    I also lived in Montana a great place. I drove through a couple years ago and it's grown a lot in different areas. I didn't know that Hutterites had samplers. I do miss their fresh bread They were such nice people when they would come into the western store and shop. Beautiful stitching and wips. Thank you for sharing.🧵🪡

    Happy to see you back for a second video. Your projects are all so beautiful! Curious about your project on the silk gauze - what size silk gauze are you using? I learned a trick in a needlepoint class that keeps the wool off my tongue...bend an inch or two of the thread over your needle's shaft tightly and pinch and hold with your non-dominant hand. Just a bit of the pinched bent thread should be accessible between your fingers. Slide the needle out and slide the eye of your needle over the bent thread. No licking required. I'd never thought of using my crewel yarn on a sampler. How interesting...

      The piece I stitched for the Stitch-Con piece I think was on the called for count. For my friendship sampler exchange it called for 32ct and I stitched it in 36ct because it was just a scrap piece I had laying around hat was the right color.
      How Gloriana came to be the is a very interesting tale. I can’t wait for you to have all about it.

    Fabulous episode! Loved your WIPs - your stitching is seriously amazing! Was fascinated by the details of the Hutterites and their samplers, and would love to hear you do similar chats about the other types, like Rhode Island, Scottish, Fraktur, etc. I'd also like to know much more about Gloriana! And the best tidbit was your experience with the wool threads - I was thinking about trying them, but I'm sure that would be an issue for me too!

      That’s a good idea about the other types of samplers. I will definitely try and do that occasionally for upcoming episodes. I have stitched a couple of Rhodesia Island samplers so that would be a good starting point. Thank you for the suggestion.
      You should definitely try the wool threads and don’t let me sway you away from them. My habit and not thinking about what I was doing is what lead to my eye-opening experience. 😆

    I have really enjoyed your videos. I am very interested in learning about Gloriana silks and have some questions. I only have stitched with silks a few years and have lots to learn. When a pattern calls for Tudor silks does that just mean Gloriana? Also I read that Gloriana silks are exceptionally fine and wondered if that means they require larger thread count like the 103 silks? I prefer 36 count with one over 2. Are they suitable for that? You can see I would love your information! Thanks for any feedback

    • @StitchingInMyPajamas
      @StitchingInMyPajamas  Рік тому

      I am so glad you have enjoyed my videos and thank you for watching.
      Tudor silks are Gloriana. The different types of silks have different names. The regular Gloriana floss you can definitely use with one over 2. The Tudor is the finer version and you can actually stitch with two strands of Tudor to equal one strand of the floss. It's nice to stitch over two with the regular floss but then use Tudor to stitch over one, although the regular floss can be used over one too. On the higher thread counts I would used the Tudor, and like it for doing full cross on 40ct, over one thread. If you see that your shop has Luminescence that is Gloriana's 100/3 and Florimel is Gloriana's Soie d'Alger.
      Hopefully my next video will be talking with Anne herself, but I am happy to answer any questions you might have before that. ❤

    • @StitchingInMyPajamas
      @StitchingInMyPajamas  Рік тому

      Sometimes when stitchers use a needlework lap stand at a table, for example, when stitching, they will put a weight on it to keep it from tipping over. I will mostly use it for decoration.
      Others might have other uses for them, so I hope they weigh in 😉, but that is how I have used them in the past. Thank you for watching.

    What a great episode. Your casket is lovely, and Lucy Navier is quite amazing. Did you do the one over one with the 103's, or a thinner thread? It would be lovely to see Anne on a video.

      Thank you very much and thank you for watching.
      Yes, even the over-one on Lucy is done with 100/3. On the 46ct it worked great as well. I will let Anne know her fans are interested in seeing her. 😉Thanks again.

    #askAnn - what is the difference between the different Gloriana threads? What are the top five best selling colors and how has that changed over the years? What is the company's history? Does Ann stitch and if so, what is her favorite piece she has stitched?

      Thank you for the questions. When I first asked Anne about coming on with me I mentioned to her that her first topic might be a discussion about the different threads so you have just confirmed that that is a good idea. Thank you for watching. ❤️

    #askann- I am a new stitcher so some of my questions maybe common sense known by an experience stitcher, but here it goes. How many colors does Gloriana have? Is it variegated or can silk threads not be variegated? Do you use a certain size needle for silks or do you use the needle you like for the count of fabric you are stitching on? Only use one strand correct? Is there a conversion chart from other types of thread to match the colors? Can silks be used on any count? Can you use Gloriana on Aida, lugana or only on linen? If used on a larger weave (such as 14, etc) do you still use one thread? Is there a good size to cut the thread, I understand some silks can fray some when stitching?

      Those are great questions! I will add them to the top of the list. Thank you for watching.

    Ummm... what's a hudderight? How do you spell it? Is it a religious group like the Quakers? Did you say they were from Russia, Germany or Hungary? I think you maybe took it for granted that all of us would know who you are talking about? And I'm a history and art buff who's been stitching for years now so I know there must be others who are unaware. I think that Mary Hoff (?) towel was so charming and would love to see a similar pattern if you know of any or that one charted would be fantastic! Would also love to see it even closer up to see the stitches. Really cool things you have and would love for you to expound on them. Thanks for the video.

      Yes, you are correct, the Hutterites are a religious group, similar to the Mennonites. They were originally from Hungary, speaking German, and then moved to Russian. They were in Russia for many decades before coming to America.
      My apologies for not being more specific about them. When I talked about them in my video I forgot that I had mentioned more about them when I was “practicing” and it didn’t get relayed in my final version. I will try and get better about all of that in my future episodes.
      Thank you for watching and the helpful feedback.

      Thank you for clarifying. Those samplers are so charming. Now that I know how to spell it, I will be on the search for some that I can stitch. Looking forward to your next video. @@StitchingInMyPajamas

      @@spuffed Thank you so much. I know of only one Hutterite sampler that has been charted, but can't remember who it is from. I will look for it and get back to you when I find it.
