If anything Jimin has a similar tone to Taemin, girl. Taemin's solo debut was almost a decade ago and he has always had this soft, sensual, haunting thing going. He has actually inspired many soloists in K-pop, that's why he is considered "the diols' idol". *Edit here: debut was over a decade ago.

She[reactor] knows Jimin, so she was only stating what she'd heard/saw others saying in regards to Taemin being similar to Jimin, and since she doesn't know Taemin it's only natural that she went by what she heard/been told... op was just clearing up a common misunderstanding. Tbh, sometimes I think it's a grammar or misconception thing(depending on the person and the delivery of their response). Bc he and a lot of other K-pop artists(including the other members) have multiple role models in the industry, which they have mentioned plenty of times, esp during their pre-debut/debut era lol Taemin and Taeyang are some of Jimins'. SHINee and Big Bang were and still are an inspiration to many, just like how BTS is an inspiration to many today... it’s a natural occurring cycle lol James Brown(who also had many role models), was MJs' role model, MJ was Taemins', Taemin is Jimins' and now Jimin is a role model to many today. Everyone has or has had a role model at some point in their life... Taemin being Jimin's role model doesn't dismiss/take away his talent, hard work & dedication, Jimin is Jimin, that's why ppl love & adore him and the same goes for anyone else that has a role model(s). Age also shouldn't matter either bc although Taemin is only 2yrs older than Jimin, he has been in the industry for over 16yrs with more experience and is still growing as an artist today🙂
FIRST TIME? WHAT!!! Yall are in for a journey and I'm sooooo excited for it!!!!!!! Taemin is part of SHINee, a highly-respected experimental and contemporary group from 2nd gen kpop. They have been relevant ever since, always releasing new music, and are considered the Princes of Kpop. In addition, they are extremely popular for their live performances and live vocals. Taemin was the first of the group to debut as a solo artist, and has become an icon in the industry. SM actually gave him the title of the "Ace of SM," which says a lot considering SM has some of the best artists in the industry. Taemin is also considered to be one of the BEST dancers across kpop and also by most professional dancers and choreographers. What sets him apart is his persona on stage, his dark and sensual style, and how he embraces both the "feminine" and "masculine" parts of him (androgyny) through his performances. He's an incredibly greedy artist as he strongly believes he needs to constantly improve and evolve, which makes him highly respected. To survive in the kpop industry, and in the music industry overall, you need to be extremely determined and committed to improving yourself. It might surprise you to learn that when he first joined SM, he was not recruited for his vocals at all, but for his dance skills. In fact, when he debuted with SHINee, he was given the least lines because SM believed he was tone deaf and could not sing. Aside from that, he was only 14, so he had not hit puberty yet. SM didn't invest in his vocals for several years. They didn't provide vocal lessons or training, even when Taemin had begged them for lessons. Taemin started improving and learning how to sing well because he sought it himself. He would seek lessons from his members, Onew and Jonghyun, who are considered to be some of the best vocalists in kpop. At their dorm, the three of them would often have rooftop sessions and that's exactly how Taemin began to improve. He practiced and practiced an unhealthy amount of hours, sometimes to the point where he would get nosebleeds. Eventually, SM noticed, and started giving him more lines and started listening to him after seeing him improve on his own. Fast forward to today, Taemin is an icon in the industry and sooooo many idols consider him to be their role model. They admire his tenacity, drive, passion, commitment to growth and his music, and also his humility.
People compare Taemin to Jimin. He should be the contrary. While I am an army, I do think that Taermin is at another level of artistry. So far superior. Also he started way before BTS so more experienced in all aspect. It is a shame that Taermin is less know abroad
Taemin is still with SHINee. They debuted in 2008. He started his solo music in 2014. I wouldn't say he is similar to Jimin, the are amazing dancers and good friends.
I like what suga said they have similar images both delicate looking but give powerful performances also they both tend to go down similar music path of Pop/RnB with Hiphop influences sprinkled in they also both use also of orchestral instrumentation
The thing is, they do have some similarities, especially with Taemin newer tracks. And Jimin has similar taste to Taemin and has obviously been influenced by Taemin too, although taemin has a way bigger discography that varies from track to track. So I think it's more of a yes they are similar but only his some of his newer stuff

I'm just saying that with his newer tracks people think as Taemin as just dark sexy genderless toned songs(after Move because before that he didnt embrace it as much, he even said it himself) which is what Jimin was doing for a bit. Taemin has almost 17 years of career behind him while being as old as Suga, because he debuted when he was 14. He has been role model for countless 3rd, 4th and 5th generation idols. Including Jimin, yes. They became very good friends along the years and respect each other so much. While they share lots of similarities, including their androgynous, genderless vibe, Taemin has a more sensual, darker aura.

