Make sure it's top dead center from the plug on the left side in between the cylinders. The cam will have a arrow n the line from the oil gear the cam shaft gear it will all make sense. If you do adjustables. Run them out til they seat. Put a paint dot on it. Then turn it 3 turns and lock down
That bike would be a keeper for me too, if nothing else just to hang out in your garage with your buds and a few beers to admire it. That movie was one of my all time favorites, especially the last scene. Just subscribed, really enjoying your channel.
Loved the original bike this one is ok I have a 87 FXLR and love the old bobber style but that's Harleys bike lol my home boy and he's a pretty cool dude hey Mickey love your work I'm still a fan after all these years 🤓👍
I saw original in NYC. I was working as bouncer in strip club, and Chuck Zito pulled up on that bike. Spoke to him and yes that was original bike that was given as present to him from Mickey Rourke
fair dinks mate you got to be dirty about those missing donk parts, bit suspect on that frame too, feel for ya...good luck with it though love a marlboro bike too.
this bike is what got me into Harleys. After watching the movie and we all know this movie if your into harleys......im 51 now and got a 03 1450 softail its gray and looks a little bit like your bike that's why i bought it..its not a new bike but it took me from 1991 to this year to get one...i got one..ride on
There was a replica bike for sale by chance 45 mins from my house last month on Craigslist. I called the guy, told him I would be there the next day with cash in hand, I didn’t care how it ran I would deal with it later. Got all the way there for the guy to say, someone got here before you so I had to sell it. What??!! 🤬 one day I’ll get one. That’s a nice bike man. Congrats.
I've never seen the show or movie, but you reminded me of the theme song for it. I have it on my main biker playlists. music.ua-cam.com/play/PLlFrRPKzi7HjyGKT_4xUTqC1mfcrcmFVv.html&feature=share music.ua-cam.com/play/PLlFrRPKzi7HjwhT65MUO9daRnVlMdkFWZ.html&feature=share
@@mariek6993maybe not you. But I have a garage full of old skool rigid frame choppers that I ride all the time. I just got back from Los Angeles. I live in Phoenix. I took my 61 panhead. Kick only. Hardtail. No front brake. No turn signals. Bare bones real deal chopper stuff. I'm just used to rigid frame bikes. To be fair I also have a 09 Dyna Street Bob. It rides to work daily. But I ride my choppers a lot.
A company called DRM used to build them. Originally the bike in the movie was and FXR Dynaglide which was converted to a hardtail frame. Bike had a 120" S&S motor I believe. Any big twin Harley Evo motor would work in that frame. Drmshop, Black Death bike or frame kit. Hope this helps. It's a beautiful bike for sure.
You know....I was just a young boy when I saw the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, and I said, one day I want to be just like that guy, ridin' a Harley solo, all over the highway.....well, now I am! and to me that movie is a cult movie, I know the plot isn't anything from another world, but for bikers this movie is a cult one. Always loved that bike, sorry to watch it's been treated in such a bad way, no push rods?, what a bunch of s...krs!....but I believe you did a great job bringing it back to life!. By the way, love that Motorhead sticker! Motorhead and Harleys, what else does a man need? uh? Ride on!
It would have passed a leak down test. It would have just been a waste of time. Taking the 4 bolts off the rocker cover was the quickest way to see what was going on. A bike has to be running and driving to get wrecked unless it’s been messed with.
dont remember the year but its was an FXR and they built 3 of them. Black death 3 was a 98 inch stroker but it didnt get used. Had issues getting it started constantly. Mickey Rourke gave it to Chuck Zito. They used Black death 2. Black death 1 wasnt liked by Mickey Rourke.
OK using struts locking up the swingarm is a very rough ride. Actual hardtails IE rigid frames dont ride as bad. I own both types. Spoked wheels are better than mags as well. The spokes flex a little. Always use lower air pressure in the rear tire. Sprung solo seats ride better too. Lots of us now use a monoshock under the seat instead of springs. But yup rougher ride regardless. I build ol skool choppers. Stock bikes suck.
My second bike was a old 69 hardtail harley with a one gallon teardrop gas tank , his and her seat , short sissy bar , Z handle bars , drag pipes and chrome fully chopped springer front end and it was sharp old black bike but it rode like log wagon i traded a red 66 Fairlane 500 4speed for it
I really do not get this video... you bought a wrecked Harley with bad decals and wrong model. Even the gas tank is wrong. I mean... why not just find an FXR? Harleys do not change over time that much. I built my own replica of that bike 20y ago. And still drive it. My cards on the tank are more suited for me though.
Nice how you say the previous owner stole parts off of it when it their's to begin with. Nice bike though, I'd be riding the hell out of it rather than letting it sit.
From what I see, insurance paid the owner for a damaged front ended bike. Then the dude pinched the parts out of it. They weren't his. He ripped the insurance company and the purchaser of the bike.
well not always. The Black death bike is fucking iconic. Im building a replica myself. Not like Mickey Rourke is just gonna sell Black death 1 or 2. Obviously everyone will know its not the actual bike. Im good with that.
Nice bike! I would like to have a replica like this someday. It was one of my favorite movies as a kid
Very cool. And I like how you overcame and moved on
I love watching you guys, I wish you posted more videos, but it's alot to run a business rebuild bikes, edit and post videos. Thanks for sharing.
We appreciate that! Wish we could get more out too but it’s tough. We’re trying!
Cool replica, always been a favorite.
Highlighted really well in the opening of the movie. I'd keep it too!
That was the best movie bike ever. You have a great replica of it.
I'm happy your getting this done...I was there in the end of September thanks for letting me hang out in the shop with you. Pratty

