As an addendum to my comment on the video prior to this. Yes, the bureaucracy that you have to go through to move to Australia (and I was born here and my husband and I were married here years ago) is unbelievable. I couldn’t believe how complicated it was - and I have a good education and speak English; how non-native English speakers cope is beyond me). You’re correct about the quality of life: husband has kept his UK job and now contracts for them. Effectively, his salary is the same as it was in the UK, but our overall quality of life is so much better. Medicare: wherever you’re coming from, check to see if there is a Reciprocal Arrangement between your origin country and Australia. There is one with the UK and when we first came here, we used this Reciprocal Arrangement to hook into Medicare immediately, which gave us time to sort out a more permanent solution. Hubby will be eligible to apply for Citizenship later this year.
That was nice. One point though and a very important one. If you migrate here without thought for the existing culture which sadly a couple of cultures happily ignore you will find it difficult to settle. Perth is not a tourist city so all the facilities are built for the community which visitors are welcome to share. As to the local community and that which feeds in to the isolation narrative, West Aussies don't celebrate our cultural differences, we celebrate what we have in common, family, kids and sport or outdoor activities, camping or just sharing spaces, no one is special. Should you claim a higher social status you may find you will be quickly put in your place, visitors included. We are not culturally Sydney or Melbourne, in Australian cultural terms they are on the fringes and in truth have little common with the rest of the country. We don't need to mimick others, why should we when we already have our own style. Our environment in particularly nature and how we both protect and embrace it is the soul of this State and it outranks every other state, best respect it or leave. Enjoy, it's a wonderful state to live in.
Do we have a lot of snakes that we come across in perth streets, toilet seats and backyard? Also do we also have a lot of unemployment and drug issue? How is crime rate
You people keep talking about salary, those salaries are only good when you are out of those countries not in them, SA still has a better quality of life, it’s cheaper
Leave Cape Town for Perth? Sounds awful, just don’t see how I can enjoy such an isolated quiet town. Even worse it’s more expensive and I would have to downgrade my lifestyle, go ahead and you can all go. I’m not making such an expensive mistake😂
😮i live in Perth and could not disagree more. This place is hot, dry, and unpleasant. Scenery is horrid. Give me green and rain any day…i will try not to judge too frankly though, because i immigrated from a bric country so i get it.

Why don’t you go back to your green and rain?! As an immigrant Perth welcomed me and provided a safe haven.
It's not for everyone so rather than torture yourself live somewhere greener, Melbourne is wet and green, perfect.
Western Australia is not for everyone. You might find Melbourne is more to your liking.