Taemin is widely regarded as the King of Kpop, which is quite fitting since his biggest role model is Micheal Jackson. He is the inspiration for 95% of 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation idols. He is a member of the 5 member 2nd gen group, SHINee (known as the princes of Kpop), where he's the Main Dancer, Sub-Vocalist, and Maknae. He's actually very close friends with Jimin, and Jimin often says he's heavily inspired by Taemin, hence the similarities. Guilty is mainly about how he didn't get to experience childhood and had to grow up very quickly, since he debuted at 14, trained for 3 years beforehand, and has been HEAVILY sexualized since debut (yes means since he was 14). He first gained popularity due to his gender neutral appearance, which unfortunately began the sexualization of him, and he was constantly dressed in feminine clothing and styling, which he has stated sparked an identity crisis for him. Ever since 2017 though, he has embraced his gender neutral looks and style, and now dresses in both feminine and masculine clothing, mostly has female backup dancers, and makes his choreo as gender neutral as possible (Btw, gender neutral wasn't the actual term I was trying to say, but I can't think of the actual term so it was the closest I could think of) Edit: Also, the vibe of queerness is VERYY strong with Taemin and his music. Instead of "gender neutral" I think you mean androgynous.The themes within Taemin's MVs may touch on things such as samesex relationships and gender roles, etc., but that's only just one aspect and interpretation. What you see with Taemin's work is his way of embracing the under-represented and marginalized parts of society, which he feels connected with, it doesn't necessarily mean he is "obviously queer" as you put it. He could just as easily be an ally for the LGBTQ community, who chooses to support his LGBTQ fans by allowing them to feel seen and heard through his music. It's not our place to speculate on a person's sexuality. Just because the SHINee members support the LGBTQ+ community and embrace all aspects of society and advocate for inclusion, etc., that does not mean we can assume one way or the other about someone. Nothing about them is "obviously queer". (I've been a Shawol since their debut and I like to think I know all the SHINee members very well, but I choose not to speculate whether anyone is gay or straight because until they specifically come out and say one way or the other, it's not my place to label them.) That's only your opinion. Again you're using gender stereotypes to make assumptions about a person, but SHINee have been fighting against society's need to label them their whole career. You say you're not making assumptions, but that is precisely what you just did. People's need to label him is what Taemin has been struggling with and fighting against his whole life. The fact that people and the industry used to like to play up his famine features and make him dress as a girl as a joke all the time when he was younger really gave him a complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man. (Just listen to the lyrics of "Pretty Boy," which Jonghyun wrote specifically for Taemin to call out people who felt the need to label Taemin.) Taemin has specifically said he hates that people think he must be gay just because of the way he looks and moves or the conclusions they make about him, etc. And by assuming you know his and the other SHINee members sexuality, when none of them have ever come out and actually said anything, is not right either. @@Kaurigone No all the SHINee members are considered a main vocalist and main dancer these days. That's by the industry, not just a fan's opinion. And if anything, Taemin is a lead vocalist. As I said, no one was ever a sub-vocalist in SHINee. And Taemin is most definitely now a MAIN vocalist of SHINee because he literally takes over the majority of Jonghyun's lines in SHINee songs and can hold his own. When it comes to line distribution the SHINee members are pretty much evenly represented in their songs. It's also common knowledge within the industry that SHINee no longer has any fixed roles in their group, which means that there are no divisions between main and lead and sub. They all have "main" in their title.
It's so interesting to read some comments based on the fantasy of some fans... As for the song, Taemin has spoken in numerous interviews about what inspired him, and that it is a song about toxic relationships. He also mentioned that he has never been in such a relationship himself.But he is interested in human psychology and the influence of one person on another. For some reason, when we watch a film, we don’t say later that the actor showed a piece of his life, but as soon as we start talking about a singer, we immediately try to put a concept on the singer as a person. We must not forget that singers are also artists and they tell different stories and not all of them necessarily have to be based on their personal experiences.

