To be honest I've always loved this scene, I never really understood why people hate the spino (granted its not accurate, but its as accurate as it can be for its time) because to me it seems to show that the t-rex isn't the strongest thing out there despite what a lot of people tend to think. I get why people don't like the JP3 spino, cuz it definitely had its flaws, and I will admit, I also was a bit angry when the spinosaurus just demolished the buck rex. However I've grown to accept this scene, and I actually love it now, it shows that, just because you love the rex, doesn't mean it can't get overpowered by something stronger.
Well I think our answer is inside the movie remember the spino got hit by the plane and the spinal went after the humans then they ran into the Rex and it followed them then spino was still chasing humans but got distracted by Rex and the rex attacked it first and the spino had no choice but to fight and kill

Tbh I think Jurassic park 3 shows that the t rex wasn't like the apex predator of the franchise and that the Spino beat the bull T-rex. I also thought that the T-rex that got its neck snapped was actually the baby T-rex from the lost world all grown up. Although most people don't like this film in the franchise, In my opinion, this film was my favorite besides TLW: JP.

I love the fight scene what makes me like it is well you see at that time people will think all the rex was the big bad dinosaur nothing can kill it but this movie battle shows that the Rex was not impossible that it could get defeated it just shows that that there's something bigger than the Rex and shows that Rex was not the strongest dinosaur if you know what I mean
