I still use DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes (good enough for Dolly Parton good enough for me) and vinyl records. My reel to reel died. Nice comparison & demo folks! IF the Grandkids were interested, I'd go with the Yamaha. But they already have 2 Taylor GS Minis with electronics and a PRS Parlor SE P20E in powder blue. Thanks
i have satellite internet. so i am glad i have a lot of my stuff on physical copies (dvd sets, dvd courses etc... also, people forget you can turn your vinyls, cds, DVDs,blurays to digital 🙊) also, people forget on summer camps it is/was forbidden to have a phone SO you have to have physical everything
Nice review guys..I preferred the color on the Yamaha, but I liked the sound of the Squire best. As always, Cooper makes either of them shine!😁 Thanks for the demo, now I know what to send to my nephew and niece for Xmas!! Happy holidays boys! ✌️😁
Squire still seems to be the starter guitar go to. It had a brighter/fuller sound and they just seem better built than the cheaper brands around the price point. The Yamaha is still very good though and I know they make great affordable guitars, there may well be a better one out there.
everyone has there own taste and both of these guitars are great value with slightly different tones, the Squier Affinity offers a brighter tone, whereas the Yamaha has a lower tone that's not as bright. i think Yamaha would be quieter to play at night for a kid, also i prefer the Yamaha amp over the Fender, but both are decent starter amps. now feel wise i prefer the Squier, but sound wise i like Yamaha. you can't go wrong either way, if you like the brighter tone go with the Squier, but if you don't want it to be as bright go with the Yamaha. these guitar packs have been around for a long time, i started with the Yamaha.
interestingly enough that is the first yamaha gigmaker pack on where the guitars are actually named "Pacifica" I have the gigmaker pack and the guitar was labeled as "ERG" which I think is the most common branding there is for the gigmaker starter guitars. That is still my only electric to this day and I still love it.
I'm also a beginner! And from what I've gathered the yamaha guitars are more better for beginners like you and I :) Sounds more...cleaner I'd say? And from the reviews i've seen it seems to stay in tune quite well and usually doesn't give you many issues
The Yamaha, for sure. It has much more stability and the tone is pleasant enough. It's considered one of the best starter guitars. The amp is pretty decent. Having a tuner will make things so much easier for you.
Yamahas pack is better than squier by far but if you are looking to go slightly more expensive a Jackson js and fender champion 20 is really good I have the used equivalent to that as my setup and it is really great you can also swap out the Jackson with a Les Paul special
@@taylorkraus9491 The problem with getting a JS is that it doesn't generally come with anything else. No gig bag, no tuner, no picks, no strap. Just an Allen key and an instruction manual, at least if you get it new from a retailer. Buying a case for a Rhoads, Warrior, or Kelly can cost nearly as much as the guitar itself, while decent Strat cases are easy to get for $80-$150. The Epi Special II performance packs are definitely comparable to the Squier pack. I highly recommend it, although the neck on those guitars is not smooth, to say the least, and the outputs can be very loose. They stay in tune much better than the Squiers, fortunately. Getting a Bullet almost makes locking tuners, a blocked tremolo, replaced nut, and roller trees necessities. Personally, I feel someone would get the most bang for their buck by grabbing a Donner guitar pack. They have really nice Strats for about the same price these sets used to be with a tuner, strings, picks, a lessons DVD, a gig bag, and a miniature amp included, for no shipping or tax. The headstocks aren't tacky like Glarry or Ammoon. Just a nice sensible guitar that plays really well and has the proper fret and neck treatments. Three knobs like a Squier rather than a Yamaha, and a bridge humbucker for the Fat Strat sound. They even give seasonal discounts for like 20% off. It's fantastic. 😎🖤
I didnt have a big box at x mas time except for a bike but my fav gift i ever got was the isley brothers cd... i knew i was getting it cause it was the only thing on my list 😂😂