Taemin has been in the industry for more than 16 years as part of the legendary 5-member Kpop group SHINee (under SM Entertainment) and he has been a solo artist since 2014. (This year is Taemin's 10th anniversary as a solo artist.) "Guilty" is Taemin's title track on his 4th mini Korean solo album, which was released in 2023, and I think the story in the MV is a continuation of the themes surrounding his previous releases. Particularly connected to his Never Gonna Dance Again trilogy of albums -- "2 Kids", "Criminal" and "Idea" -- and Advice album themes. As Taemin has explained, "Guilty" is about a lover who DOESN'T feel guilty about all the bad things they have done in the relationship and they feel no shame or remorse for the pain and suffering they may have caused the other person. Which, if you connect it to the messages from his previous MVs, this easily could be interpreted as a metaphor for everything Taemin has gone through in his career and life. As an idol, he has been manipulated and controlled his whole life. Debuting at 14 years old, Taemin has lived his entire life in the public eye under a microscope, he is expected to be flawless and perfect, and people are constantly telling him what to do and how he should act, etc. However, now that he has turned 30, I think he is embracing a new chapter in his life where he is saying he is no longer going to allow people to manipulate him and he is officially taking back control. In other words, he's not going to feel guilty any more for being himself and doing what makes him happy. The story in the MV also makes more sense if you pair it with the teaser videos that were released a few days before the MV dropped. In the teasers you will see Taemin being manipulated even more by outside forces and people who literally at one point hand him a gun and force him to shoot something or someone, which is all part of the metaphor that has to do with taking control of his life, etc. If you delve in deep you will see that "Guilty" could be interpreted as his relationship with fame and the different sides of who he is as a person and artist. Everything you see and hear can be thought of as a metaphor for life told using biblical references as an underlying theme showcasing Taemin's Catholic faith.The majority of Taemin's songs and MVs touch on concepts, stories and themes from the Bible, as a metaphor to explain what he has gone through growing up as an idol and the journey he has taken in order to find confidence in and acceptance with who he is as a person and an artist. However, if he was really tone deaf, he never would have become an SM Idol trainee -- SM would have put him on the dance track and probably steered him toward becoming a backup dancer -- and he definitely would have never become the amazing singer that he is today. As you probably know, someone who is truly tone deaf is physically unable to hear the difference in the notes and is unable to carry a tune. Taemin is considered one of the greatest dancers of all time. He has literally been voted one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop by his peers and industry experts. (Kai from EXO -- who happens to be Taemin's best friend since trainee days, and a fellow member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) That is why he has been nicknamed the Korean Michael Jackson. Literally everyone in the Kpop industry looks up to Taemin and idolizes him. But Taemin really wanted to prove to everyone that he wasn't just a dancer, so he spent a lot of extra time concentrating on vocal lessons and the other SHINee members -- especially Onew and Jonghyun (two of the best vocalists in the industry) -- spent some serious time coaching and mentoring him until he learned what it took to match their vocal range and to use his voice. When you watch a live performance, you may be shocked because Taemin and SHINee sound so perfect live even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are so highly respected by everyone. Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed the SHINee members performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful. In Taemin's live performance you will discover that he sounds even better than in the recorded version, all while dancing full out. What makes SHINee so great is that even if they are singing acapella while performing this high energy choreography, they sound just as amazing. That's why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive. When SHINee debuted, they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing complex choreography and still maintain stable vocals. you should know that all the male soloists have taemin's imprint on their foreheads and jimin in particular said in suga's (yoongi) show that taemin is his role model and he proves it even though he cannot replicate the artistic and stage perfection, which is well known to all the idols by now of taemin...he tries
Taemin is his role model but Jimin does not follow behind him in terms of replicating him or trying to have a similar stage that he has. They may have similarities but they have different vocal tones and genre of songs. So, whenever Jimin makes a song or does a stage, I’m sure he’s not thinking about how another idol does it.

