@kbddd Thank you for posting this. Fred Martin was my dad. He, Burt, and Jerry formed the Cass County Kids at WFAA in Dallas, Texas, in 1938. They changed their name to the Cass County Boys in 1945-46, after coming to Los Angeles to work for Gene Autry. Dad died three years ago. I miss him.
To kbddd: So that's the Jerry Scoggins who sang The Ballad of Jed Clampett. Interesting. I often wondered why the producers never had Lester Flatt sing the theme. I used to listen to the Gene Autry radio show on Sunday night in the 50's when I was a kid. It was sponsored by Wrigley's chewing gum.
You will probably never see this, but yes, Cass County is a real place. It is a county in east Texas, where my dad grew up. Dad and Jerry Scoggins were jamming on WFAA radio in Dallas in 1938, to fill airspace, and the announcer Ralph Nimons spontaneously called them the "Cass County Kids," off the top of his head.

Great music and great harmony, kbddd. Is Cass County a real place and, if it is, where is it situated?