Only the best tuners go to the gift packs..." You can always slip a Snark in a stocking... Mele Kalikimaka, Hauoli Makahiki Hou!
Ah that starter Fender amp. I had one that sounded the same when I started, and I hated it. Made me think my strat was trash. Fender guitars are great but their starter amps just are underwhelming. Just for the amp alone, I'd go Yamaha.
My biggest pet peeve of practice amps with two channels is that usually there is no foot switch. I always hated having to take my hand away from the guitar to press a switch. I think most people would rather pay a little extra to be able to hands free switch to the 2nd channel.
Here in India squirer doesnt have playable setups out of box while the yamaha generally have direct playability after opening even though both are made in Indonesia I Love warm and fat tones than the bright and chimy so My fav one is Yamaha here I also own one Pac012 But If I knew about I wud have gotten a NEWEN guitar they are the best ones for a budget as they are ARGENTINA made in their own factory and have have the best fit n finish for the price and pickups are generally rhe same for all budget guitars so nothing there I have the yamaha amp as well though I prefer headphones for now I mainly play my Donner HUSH SILENT GUITAR it has crazy playability and feels very smooth and I just can't get enough of it .
I'm currently in the market for my first electric guitar and have one main concern, shipping. Anyone in the comments ever have trouble with damaged guitars? Just curious
it depends even on whats available around you ... for me it was Classical guitar (nylon strings). yet, i agree that "acoustic" (steel stringed) guitars are the hardest to play because you need to have higher action to strum it strongly without buzzing.
Leo Fender's jack design beats Pacifica hands down. Why? Because the Strat's jack is embedded. Meaning it's plug isn't jutting out, easily bumped off. Unlike the Pacifica with its plug out and risking getting bumped off. Sound/tone? Not really too much difference. Anyway, you usually get the Strat S-S-S pups for the vintage rock & roll sound. My Pacifica came the other day, but I'm disappointed. Now, I understand why old-timers say these vids are mostly "sales talk". After all, this is an Alamo Music Center vid. They build up Pacifica as a quality built guitar, but this Pacifica that came had sharp fret ends. So, I'll be sending it back and sticking to my old reliable Squier Strat. These cheap Strat copies I can mod and mod and mod. Thanks.
@@gerryattrik4410 Thanks for the info. But I can't find a pacifica with its input jack recessed in its body, like the strat, to prevent the plug getting knocked off.
1. The output jack nonsense you're sprouting as an alleged negative is clearly done out of brand familiarity bias. It is a TOTAL non-issue. A zillion guitars use side or top mounted direct output jacks including those from Gibson, Epiphone, PRS, and Gretsch, another Fender Corporation brand. On the plus side, a direct output jack can accept right angle plugs as well as straight. Either way, the plugs are not ..ROFL "easily bumped off". 2. The physical balance of the Pacifica is superior, the overall body length shorter, the fingerboard radius is flatter, the string spacing is tighter. As to body shapes, those are individual preferences. I'm not bound to tradition, so prefer the the smaller Pacifica body, its body cutaways as well as its lines. The Squier body is probably Basswood, which is why it is perceptibly lighter, but dents more easily. Yamaha's PAC012 body used to be used to be Agathis, but has since changed to (Asian) Mahogany, which IMPE is about the same density/weight as Alder which explains why they are heavier than the Squier. They weigh in around 3.45KG, (about 7.6lb), a very comfortable weight. Both Tremolo bridge systems as any on guitars at this price point are token units, functionally rubbish as such. Both 15W make a noise out of the box ultra basic starter amps are just that. Primary difference is appearance, although in the Yamaha's favour, its aux in and headphone out jacks are 3.5mm, much more practical in the real world today. Both are OK starter packs. Either will do the job. Apart from the amp jacks, I think it most buyer's decision prices will boil down to brand bias aesthetics preference, although the fingerboard fit should be a consideration but won't be for most. Personally I wouldn't buy either. I'd spend that modest premium more and buy quality separate guitar, amp and accessories were I in that position, and did back when that was me. But these are targeted at the 'all in the box' at a budget price point starter.
@@theblytonian3906 No prob. Yamaha needs you to sell for them. I also use Yamaha guitars with the plug hanging out. I'm talking about good design. Not brand names. On the practical side, seems you haven't done a lotta gigs some bumping getting broken/cracked plugs.
I like the Yamaha sound better because it has a better melodic sound. The Squire would be louder gig wise. You want the Yamaha for writing songs. Neither one is truly gig worthy.I rather use acoustic for song writing.

Great comparison video. I would buy the one that sounds more authentic to me. Squier!

Best guitar is the one that comes with a Chris McKee signature on a sticky note!

That Fender Amp, did not like a dirty/gain sound. I tried to reach through my PC monitor to turn it off.
Yamaha built better. It's a main idea of cheap Yamaha's stuff - they make it perfectly using cheap parts.
Yamaha!! The winner!!!
Close , but no Guitar ! Thanks guys . Both share only small differences , but that's of course their signature to be a better than anyone else's .

2. Better sounding amp