Guilty is hauntingly beautiful. Taemin has heavy fallen angel motifs throughout a lot of his MVs, and Guilty specifically references Demian by Hermann Hesse which explains the headdress. Honestly the dark more gender neutral sensuality Taemin embodies was definitely pioneered in the kpop industry by him. And has allowed other male idols to take influence and follow in his footsteps, Jimin included. Taemin's dancing is so fluid and delicate, but also powerful- considering that his foundation is actually in hiphop, specifically popping. Also fun fact, SM used a real orchestra for the strings in the instrumental.

He and Jimin are very close friends, even though they debuted 5ish years apart, and their dancing vibes and artistic flair are very similar while also being totally unique. Taemin is the baby of 2nd generation legends, SHINee, and he is still with them, even though he also has a wildly successful solo career and is an incredible icon in his own right. Just to clarify, Taemin is still an SM artist. He has only chosen to move his solo career to Big Planet Made, but SHINee are still under SM. Taemin would be the first to tell you that SHINee is very important to him, and because of that he still considers himself a part of SM.

SHINEe had a rough few years. one of their members took his own life, then not long after that the members ended up starting their military service; when they were all out of the military, their leader ended up going on hiatus for close to a year and missed all the promotions for their comeback. Taemin and the two other members who were active for that time period were put through having to re learn choreos from their older music for 5 people, adjusting the choreo for just 4 people, then having to relearn it all over again for just 3 of them. i can't imagine the mental and emotional toll that must have taken. Thank you so much for your comment, I totally agree with everything you said. I really hate that just because some people see "gay" themes within Taemin's work that they assume he must be gay, when really he could just as easily be an ally that chooses to highlight the under-represented and marginalized parts of society as a way to allow everyone to be seen, heard and represented within his music. Society's need to label him is what he has been struggling with and fighting against his whole life. He has specifically said that he hates how people make assumptions and conclusions about him just because they think he fits a specific stereotype. Which is why he has been trying to break out of the "Kpop mold" his whole career. I mean, I'm not saying he is or isn't, I just think we need to not be so quick to jump to conclusions about someone. Lee Taemin is really everything. I can't believe you started with this song because wow! He's the maknae of ShinEE, btw. A second gen group who are still very active and relevant. Taemin debuted at 14 so even though he is young he has had a very long career. He was Kpop's baby for a long time (especially as it was even more rare to debut so young back then) so in his solo work he wanted to veer away from that image and do more adult themes and he has stayed more experimental. Which may have helped push him into becoming basically the most popular solo artist in Kpop. Taemin's work is very conceptual, and to grasp the message behind it, just watching the MV isn't sufficient. To understand where the idea and concept come from, it's a good to read two recommended books: Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Bataille and Demian by Hermann Hesse. The MV teasers also add to the storyline. Have fun exploring SHINee's and Taemin's work; they're really worth getting to know.

FIRST TIME? WHAT!!! Yall are in for a journey and I'm sooooo excited for it!!!!!!! Taemin is part of SHINee, a highly-respected experimental and contemporary group from 2nd gen kpop. They have been relevant ever since, always releasing new music, and are considered the Princes of Kpop. In addition, they are extremely popular for their live performances and live vocals. Taemin was the first of the group to debut as a solo artist, and has become an icon in the industry. SM actually gave him the title of the "Ace of SM," which says a lot considering SM has some of the best artists in the industry. Taemin is also considered to be one of the BEST dancers across kpop and also by most professional dancers and choreographers.
What sets him apart is his persona on stage, his dark and sensual style, and how he embraces both the "feminine" and "masculine" parts of him (androgyny) through his performances. He's an incredibly greedy artist as he strongly believes he needs to constantly improve and evolve, which makes him highly respected. To survive in the kpop industry, and in the music industry overall, you need to be extremely determined and committed to improving yourself. It might surprise you to learn that when he first joined SM, he was not recruited for his vocals at all, but for his dance skills. In fact, when he debuted with SHINee, he was given the least lines because SM believed he was tone deaf and could not sing. Aside from that, he was only 14, so he had not hit puberty yet. SM didn't invest in his vocals for several years. They didn't provide vocal lessons or training, even when Taemin had begged them for lessons. Taemin started improving and learning how to sing well because he sought it himself. He would seek lessons from his members, Onew and Jonghyun, who are considered to be some of the best vocalists in kpop. At their dorm, the three of them would often have rooftop sessions and that's exactly how Taemin began to improve. He practiced and practiced an unhealthy amount of hours, sometimes to the point where he would get nosebleeds. Eventually, SM noticed, and started giving him more lines and started listening to him after seeing him improve on his own. Fast forward to today, Taemin is an icon in the industry and sooooo many idols consider him to be their role model. They admire his tenacity, drive, passion, commitment to growth and his music, and also his humility.

