What happens with your remote ports and or data ports are already used by tuners and or already tied to a PC for rig control like HRD and or win4yaesu ?
Has anyone done a video with equipment hook up from the cables to the config of software. Not found that yet to know if there are any bugs in connecting some radios
This would be excellent for me, because I work shift and could use it on night shift and make some cool contacts in the early hours of the morning ! Or, if I want to work the radio from the sitting room instead of being up in the attic shack haha, this is great ! Should be able to use a normal bluetooth headset then and VOX ?
Cool product. I use RemoteRig, and the RigPi looks to be a good solution for remote radio operation. Another excellent use for the Raspberry Pi. 73 Hayden VK7HH
In the W5KUB stream, they mentioned a software only version for Pi owners who don't need the audio board or the keyer board. Which I believe 7300 users do not need. Any news on that version?
If you have a Raspberry Pi you can simply buy the MicroSD card from MFJ for $40 and have a RigPi. The card is listed in their new catalog, but not yet shipping since MFJ is clearing the massive back orders for this new product.
@@w6hn Got it. Interesting that they mention backlog as making SD cards is far easier. Besides, give me the image and I can make my own card. Most people who have PIs are already doing this for raspian, etc.
@@kd4kzz YES and it has been for at least 10 year's...go onto Kiwi sdr and have a go at remote controlling some of the Many Rigs Connected..It's not just for SDR Control.
Just use an old Computer or a Raspberry pie Running any Remote Software like Kiwi SDR, or use Android Apps that have been about for ages to Remote Control your Rigs from anywhere in the world.
Looks like an outstanding product especially since I am an Apple 🍎 fan & User!! More manufacturers need to start making Apps and software to interface with iPhones and tablets as well as Apple computers!! Thanks Eric..... enjoy the show 73’s K4BBC
@w6hn: Hilarious. What's the message at 5:25: 'It's an account based system, You can have your three radios all connected at once ' - Well, to one RigPI (THAT was the real question) or the freaking internet? This device only has one audio interface - how would you plug in three radios? The mentioning of 'accounts' is noting but misleading - I'm quite sure, you can plug in different radios alternatively and run them in their specific config - but using them simultaneously on one RifPi device via remote? C'mon, we're not that stupid.. :)
You can have as many radios connected simultaneously and controlled from separate browsers as the Raspberry Pi resources will allow. I’ve tested 4 simultaneous connections all under control remotely. To go from one radio to another, just change to the appropriate browser. Even my iPad can open two indepent browsers in a split screen, so I can have two radios shown at the same time. RigPi audio uses the onboard Mumble server so no external VoIP server is required. Each Mumble client on RigPi connects to one radio. You can find the instructions for setting up multiple clients on one device using Google. The remote end is more difficult, I haven’t looked for a way to have multiple clients open at that end on a phone, for example. It may take more than one computer/tablet/phone to do that. RigPi supports an unlimited number of accounts, each of which has their own username, password and access level settung (you may not want a guest to have access to settings, for example).
Call it what it is - A $300 VFO knob! All other radio control is via user programable on/off buttons. Then consider the lousy audio. RigPi is a glitter designed webpage that glues together several FREE open source software. Setup is an exercise in frustration. There is nothing easy about it as advertised and the result will be a disappointment. Get a raspberry Pi, setup Flrig, Fldigi, and AnyDesk and save $300.
I'm sure the price will come down eventually. Too expensive now. If the Micro SD image was made available, it would run on any Raspberry Pi with a UART interface. Since the software is running on Linux, the creator should release the whole suite under the GPL. Let people who have no clue about Linux and RasPi pay the big bucks for one of these...
You can buy a MicroSD card with the RigPi image for $40 from MFJ, not shipping yet, but soon. The RigPi Station Server IS open source and will be on Github once the dust settles.
Cat control worked great but no way was audio ever going to be satisfactory with the hardware interface and using Mumble for audio transport. The message board was going nuts with others having same issues. I called MFJ on phone for help but they never returned call. Any message board help was the same things I had already tried. One of the beta testers contacted me privately by email and admitted this thing was not ready to be released.
What does a Rigpi do? Not much. You can change the VFO. That is the ONLY thing that is variable. All other controls are either on or off. I like to control my radio not just turn functions on and off.
as a new ham in the uk, been in the hobby about 6 months, i am really enjoying your videos very informative. cheers 73's
Go Howard! Myself as a user of the best logging software available bar-none, CommCAT, Howards creation, RigPi has to be a great product.
Super cool technology! Eric, if I see you at the show, I would like to get a quick picture with you!
Great stuff, you can use from your cabin on a cruise ship. I got to have this.
Yessss Finally. Thats wat i wanted years ago........Thanxxx foor letting us know !!
Just heard of this unit. How much are they?
oh god! there goes my work productivity!!!
But..... The Elephant in the room.... It’s MFJ

Does it work with any Fusion HTs?
Wow. May be giving some of the big name SDRs a run for thier money! Wish I was there to check this out.
nice video Erick. see you tomorrorrow 73 and good price, keep one for me.
Been using team viewer for years with smartphone, only trouble is lag with cell phone systems for TX

Great, but can it rotate a beam?
Yes, indeed! RigPi uses Hamlib for radios and rotors. RigPi computes the correct bearing to a remote station, so you just click “start.”
@@w6hn Thanks!
You can remote flush your toilet also by connecting the gpio pins - works great!

How is this different from the KiwiSDR unit?

This looks amazing! Hope it works with my Yaesu FT-2000?
You bet! I use it on my ole FT1000mp.
w6hn Great News 🎉 Cheers!
Fantastic. I'm going to order it soon.
Do I understand it correctly that 1 rigpi can control multiple radios, or do you need a rigpi for each radio?
1 controls multiple radios I THINK

RigPi is multiple-radio, multiple-op using an account system to log in. One account per radio, and accounts can share radios. Only one RigPi needed!
Wish I was there KC3NLS

Why are they not talking price ?
Its shows $299 on the sign in the video I believe
How do I connect it up to my FT101ZD and TS520😊
You buy two devices at 299,- each and use them as mentioned ("multiple accounts") - what did you think? ;)
@@salat Exactly..600 Spent and it still doesn't work because Neither of my Rig,s has Cat Control, Bit of a Dog.😉😊
Only one RigPi needed for multiple accounts. Each account can use a dedicated radio or can share radios with another account.
