The lyrics take on a whole new meaning if you think of purple guy singing the song. He lost his son to his own creation and feels sorrow and a need for revenge against the bullies who killed him.

After I listened to this cover, I've come to the conclusion that this isn't actually someone else contemplating their loss, but an internal battle between William Afton and the Man Behind the Slaughter, between the father and the murderer. Thinking about it that way really makes it that much more tragic, going from chaotic force of evil to a man who lost everything because of his own poor choices (namely, child murder, so I don't feel TOO bad for him).
Part of why I prefer the order of the timeline where the Crying Child is the first death, it really makes everything tragic as William goes from a somewhat cold, poorly socialized father who had a hyperfixation on his favorite rabbit costume to a mournful killer who starts out trying to find a solution to saving his child, but eventually decides he'll go much grander and make killing a hobby that feeds his grand plan to make his whole family immortal. In the Novels, he also shows that he considers the children re-animating as the animatronics as him giving them a "gift" and making them "family", so the deranged father aspect to his character fits so much more.
It’s been a while since a song has given me literal chill. Something about this cover gave me crazy goosebumps, especially the way he sung “my temper” and “I’m sorry, my sweet baby, I wish I’d been there.” The range in Caleb’s voice is so impressive! He can go from deep and growly to gentle and emotional in a matter of seconds. Amazing!
I know this is supposed to be a mother's POV, but Caleb's cover makes it sound like it was Henry's song instead. And actually, the lyrics could work just as well with him, too. Oh, and THANK YOU Caleb for this work!
You always put 100% into your songs, I really admire that about you. I can tell you really put yourself in that role and the way you use clever lighting and vocal techniques and movement to tell a story is just really incredible. It's like a form of interpretive dance! I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to lose a child, especially to one's own carelessness, but I can imagine it is an incredibly painful experience. I know the song's technically not canon, but still imagining the pain and horror the mother must have experienced hearing her own child went missing and then finding out he was brutally murdered... dear god. It wasn't really her fault, the Purple Guy killed her son, but still she feels horribly guilty and blames herself because she looked away and didn't keep a closer eye on him. It's sad but such things do occur in real life, children are abducted or wander into the road or they drown because parents aren't paying attention. That is why, as a parent, it is extremely important you always stay close to your kids and teach them also to stay close to you, especially when in or around bodies of water. We had a case in my hometown of a three year-old child drowning because her mother foolishly left her alone near the lake with her other child, who was only five! I can only imagine the pain and guilt that mother must be in right now. It's hard for me to have sympathy for her, or for other parents who carelessly lose their children to preventable accidents such as those, but at the same time I suppose I do have a bit of sympathy because that is going to haunt her for the rest of her life. This is why there really ought to be mandatory parenting classes, and those classes should cover not just infancy but later childhood and adolescence as well!

After I listened to this cover, I've come to the conclusion that this isn't actually someone else contemplating their loss, but an internal battle between William Afton and the Man Behind the Slaughter, between the father and the murderer. Thinking about it that way really makes it that much more tragic, going from chaotic force of evil to a man who lost everything because of his own poor choices (namely, child murder, so I don't feel TOO bad for him).
Part of why I prefer the order of the timeline where the Crying Child is the first death, it really makes everything tragic as William goes from a somewhat cold, poorly socialized father who had a hyperfixation on his favorite rabbit costume to a mournful killer who starts out trying to find a solution to saving his child, but eventually decides he'll go much grander and make killing a hobby that feeds his grand plan to make his whole family immortal. In the Novels, he also shows that he considers the children re-animating as the animatronics as him giving them a "gift" and making them "family", so the deranged father aspect to his character fits so much more.

It’s been a while since a song has given me literal chill. Something about this cover gave me crazy goosebumps, especially the way he sung “my temper” and “I’m sorry, my sweet baby, I wish I’d been there.” The range in Caleb’s voice is so impressive! He can go from deep and growly to gentle and emotional in a matter of seconds. Amazing!
I know this is supposed to be a mother's POV, but Caleb's cover makes it sound like it was Henry's song instead. And actually, the lyrics could work just as well with him, too.

Caleb high key puts SOOO much enthusiasm into his covers.
You always put 100% into your songs, I really admire that about you. I can tell you really put yourself in that role and the way you use clever lighting and vocal techniques and movement to tell a story is just really incredible. It's like a form of interpretive dance! I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to lose a child, especially to one's own carelessness, but I can imagine it is an incredibly painful experience. I know the song's technically not canon, but still imagining the pain and horror the mother must have experienced hearing her own child went missing and then finding out he was brutally murdered... dear god. It wasn't really her fault, the Purple Guy killed her son, but still she feels horribly guilty and blames herself because she looked away and didn't keep a closer eye on him. It's sad but such things do occur in real life, children are abducted or wander into the road or they drown because parents aren't paying attention. That is why, as a parent, it is extremely important you always stay close to your kids and teach them also to stay close to you, especially when in or around bodies of water.
We had a case in my hometown of a three year-old child drowning because her mother foolishly left her alone near the lake with her other child, who was only five! I can only imagine the pain and guilt that mother must be in right now. It's hard for me to have sympathy for her, or for other parents who carelessly lose their children to preventable accidents such as those, but at the same time I suppose I do have a bit of sympathy because that is going to haunt her for the rest of her life. This is why there really ought to be mandatory parenting classes, and those classes should cover not just infancy but later childhood and adolescence as well!

of all the songs I've heard about parents losing their children tlt really did a great job at capturing a mother's emotions after losing their child they word it perfectly in my opinion I'm not a mom but I do know what it's like to lose something like that