I like what suga said they have similar images both delicate looking but give powerful performances also they both tend to go down similar music path of Pop/RnB with Hiphop influences sprinkled in they also both use also of orchestral instrumentation

And Jimin has similar taste to Taemin and has obviously been influenced by Taemin too, although taemin has a way bigger discography that varies from track to track. Instead of "gender neutral" I think you mean androgynous.The themes within Taemin's MVs may touch on things such as samesex relationships and gender roles, etc., but that's only just one aspect and interpretation. What you see with Taemin's work is his way of embracing the under-represented and marginalized parts of society, which he feels connected with, it doesn't necessarily mean he is "obviously queer" as you put it. The fact that people and the industry used to like to play up his famine features and make him dress as a girl as a joke all the time when he was younger really gave him a complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man. (Just listen to the lyrics of "Pretty Boy," which Jonghyun wrote specifically for Taemin to call out people who felt the need to label Taemin.) Taemin has specifically said he hates that people think he must be gay just because of the way he looks and moves or the conclusions they make about him, etc. And by assuming you know his and the other SHINee members sexuality, when none of them have ever come out and actually said anything, is not right either. It's best to not make those type of comments, as you have no idea the impact your words may have on someone's life.

@@Kaurigone No all the SHINee members are considered a main vocalist and main dancer these days. That's by the industry, not just a fan's opinion. And if anything, Taemin is a lead vocalist. As I said, no one was ever a sub-vocalist in SHINee. And Taemin is most definitely now a MAIN vocalist of SHINee because he literally takes over the majority of Jonghyun's lines in SHINee songs and can hold his own. When it comes to line distribution the SHINee members are pretty much evenly represented in their songs. It's also common knowledge within the industry that SHINee no longer has any fixed roles in their group, which means that there are no divisions between main and lead and sub. They all have "main" in their title.

As for the song, Taemin has spoken in numerous interviews about what inspired him, and that it is a song about toxic relationships. He also mentioned that he has never been in such a relationship himself.But he is interested in human psychology and the influence of one person on another. For some reason, when we watch a film, we don’t say later that the actor showed a piece of his life, but as soon as we start talking about a singer, we immediately try to put a concept on the singer as a person. We must not forget that singers are also artists and they tell different stories and not all of them necessarily have to be based on their personal experiences.