Probably my favorite movie bike also. Great score and enjoy it!

🤘
I personally would be checking the welds on that rake. It looks like a Vinyard with all the grapes hanging around!

One of my absolute favorite Bikes.

Awesome project, thank you for sharing.
The movie bike had twin front discs I think.
Looks like it has a twin disc front wheel and fork legs. Maybe just not on there yet?
Performance machine brakes
This movie is why I own a Harley now.
I understand how you feel about this bike. I want one also.
I saw original in NYC. I was working as bouncer in strip club, and Chuck Zito pulled up on that bike. Spoke to him and yes that was original bike that was given as present to him from Mickey Rourke
He has the original! I would love to see that bike. He just had it redone last year also
fair dinks mate you got to be dirty about those missing donk parts, bit suspect on that frame too, feel for ya...good luck with it though love a marlboro bike too.
I got mad too but to have what the other owner did is like the Harley shops here in Grand rapids mi . Glad u got it going I love this bike . ❤
I have a wrecked 1984 tour glide that I'm thinking about making into a Harley Davidson and Marlboro Man bike
Wrong frame..
thats not an FXR
Truthfully I'm surprised that Motor had pistons in it I thought for sure that they swept the good motor for some piece of junk they had laying around
We’ve been waiting on another awesome project bike! We love you guys!

I like it that’s my dream bike style I just got a Fxrs to and it was missing parts wires and had water in bottom end of motor
Cool project bike, man. I guess I'd be caught off guard too for the lack of internals.
Love that bike!
Hey you got the Marlboro bike though! Lots of guys out there would love that bike. You make that bike look small though! lol!
that bike good be a great addition to the 3 bikes that i already have , i can watch the movie all day long 👍
Cool as bike man. She's a keeper for sure.
I have always wanted that ride...and the Billy Bobber from Easyrider, that one is exceptionally difficult to find.

Always one of my favorite bikes ! But she needs a Pingel 👍🏼
She's a looker, nice job!
The original Marboro Bike Was stored in a motorcycle shop in New Rochelle New York Chuck Zito bought that bike about 20 years ago from Mickey Rourke
Nice! May I ask how much you paid for the crashed bike?80CI EVO?
Needs twin disk's at the front ! How long are those forks ??and front rear tyre sizes , and frame details please .
I would have loved to see you actually work on the bike.. cool ride
Been missing yall!
Awesome!
nice job keeping the motorhead sticker 🤟
Well done
Ever done a Sportster? I'd like to see a replica of the Then Came Bronson bike.
I've never seen the show or movie, but you reminded me of the theme song for it. I have it on my main biker playlists.

Don’t usually buy sportsters so haven’t really thought about it.
these newbies dont know about ironheads. They wouldnt have a clue what to do with it.
@@chopperchopster I bought a brand new one in 1979, at age 20. I quickly learned all about it. You have to if you are going to keep it going.

Do you have any idea what brand of hand and forward controls they used?
If I want to build a clone of it; what bike/frame would I need? Engine? Any help will be appreciated.

Because they put them in another bike they were fixing duh! Lol cool video
Awesome 👌
Motor sounded funny when cranking it over..like a lazy cylinder for sure
Legendary bike.....
Love the Black Death Harley....hey wanna sell it?
Would be wiser to do a cylinder leakdown test before disassembling anything.
no shit. I always do that to any bike I get my hands on. Compression test isnt as good. Just takes more time to leakdown test.
It would have passed a leak down test. It would have just been a waste of time. Taking the 4 bolts off the rocker cover was the quickest way to see what was going on. A bike has to be running and driving to get wrecked unless it’s been messed with.

FXR 1990ish model
