- Senior Minister of NWFP Bashir Ahmed Bilour claims while addressing
NWFP assembly on Friday (Feb-26) that, Urdu is not national language
of Pakistan.
The opposition in the NWFP Assembly walked out of the House in protest
at Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilours comments that Urdu is not
the national language.
In a bid to substantiate his claim, Bilour said the national language
had to be spoken by the entire nation or the majority of people.
However, the JUI-Fs Mufti Kafayatullah cited Article 251 of the
constitution to confirm that Urdu was Pakistans national language. He
charged Bilour with disrespecting the constitution. The PML-N and the
PML-Q were among other parties to walk out of the House.
Opposition Leader Akram Khan Durrani later told the media that Bilour
had violated the constitution. Well talk to the Election Commission
about Bilours remarks, he said.
@Bbubbo : I am pushun but i know my brother prefer to escap from schools and polish others shoes. They waist their time to watch stupid movies of Shahid khan and arbaaz khan. They dont like to appoint their daughters as doctor but accept male doctors to check their families. Thier male actors wear pushtun dress and keep moustaches but heroin wear jeans and dance in the mountain, that is they cant get postions in armed forece or in other services, i saw a lot of them in forces as officer also,
@tmjatala YOU are correcty, the one who steal from other provinces and uses ISlam for politcs while it sucks the blood of other Muslims. This is not Pakistan but should be called Punjabistan..everything belongs to Punjab even though they are over 50% they control 95% of Arm to civil service positions...60% speak Punjabi, and 7% speak Udru and Pashto is spoken by 8% while Pakhtuns make up 17% of the population considered..You have the right to your PUnjabistan and I have a right to be independent
Bashir Bilour is absolutely right and one of the argument in favour of his comments will be the breaking of east Pakistan in 1971 when the Bengali people agitated against the Urdu language. Bengali strongly objected & rejected the Urdu as being the national language as at that time it was the mother language of only 2% people while bengali was the mother language of 55% Pakistani b4 1971. Now Urdu is spoken by oly 8 or 9% Pakistanis while Pashto is spoken by almost 16 or 17 % people in Pakistan.

@ThePakwatan, it should not unite us at the cost of endangering our ancient mother tongues. Urdu is not our mother tongue and it is not our national language.
Pakistan main majority log urdu na bolte tu aap yehi taqreer pushu main karte jo abhi urdu main kar rahe hain,,, agar aayeen main hai keh urdu national language hay tu theek, yeh majority ki logic samajh main naheen aaye? Majority pakistan main cricket kheelti hay magar natinal game hocky hai. aisa phir kyun hay bilour sahib?
Majority aapko pasand naheen krti phir aap national leader kyun?

I Fully appreciate Bilour"'s appraisal of the language realities in Pakistan . Anyways although being a Punjabi I will not insist upon the language of majority ,s (Punjabi ) right o be national language, instead all of the provincial languages , Balochi. Sindhi, Pushto and Punjabi should be declared National Languages .This wise and just step will surely strengthen the federation of Pakistan
VERY BRAVE MAN.........HAMARE DILON MAI ZINDA RAHENGY
Punjabbi is provincial dude but urdu is our national. Urdu makes us united.