Taemin killing voice
Taemin has been in the industry for more than 16 years as part of the legendary 5-member Kpop group SHINee (under SM Entertainment) and he has been a solo artist since 2014. (This year is Taemin's 10th anniversary as a solo artist.) "Guilty" is Taemin's title track on his 4th mini Korean solo album, which was released in 2023, and I think the story in the MV is a continuation of the themes surrounding his previous releases. Particularly connected to his Never Gonna Dance Again trilogy of albums -- "2 Kids", "Criminal" and "Idea" -- and Advice album themes.
As Taemin has explained, "Guilty" is about a lover who DOESN'T feel guilty about all the bad things they have done in the relationship and they feel no shame or remorse for the pain and suffering they may have caused the other person. Which, if you connect it to the messages from his previous MVs, this easily could be interpreted as a metaphor for everything Taemin has gone through in his career and life. As an idol, he has been manipulated and controlled his whole life. Debuting at 14 years old, Taemin has lived his entire life in the public eye under a microscope, he is expected to be flawless and perfect, and people are constantly telling him what to do and how he should act, etc. However, now that he has turned 30, I think he is embracing a new chapter in his life where he is saying he is no longer going to allow people to manipulate him and he is officially taking back control. In other words, he's not going to feel guilty any more for being himself and doing what makes him happy.
The story in the MV also makes more sense if you pair it with the teaser videos that were released a few days before the MV dropped. In the teasers you will see Taemin being manipulated even more by outside forces and people who literally at one point hand him a gun and force him to shoot something or someone, which is all part of the metaphor that has to do with taking control of his life, etc.
If you delve in deep you will see that "Guilty" could be interpreted as his relationship with fame and the different sides of who he is as a person and artist. Everything you see and hear can be thought of as a metaphor for life told using biblical references as an underlying theme showcasing Taemin's Catholic faith.The majority of Taemin's songs and MVs touch on concepts, stories and themes from the Bible, as a metaphor to explain what he has gone through growing up as an idol and the journey he has taken in order to find confidence in and acceptance with who he is as a person and an artist.
With Taemin -- and all the members of SHINee -- you will never get the same thing twice. Everything he releases will be a new style and sound and, yet, it will still be very "Taemin". You may find this hard to believe, but when Taemin debuted as a member of SHINee way back in 2008, he didn't have a whole lot of lines in their songs. People even used to make fun of Taemin's singing and they would say that he was tone deaf and couldn't sing. However, it's sort of a misconception that Taemin "couldn't sing." it wasn't that he couldn't sing, it was just that he debuted when he was so young -- he was only 14 years old -- that his voice hadn't really developed yet and he didn't really have a good grasp of how to use his voice and produce the sounds he wanted with it. So, in the beginning, when he sang, he was often flat or his voice cracked or he was off key or out of tune, etc.
And because he was being compared to the other members of SHINee who are all 2 to 4 years older than him, and the other members had such phenomenal voices to start out with, it really made Taemin sound like he was lacking. (SHINee are considered THE premier vocal group that everyone dreams of being as good as.) That's why in SHINee's first few songs Taemin only has a few lines, and most of the time he was just given big solo dance breaks to fill the stage at his parts in the song.
However, if he was really tone deaf, he never would have become an SM Idol trainee -- SM would have put him on the dance track and probably steered him toward becoming a backup dancer -- and he definitely would have never become the amazing singer that he is today. As you probably know, someone who is truly tone deaf is physically unable to hear the difference in the notes and is unable to carry a tune.
Taemin is considered one of the greatest dancers of all time. He has literally been voted one of the top two BEST dancers in all of Kpop by his peers and industry experts. (Kai from EXO -- who happens to be Taemin's best friend since trainee days, and a fellow member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) That is why he has been nicknamed the Korean Michael Jackson. Literally everyone in the Kpop industry looks up to Taemin and idolizes him.
But Taemin really wanted to prove to everyone that he wasn't just a dancer, so he spent a lot of extra time concentrating on vocal lessons and the other SHINee members -- especially Onew and Jonghyun (two of the best vocalists in the industry) -- spent some serious time coaching and mentoring him until he learned what it took to match their vocal range and to use his voice. (For the first year or more after SHINee's debut Taemin spent hours in vocal lessons and he would push himself every day until his nose would bleed because he was so tired and worn out, etc. He practically lived in the training rooms at SM.)
The ONLY thing the members of SHINee are not good at is lip syncing, so Taemin, and all the members of SHINee, have specifically trained since their debut, to build stamina and endurance, in order to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight in concert, all while performing these intense choreographies and still sound flawless. When you watch a live performance, you may be shocked because Taemin and SHINee sound so perfect live even though they are dancing so intensely, but that is why they are so highly respected by everyone. Therefore, when you hear SHINee sing, 95% of the time it will be live.
Other Idols and audio sound technicians, etc. who have witnessed the SHINee members performing live are always blown away, because in the parts of the song where most singers would take a break and rely on the backing track vocals to cover their voices so they can catch their breath and recover, this is where the SHINee members actually ramp it up and become their most powerful.
In Taemin's live performance you will discover that he sounds even better than in the recorded version, all while dancing full out. What makes SHINee so great is that even if they are singing acapella while performing this high energy choreography, they sound just as amazing. That's why, even as rookies, senior artists would stop what they were doing to watch SHINee's rehearsals on music programs because SHINee's vocal talent is that impressive.
When SHINee debuted, they were the first group to demonstrate how it was possible to sing live while performing complex choreography and still maintain stable vocals. (Which is even more impressive because they were one of the youngest groups to debut at the time.) Before SHINee, the thought within the industry was that it wasn't possible to sing live and also perform high intensity choreography at the same time. Back then, most groups would either sing live and have simple choreography, or they would have crazy cool choreography, but lip sync to their recorded vocals. SHINee completely changed the Kpop industry and upped the standard of what it meant to be an idol singer.
Taemin -- and SHINee -- live is unmatched. It's literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard that all other groups strive to reach, and SHINee are the vocalists that all other artists try to emulate.
Taemin has released at least one song or album -- most of the time way more than just one -- as part of SHINee, as a member of a project group, as a solo artist or as a member of SuperM every year since SHINee's debut. (Except 2022 because he was on hiatus while he carried out his public service duties as part of his military requirements.) Therefore, including his full-length albums, mini albums, and singles, etc., as well as his Japanese albums, Taemin has more than a dozen solo albums. Not to mention the 2 albums he has as a member of SuperM. And on top of all that, SHINee currently has 14 full-length Korean and Japanese albums, just as many repackaged albums, numerous mini albums, etc. Plus, he has held many solo concert tours -- he is currently on his first solo world tour (all his solo concerts before this were Japanese and Asian tours) -- as well as a world tour as a member of SuperM, and SHINee has held more than 100 concerts within 6 world tours so far. I have a feeling when you watch his Killing Voice you will find that hearing him sing "Guilty," as well as his other songs, live that you will be even more impressed. you should know that all the male soloists have taemin's imprint on their foreheads and jimin in particular said in suga's (yoongi) show that taemin is his role model and he proves it even though he cannot replicate the artistic and stage perfection, which is well known to all the idols by now of taemin...he tries
Taemin is his role model but Jimin does not follow behind him in terms of replicating him or trying to have a similar stage that he has. They may have similarities but they have different vocal tones and genre of songs. So, whenever Jimin makes a song or does a stage, I’m sure he’s not thinking about how another idol does it.

