      Each to their own I guess, but this is much more enjoyable, to me at least, that the original. Props to Beethoven for the beautiful theme, and to Lionel for the arrangement. I do wish this had been included in the Epic Fur Elise that MusicalBasics released a while back, however.

    • @talknight2
      @talknight2 4 роки тому +334

      @@flatblack7406 Elisabeth Roeckel, known to her friends as Elise, was the younger sister of Joseph Roeckel, a singer who performed in Beethoven’s opera Fidelio. She wrote letters documenting her flirtatious relationship with the composer when she was younger, and remained close to him until his death in 1827.
      The woman most people believe to be Elise, however, has long been Austrian singer and performer Therese Malfatti. It’s thought that Beethoven proposed to Malfatti around 1810, and she either rejected him outright or accepted and changed her mind shortly thereafter. If that’s the case, why would it be named “Für Elise” instead of “Für Therese”? The argument is that it was "Für Therese"-and somewhere over the years, the name was mistranslated. Another fact working in Malfatti’s favor: The original manuscript in Beethoven’s hand was found in her possessions after her death, apparently labeled “Für Therese.” It has since gone missing, resulting in a classical music mystery for the ages.

    • @AK-jt7kh
      @AK-jt7kh 4 роки тому +33

      I don’t think Fur Elise is dramatically different in skill level while you’re playing it...or is there something I’m missing here? Is the arrangement we all play today not like the original?
      There are things that are super hard to play and I feel like with his skill, if Beethoven really wanted to he could have made the ending incredibly difficult. As it stands, if there is a difference, it’s not much of one. That doesn’t seem like spite to me.
      In any case, Moonlight Sonata also increases in complexity. I think there aren’t a lot of songs in the classical genre that don’t, because of the way classical music is written to build on itself and take detours.
      I think this might be a “real rumor” if that makes any sense? But I don’t think it’s actually true.

    The story of 'Fur Elise', though, is that Beethoven wrote it for one of his students that he was infatuated with but was a terrible player. He made a simple but seemingly complicated piece for her to play. Then one day he found out she was engaged and in his anger added to the composition to make it extremely complicated. Beethoven was super petty but I dig it.

    So I am a DnD player. My first character was a wood elf ranger whose fiancé died during a dragon ambush. She went for about five years believing her soulmate was dead until she found out not only that he is alive, but also he is the evil champion of a corrupt god who plans on releasing him from the nine hells to cause chaos.
    My character's name is Elyse, and this perfectly fits her downward spiral into insanity. But then she gets better and ends up becoming a minor deity, going to the hell realm where this god is, and kills him, releasing the soul of her soulmate.
    Thank you for making something that perfectly captured my character's emotions during the hardest part of her life. This was awesome to listen to, to get into her mindset before the session

    And thats how the master himself created a masterpiece. That even after 100 years and no matter how it is played, its still a part of musichistory.
    No one in this time will ever be able to compose like Beethoven or other classical composers did. There is no music comparable in this time, to what the old masters created.
    They created worlds, storys...
    And even after hundred of years they are able to be retold.
    And i tell this as a musician who doesn't wants to hear Für Elise anylonger, because conceptually its to not comparable to other classical work from Beethoven or other composers. But compared to other composers its still and will ever be a masterpiece.

      it was suppose to be Fur Therese and not fur elise but because Therese did not want to marry him, he named it fur elise because he misspelled it wrongly and thus made it to a break up

    Fur Elise has always been one of my absolute favorite melodies. I have several different versions of it. This had made me fall in love with it again. This was haunting and exciting all at the same time. Absolutely Fantastic!! Thank You!!
