See, the thing is, everyone questions why Makoto is pressing heavy on questions. It's because she can't just dance around the subjects, because it would come across as too suspicious. She's pressing so hard in order to keep things a bit more under wraps to the rest of the people in auditorium.
Right, by doing that she could also pretend to be dumbfounded if he accused her of being a PT and based on Makoto's spotless reputation the public opinion would be split down the middle.
Makoto being the smartest in the group, she had probably realized at this point that Akechi was already aware of their identities. Beating around the bush would've been a waste of time for both of them. By pressing him with question she pushed him into putting his cards on the table as well. Also, remember that they were already suspicious of him due to the pancakes episode.
@@CidGuerreiro1234 It was Morgana who first was suspicious of Akechi. after everyone left the faculty room after the scene Morgana then told Joker if he caught his slip up too. He also advised Futaba to create a bug on his phone to truly confirm it. However, it was Makoto who created the plan to trap Akechi and save Joker.
Nah, my logic was if Makoto can find out who the Phantom Thieves were on the third palace alone and despite being on bad terms on the start. Then surely, Mr. Detective who is already on speaking terms with us can too. Also prior to the reveal, he did see us going in the palace too.
Dude, I KNOW. Scenes like this, two smart people duking it out with words, not quite sure what the other knows, or what they know each other to know, always a double entendre in every question. GOD it's so engrossing. If the Persona 5 anime was done right, this scene would have been met with the protagonist and Ryuji standing on the side, Ryuji getting mad, while the protag just starts wheezing, before moving rooms to nearly pass out from the pressure in the room, barely able to moan out "Igor, take the wheel... I feel like my guts have improved."
Itd be cool to see people react to Akechi mentioning pancakes when it was morgana that said it. It would be interesting to see how many people realized Akechi could understand morgana back then before this
Based on the text on the Kagato section of the previous vid that seems like it's likely to be part of the "second pass" of moments that were missed either because they weren't thought of or because having a video for them that early would be a spoiler
Makoto was super awesome in this scene. She did a great job fishing for infos and pressuring Akechi without raising any suspicion. She just asked, what the general public would want to know and didn't let him off the hook. That's doing her job as a moderator, while getting intel for the Phantom Thieves. She also didn't lose her cool, even when things turned to the worst. He just knew already, but that's not her fault. She was not outsmarted here.
@Deka She had to. How suspicious would it be if she hadn't asked him the question everybody was waiting for? But she kept her cool and played the professional moderator even when he was like a second away from destroying her life.
@Deka tbh I figured they should remained anonymous but that stupid ass Ryuji the one who can’t keep his mouth shut and talk about being famous if it was me we would had our tracks covered like kaneshiro
@Deka Well, it was stated before that this would be a gamble so what exactly did you expect? Essentially their backs were against the wall at this point and it was make or break, they got lucky but i don’t think that really hinders the story or makes the characters seem stupid.
she was very much outsmarted here, she literally says “did you set this up?” This was going to be a way for Phantom Thieves to gain more intel (and they did by finding out who the traitor was) but that wasn’t tinfoil after Akechi set up the deal for Sae’s Palace as he lead them on to try to kill joker. it wasn’t until they had the discussion in the faculty office is when Akechi drove himself to the wall because that’s when Morgana figured out his deductions were correct and informed everyone about it later.
I mean let's be honest, the group sucked ass at being under the radar. You can't be seen hanging out together all the time when everyone has been connected to each villain.
Huh? Kamoshida was probably the PE teacher to all the students at Shujin, Kanoshiro's gang was targeting dozens of students from Shujin so the only odd one would be Madarame's case since Yusuke started hanging out with kids from Shujin but that's very hard to discover unless Yusuke's already your main suspect. Also why would you assume that students are the Phantom Thieves in the first place? My main suspects would be Shiho's parents, either they started pursuing vigilante justice or hired some yakuza thugs to blackmail Kamoshida.
@@kana22693 You have the new student, that transfered less than a month before the incident, the one student that hates Kamoshida the most, openly, and the girl Kamoshida tried to make her sleep with him, wich also is the best friend of the girl that tried to kill herself because of Kamoshida. And they all suddenly start to get together around the time Kamoshida had his heart changed. Then Yusuke, the only current pupil of Madarame starts hanging with them, around the time Madarame's heart is changed. And then Haru, the only daughter of Okumura, starts hanging with them, around the time he has his heart changed. Yeah. not suspicious at all.
Quite frankly it's weird and mostly made by plot convenience that other people *didn't* figure out their identities. Like you guys said, all the people connected to the changes of hearts (especially the new student) hanging out together should've been extremely suspicious to everyone. Everyone knew about Kamoshida's abuses for years, and then a month after the transfer student shows up, this happens? Huh.
What Akechi did here was really smart in getting the PT attention. Because if Makoto had dropped her questioning then that would be suspicious as she’s been investigating individuals within the school. But by challenging him to drop the names of PT members by setting up the chance to MEET the PTs he now has a massive advantage in negotiations.
kagato slamming Ryuji lol - I was just sat there saying "hellloooo, did you forget that Akechi was DIRECTLY BEHIND THE SIGN?! /I think you may want to re-examine that scene" *Laughing*
I think Makoto was pushing him into spilling the beans on whether or not he knew their identities. If he did, beating around the bush wouldn't have made a difference. And if he didn't, she would've been unable to confirm it without confronting him more directly about it.
@@CidGuerreiro1234 I highly doubt that, think about it. she didn't expect him to say what he did, she expected him to go along the lines of patterns and profiling their psychology and motives. when he asked her why she wasn't asking him about their identities he created a catch 22. either she plays disinterested and risk having the crowd get nasty or she asks him about his suspicions and risk getting outed at school either way a no win scenario

Akechi: "I know their identities" Me: "Of course you do e.e" Makoto: "Then, tell us who they are." Me: "Wot. See Makoto? This is why I do not accept the statement of you being best girl."
The best way to not make yourself seem suspicious is to push the other person into breaking the truth in front of you so you don't give in to their facade.