Guilty is hauntingly beautiful. Taemin has heavy fallen angel motifs throughout a lot of his MVs, and Guilty specifically references Demian by Hermann Hesse which explains the headdress. Honestly the dark more gender neutral sensuality Taemin embodies was definitely pioneered in the kpop industry by him. And has allowed other male idols to take influence and follow in his footsteps, Jimin included. Taemin's dancing is so fluid and delicate, but also powerful- considering that his foundation is actually in hiphop, specifically popping. Also fun fact, SM used a real orchestra for the strings in the instrumental.
Taemin is the idols' idol. So many idols have started their career paths because they were inspired by Taemin. He and Jimin are very close friends, even though they debuted 5ish years apart, and their dancing vibes and artistic flair are very similar while also being totally unique. Taemin is the baby of 2nd generation legends, SHINee, and he is still with them, even though he also has a wildly successful solo career and is an incredible icon in his own right. His entire discography is fire. He also has a Kiling Voice y'all might enjoy. :).

i want to clarify because of how dangerous it is to be gay in many Asian countries - Taemin has never come out, nor should he have to. i think this entire concept/comeback is proof he's been through enough without adding being outed (*if* he IS gay) to the long list of wrongs he has suffered. he's always been gay positive/supportive so if anything, he is an ally. anyone telling you he has come out or he is gay is lying and selfishly putting their own desires ahead of his wellbeing.
now that we've got that out of the way....Taemin is SHINEe's maknae!!! he debuted with the group at 15 years old - this song is him processing the sexualization and abuse he has endured at the hands of the industry over the last 16 years. the hands yanking him around, the isolation, shadows, fire, are all intentional; he's shaming the people who used him saying they should be guilty, instead of him. but somehow, he's the one that ends up feeling guilty while they appear to be unphased. at some point in his long career, anything he has liked or loved has been used against him. he's also speaking about feeling guilty for surviving when his friend/a group member did not. there are a lot of layers to unpack here.
SHINEe had a rough few years. one of their members took his own life, then not long after that the members ended up starting their military service; when they were all out of the military, their leader ended up going on hiatus for close to a year and missed all the promotions for their comeback. Taemin and the two other members who were active for that time period were put through having to re learn choreos from their older music for 5 people, adjusting the choreo for just 4 people, then having to relearn it all over again for just 3 of them. i can't imagine the mental and emotional toll that must have taken.
Taemin was the last to go to the military/the last to come back and he was completely different at first. it was quite a while before we saw him smile again. i think stepping away from the public eye for his military service allowed him to finally start coming to terms with everything that has happened to him.
he has said he strives for an androgynous style with his clothing. when he performs, he frequently is accompanied by a group of female dancers dancers and he insists on dressing the exact same. if they're in skirts, he usually is too. if they're in tank tops, so is he.

