Don't panic people. These are the Common Smooth Hound (Tope are different) a small and harmless species of native shark of which there are many variations in European waters. I expect when he says they are 2m long they would only have been about half of that as things can look a lot bigger thanks to magnification caused by your diving mask and normal size is usually 1.2 - 1.5M. These beautiful sharks present absolutely no danger to humans and make a real treat viewing them when snokelling or diving. You were really lucky to see these andee I'm jealous. Great video thank you for sharing.
Hey Jake, i'm sorry but you haven't been there. I'm an experienced diver and i know that under water things seems to be a third bigger than real. Therefore i compared the length of the fishes with my body when we were swimming in parallel. You're absolutely right, these sharks were very friendly and uninterested. But they were as long as me, from my head to my flippers. And without my flippers i'm 190cm tall.
Where did I say I haven't been there.....? And not just Fuerta. If you say they are 2m for sure then thats good with me. Sorry if I offended you I was only relating the experience to a similar one of my own. 2m Smooth Hounds makes it an even luckier experience! I only meant to reassure people they are safe. Perhaps lets not mention the Hammerheads and Mako's that frequent those waters. OOOps
Intersting video! They're School sharks (We call them Tope in the UK). They migrate around temperate waters. Quite common and pretty much harmless to humans.
Thank you! I'm sorry, but to be honest i would like to know myself the type of these fine fishes. Perhaps somebody else viewing the clip could tell us... The drone-videos dont show any difference between sharks and the tons of seagrass in the bay.
Where is the best place to get a warm up surf in furteventura . I dont get to surf much these days and id like to get some nice but not to shallow or dangerous waves to start of my trip
Can someone having scientific background confirm the species of the sharks in thsi video? We are frequently surfing in the Canaries and I just want to be sure it's safe enough and what to do in an 'unlikely' case of attack. Thanks in advance!
Common Smooth Hound. Totally not dangerous and will never attack as you are simply nothing like anything on thier menu and much, much too big for them. In the almost totally impossible event of being attacked by a Smooth Hound Shark punch it on the nose (same with all sharks) if you can, leave the water and get medical help, raise the alarm and get others out of harms way. I won't mention the other sharks that you find there if you are worrried about these ones. ;)
Island in the Atlantic Ocean. I would be more surprised if there weren’t any sharks. Still not telling my other half otherwise she’ll never go in the water. 😂
Marcel, my thoughts exactly. I've been going to Corralejo for 24 years and as it's 50 miles off coast of Africa, why wouldn't there be bigger human hungry sharks?

My goodness I didn't know there are sharks and rays in the sea there!
I go there all the time and once stood on a mantar ray but no harm at all happened
Those islands are right at the african coast, there are way bigger sharks there than shown in this video (great white, hammer head, mako shark etc.)
beautifull animals! been there last summer but didn't spot a single shark. maybe the wrong time for sharks in corralejo :) awesome surf footage too!
Went in the sea at Corralejo today and saw at least six of them. They swam to within 10 feet of shore and 2 feet of us. Harmless but cute.
How lovely! Sweety litty sharky!
Great video - what type of sharks are these? Also, did you see them in the location shown in the drone footage?
Thank you!

what time (month) of year did you see those fish? march? spring?

March
Raul saw these sharks swimming in the shallows at Waikiki Beach today
Walked into shallows and took pictures which I have put on Facebook.
Which Beach is this,, and are the waves always this good?
I think it's the surfspot Rockypoint. No, just sometimes.

One year when I was sunbathing atGrandes Playas that thought came into my head and I've never gone in past my knees since!.
I was on the Grandes Playas last week! Lovely place. Back home to UK rain now.
Here are only baby sharks..So small, that they can't bite you.. Don't worry
