Love the content man! Good to see other dredge players pushing forward and you’re kind of a big deal in the community 😊 You will continue to be criminally underrated given our niche but it will always be appreciated!
I started playing Magic 9 years ago onnDredge and have loves the deck always. Watching this makes me VERY excited to pick the dexk up again. Finally bwing able to win on the same tuen is huge! Great work on the deck!
one of my favorite quirks of legacy combo decks are the blast from the past sideboard cards you see because you need some incredibly narrow answer to one thing that just ruins you (for example a 1 mana answer to leyline of the void in grixis colors
Haven't played dredge since the days of quadlaser and this really makes me want to sleeve it up again! Surprised to see no Breakthrough, but Otherworldly Gaze seems to have a lot going for it. Looking forward to future content!
hahah setting my patreon name to "eeeeeeh" was worth it :D Anyway in Round4 you talked about bombardiers throwing leyline in your face, they can only throw creatures and artifacts.
Hey sir! Thank you so much for this content! You are the reason I bought LED dredge in paper! I have not watched the league yet; I don’t know that I want the deck to be good bc it means I need 2 more volcs hahaha ;-P I’m very excluded. Greetings and keep up the fantastic content
At 41:34 I think it's better to flashback the Gaze on your turn. If your opponent Dazes for free, it doesn't matter whether you do it main phase or upkeep. But waiting until upkeep gives the opponent the option to hardcast Daze if they'd rather keep their land (which is what happened). Waiting is better if opponent has 2 mana open.
Holding off until your opponent's upkeep also plays around Force of Negation. If they choose to hardcast Daze, it's a win for us in that game scenario (no Murktides/Ramsons/Bowmasters, etc., guaranteed).
Heyo ! I am a dredge player in legacy (manaless) and modern in paper. I have manaless legacy in mtgo cause cheap. It's been some time since I wanted a nice dredge deck on MTGO. I did buy DADDY's list to try it and was convinced although it's very different than what i'm used to :D. But then I tried your list. Poxwalker is absolutely bonkers. Even in manaless I could slot it. Such a crazy card. I've been doing some leagues now and the deck does stand up on its legs when all goes fine, flashbacks to old vintage dredge decks with haste, very nice ! I wanted a bit more insight on the manabase if you can help ? Cephalids has been great but anytime I find myself in a more grindy matchup I cannot fathom how to deal with it and it often saddens me that I could not "hard" cast a Hogaak, an Ox, a Gaze, or even more relevant a Dread Return with colors if game goes long. That cost me a lot of games. I already tried mull more aggressive and all I got was 4 cards average hands. I know I'm not a very good player, but is there a way to make the mana less painful, or, more "noob-friendly", why the fetches, for wasteland mostly ?
Fetches do help against Wasteland (either preventing them from being used or fetching basics), but they're also just good in general. They thin your deck, they act as extra copies of your on-color dual lands (you can only play four Volcanic Islands, but if you run four Scalding Tarns you have eight chances to get one), and shuffling your deck can be important sometimes.
Repetition with the deck is key. Although I call it 'Turbo Dredge,' you don't need to combo on turn 1, not even on turn 2. In this sense, the deck resembles Doomsday decks - sometimes you have a perfect hand to combo quickly, but most of the time you'll work to get there within one or two turns. Tip: if you know the opponent doesn't play Wasteland, prioritize having up to 2 Volcanic Islands. Underground Sea is in the deck to help in extreme cases, like when you have a great 5-card hand including Cabal Therapy, or when you really need to cast an extra creature from your hand.
@@MahfuzVanGogh Thanks for taking the time to answer ! I also saw your comment on ThrabenU and watched your new video. I'm starting to understand the deck more and more, but it definitely isn't easy to pilot, comparison to Doomsday feels relevant here :). I absolutely love the deck, awesome brewing prowess !
Very nice video and deck. In the last game of round 4 there was a maybe a line when you don’t play the mountain but instead cast the faithless looting for the red mana from the Usea. Then play island and dismissal and try to spike something with the ox. Feel free to correct me if I missed the point where it wouldn’t work.