I really hate that just because some people see "gay" themes within Taemin's work that they assume he must be gay, when really he could just as easily be an ally that chooses to highlight the under-represented and marginalized parts of society as a way to allow everyone to be seen, heard and represented within his music. Society's need to label him is what he has been struggling with and fighting against his whole life. He has specifically said that he hates how people make assumptions and conclusions about him just because they think he fits a specific stereotype. Which is why he has been trying to break out of the "Kpop mold" his whole career. I mean, I'm not saying he is or isn't, I just think we need to not be so quick to jump to conclusions about someone. He's the maknae of ShinEE, btw. A second gen group who are still very active and relevant. Taemin debuted at 14 so even though he is young he has had a very long career. He was Kpop's baby for a long time (especially as it was even more rare to debut so young back then) so in his solo work he wanted to veer away from that image and do more adult themes and he has stayed more experimental. Which may have helped push him into becoming basically the most popular solo artist in Kpop.
To me ShinEE are always outstanding and like I said are still super successful, but it's crazy to hear how big Taemin has gotten if people now know of Taemin's name before ShinEE

That's why he left SM, they did not defend him in front of Hybe. How can Taemin be like Jimin when Jimin has been solo for literally 1-2 years and Taemin himself literally inspired the industry, there are over 200 idols who are fans of Taemin and consider him a role model. So these statements of yours are damn annoying and angry. Study the history of k-pop. Taemin is a legend and an idol of idols, the king of the harvest and he is the one to follow and there is no one like Taemin, there are only copies. The original is Taemin. Hybe publishes instructions in weekly lists on how to destroy Taemin, what to blame him for and by hacking and deleting his UA-cam channel. But Taemin has been where he is for 17 years and has no plans to leave. Taemin's tone and voice are inimitable and he has no equal. King of K-pop ☝🏼👑

Not trying to change your attitude. I totally understand why you would be upset or irked by this, I used to be like that, too 😂. But we have to realize that they just don't know Taemin, which is surprising since Jimin is friends with him and talks about him. Although he did this way before Jimin, they only know Jimin, and he has similar taste to taemin and obviously has been influenced by Taemin, so them connecting them was inevitable, I do think their are better ways to do it/say it tho, especially if you know the seniority
Think of it this way,,Taemin/SHINee are second generation kpop. BTS is third generation. So this young man/ group inspired alot of newer artists. He suffered from depression 😭 Jonghyun even gave signs in his songs that he was not coping, but no one saw it 💔 Let me out, elevator, lonely.. these are some of his songs that show what he felt and how he felt. His most popular song is the end of a day. This song is so beautiful and comforting. 🥺 I also recommend listening to the song please don't go. This song is sung by Jonghyun from Onew (Onew is also a member of SHINee) beautiful song and beautiful voices 🥺. When Jonghyun committed suicide, his band members wrote the song Our page. I always cry when I listen to it 😭 And that music video... A few months after that terrible tragedy, SHINee organized a concert where they sang a song they recorded when Jonghyun was still alive and sang it for the first time. The sight of 5 microphones broke my heart, and when I heard Jonghyun's voice played from the tape recorder, I burst into tears. 😭🥺 This performance is the saddest performance in Kpop. I can't watch it. I'm sure that if you watch it, you'll be in tears

Taemin's work is very conceptual, and to grasp the message behind it, just watching the MV isn't sufficient. To understand where the idea and concept come from, it's a good to read two recommended books:
Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Bataille and Demian by Hermann Hesse. The MV teasers also add to the storyline. Have fun exploring SHINee's and Taemin's work; they're really worth getting to know.

I love Taemin and Jimin, but one thing these comments not about to do is play with JIMIN! Not only did Jimin say he was inspired by Taemin but Taemin also said he took a lot from Jimin, which is how they get along so well. And for the people saying they aren’t similar, they are. They’re similar when it comes to having genderfluid which is how they are able to produce great music. Overall, they are both great artists with great vocal tone and dance skills, there’s no need to compare two gems.
