    Love your setup. We are doing 6 months in the van next year. Wishing I could take a rooftop tinny, but will put us overweight. Currently pulling a New Age Road Owl with our Pajero. Will be taking my Hobie kayak with me for our trip, which should get me out there at least.

    Great setup mate. That boat loader in particular is awesome. I love how it all revolves around having a capable tinny. I can’t fish without an electric motor anymore, or a good sounder. I’m impressed with the simplicity of your power supply for the vehicle and boat, just goes to show things don’t need to be too fancy. I’ll need to upgrade my small power system in our caravan when we want more off grid travelling, will definitely be giving your mates a call that fitted out your van when the time comes. Enjoy the rest of your journey, looking forward to future vids 👍

      Cheers Anthony. The 100aH lithium with a 25amp BCDC charger is all we need in the back and it does a great job. Surprisingly covers all our needs and is so good for the reduced weight in the tinny too.
      I have learnt a tonne re. The power needs off road now and am so stoked with the quality gear we went with. It’s an expensive product compared to cheaper alternatives that I’ve had pushed at me through ads online but it’s been so reliable as we’ve travelled and with the high drawing use we’ve got from it, they’re a brilliant product that the company stands by. I’ve heard some of the frustrations of people buying their first lithium batteries and getting owned by the time they’ve finally hit some remote areas and it must suck, cause even the cheap makes are big bucks.

    As usuall, absolutely Awesome Johnny,please thank Lauren for the extra camera work she has been doing for us all to enjoy,as I'm sure it can be a lot of work at times with one eye on the screen and the other on the kids.Lovely to see you on screen talking to us Lauren.Great content on the in depth set up you went into as I have been wondering how it all come together.

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  2 роки тому

      Cheers Paul. I’ll have to pull some of that stuff together. The second half of our trip has tended much more towards the varied family moments and not just the fishing which has been a nice surprise I wasn’t expecting to enjoy as much as I have. Hiking about with the kids and just walking through towns together has been brilliant.

    thx Johnny for the run through. interesting to know wat breakages n mechanical dramas u had, hopefully none. u dont need to spend 150 plus grand on a landcruiser n a fancy caravan with an ensuite to do a 12 month trip round this country. ur set up is light n easy to operate n goes to all the same places as do the fancy rigs. better still n really important is that Lauran can drive n handle this rig in case of emergency. keep safe the Costello Family.

    Bud how do you charge the battery in the back of the ute? off the car or is it hooked up to the solar panels too?

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Wayne. It can be hooked up but isn’t. I’ve only charged it off the car and through a RedArc 25amp BCDC charger. It’s quick to charge and has never been run flat at that. ;) if we sat the car still for 5 days with the freezer going then that might do it, but it’s not yet been the case. Even a half hour driving pumps plenty in ;)