Absolutely right. The deck had the answer, but I was ready to throw in the towel - usually, I would be more patient. I'm still new to this (recording, thinking, talking, and playing all at once), but I'll improve. Never surrender when playing Dredge if you sided in the answer.
My reaction before and after the first match was "Oh legacy, dredge. I've never seen this before, must be like a teir two combo... wtf was that turn one win Jesus christ this deck got legs"
Bought my playset of LEDs yesterday and so hyped to play it next week when they come in! Was wondering if adding 1 off Shenanigans in the sideboard would help with dealing with artifacts like grafdigger's cage since we are playing red now unlike blue dredge version where we got no good artifact removals apart from chain of vapor/echoing truth.
You're absolutely right, and that choice does heavily depend on the meta. I began testing Turbo Dredge last week with 1 Shenanigans in the sideboard, but it never proved useful and I just moved on. If your local meta is packed with Delver/Show and Tell decks running Cage, then it's definitely worth considering!
It's all about the metagame. Right now on MTGO, Urza's Saga decks are more prevalent than decks that can drop a turn 1 Cage. We could split there (2x Chain, 2x Stern, 1 Kiora's) if you think it's necessary.
Definitely, yes! I'm not a manaless specialist, but I've seen players trying Poxwalkers there with great success. Maybe the best manaless build with Poxwalkers is out there, waiting to be found.
I'm a dredge lover from Italy! What do you think about brand new screeching scorchbeast from fallout? Worth It? Btw this list is pretty more solid and faster than using ichorids
I tested Breakthrough before recording this league, and while the card is very powerful, it was causing me to lose games frequently. Gaze may seem slow, but it's actually one of the cards that ties the whole deck together, turning average starting hands into great ones, helping you turn the game around after an Endurance, forcing Control opponents' hands, and bringing Poxwalkers back into the game.
In such a low mana deck that needs to go super fast surveil lands being tapped is probably way too slow for a deck trying to win within the first 2 or 3 turns ideally.
I think that 1x surveil land is okay in the Blue list that Mahfuz crafted, since that list is more controlling. However, this list doesn't want to go slow.
@@MahfuzVanGogh I'll deff start testing this type too. (Always been a belcher and dredge main) The basic mountain is big for not getting wastelanded off haste, anger needs the mountain in play But the underground seems bad, it's in the way of anger and ox and you at most get to fetch once. Pretty much only good for hardcasting therapy I'm also gonna try to get street wraith in there for extra turbo, also it saves dredgers from surgical
I was shocked, too! I started testing a 2-2 split, but Gaze wins here. It is just so consistent to find everything we need while triggering Poxwalkers.

hear me out WOTC should unban Bazaar in legacy
And unrestrict GGT from Vintage
-> faithless looting in deck
-> brain happy
Using the basic mountain instead of Underground sea to cast faithless looting cost you an out at the end of round 4, you would have actually had outs

It is usually best against Saga decks, but now the meta has changed a bit, and I also have 2 Chain of Vapor in the sb.
what are your thoughts on adding breakthrough to a deck like that ?

The deck is super cool by the way! Loved how you saw a turn 1 kill in game 1!
Hi! Yes, it is. Check out my other video here on the channel, featuring a Budget Turbo Dredge build without LED and Dual Lands!
Would you consider a fetchable surveil land? Or is all in? As well you happy to not have any answer to artifact hate?
In such a low mana deck that needs to go super fast surveil lands being tapped is probably way too slow for a deck trying to win within the first 2 or 3 turns ideally.
I think that 1x surveil land is okay in the Blue list that Mahfuz crafted, since that list is more controlling. However, this list doesn't want to go slow.
Surveil lands are probably too slow even for Blue Dredge, but more testing is needed to be sure.
Should we be on the full four poxwalkers ?
Or are we too starved for slots to do that ?
Perhaps 4 Poxwalkers are a stretch, probably too many, but I'm already testing lists with 3.
