, the whole time instead of using "stereo"

GoPro is better during the day and Ace Pro is better at night. That's the simple fact.

The Insta360 Ace Pro outperforms the GoPro Hero 12 in terms of image quality, features, and overall performance. That "filter" excuse doesn't fly.

Insta better camera go pro have better audio
After having every gopro since the 8 to the 12. I have to say the Acepro looks nicer but the audio still not as good. But if O would choose I would go with the Acepro

Wow insta is really struggling to get natural looking colour, so much colour shifting between frames not consistent white balance at all, generally too warm/vivid/saturated
Ace pro colors are all over the place. Looks very unprofessional.

For non professional content creators, go pro is always the best. Why? Simply because of the removable lens cover. The simple fact that you have to pay insta360 to fix your camera lens cover if it has a scratch\broken is ridiculous. Oh, and you have to ship it to them too. Not only that, it takes them months to even fix. So now you end up with nothing or you have to buy a new one as a backup whilst waiting for insta360 to fix your device.
Compared to go pro where you can just pop that lens cover off and replace it with a new one in 5 seconds. There are so many reputable sellers for the lens cover too, or you can buy from go pro themselves.
I guess you haven’t been keeping up to date. The Ace Pro lens cover IS removable. For unknown reasons, insta360 has made the lens cover initially hard to remove by adding two small spots of adhesive. The lens cover has a bayonet mount with an o-ring.
@@bruceskousen5451 I saw the video. My opinion still stands. Why? Because insta360 DOES NOT sell a replacement part for it. Meaning it was not an intended outcome of their product. Heck, you would not even see any parts like this in amazon right now. IF you scratch that protector, you would still need to send you device off to insta360 so they can repair it. Waiting for weeks to months so they can return it to you. Unless some company starts producing replacement part for it, or if insta360 themselves start placing an official replacement part on their website, I'm still with go pro with this one
Ace Pro wins in low light, that’s about it.
I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone who uses an action camera for its intended purpose (action stuff), at night. If you are looking for video at night, you are not looking for an action camera.
Now that that is out of the way, the GoPro takes it out in my eyes.
Underwater action is very low light which is my main reason for acepro. As well as not over heating in case and being able to use hand gestures
Wrong. Plenty of races are done at night or in low light. So there has always been a need for a good camera that can take good quality video at night. GoPro has NEVER been even decent at night. It's always grainy and my phone could do a better job
Insta360 wins for night shooting and colour accuracy underwater.
GoPro wins for audio
It's a draw for overall picture quality and daytime colour/contrast.
Underwater his skin went so pale and blue, I wouldn't say that's accurate colour underwater. You can see the colours adjust when he comes back up. If it weren't for that off colouring underwater I'd be tempted for the ace
They both bend straight lines very annoying and can't be unseen when you notice it. Insta 360 audio horrible.
