I have to say, I agree with these comments. I've been a single Mom and now a single homeowner trying to do projects ( I cant afford to pay someone, so I do what I can with these DIY projects) I loved seeing you with your girls. My Dad always helped me with projects and he would always tell everyone how I did things myself, he was so proud of me and not being affraid of tackling a project. He passed in 2021 and I miss him soooo much. This light project will be my first project without him amd my Mom. They were always here to help me 😢
Keep up with those girls helping, they'll cherish the memories and the lessons

I love that you are teaching your daughter how to wrangle heavy objects, operate machinery, and work on a team. Do help her to be mindful of how she positions her body before she moves anything. Her muscle power is in her legs, not her arms, so its important for her to center her weight over her feet. I got through 20 years as a female steelworker with hardly a scratch. How attentive she can be to her positioning and movement will help keep her safe from injury.

I just built some of these last week. Used a 1/2"x10" lag bolt to hole the post into the wine barrel. Used a big fender washer as a strong back. Then did a 12" sono tube cut to 10" tall as the primary weight. Looked at brackets that you used, but seems expensive and time consuming. Didn't test it, but pretty sure the cement didn't cure to the wine barrel, so it should all be removable. Filled the rest with dirt. I have a 10'x15' shade canopy spread between my 4 with lights and no issues with them being tippy, even in 20mph winds. I like your tension cord, may implement that. Nice looking set up all around.

I absolutely LOVE how you have your young daughter assist you. As a mama of four (now grown) girls it was imperative that we taught them how to do everything themselves and assist us properly. Well done- and yes, very funny!! Thank you!! May actually try to do this all by myself ( no longer have the other half to assist....) Cheers and keep doing these videos!

Awesome video and amazing quality. I have to tell ya, you got me with your interactions with your daughters. Give yourself a huge pat on the back for being an awesome dad in teaching them not only the technical skills they're learning, but more importantly, teaching them to build confidence in themselves, their abilities, instilling in them to take on doing things that they may not know how to do every part right now but heck - they trust that they'll learn even more from you down the road - also, not to mention the quality time spent together, taking pride in designing and making something by yourself through watching YOU work, and so, so, so much more. I had a little challenging time convincing MY dad that I truly wanted him to show me some of the woodworking stuff he knew because dad was always thinking it "should have been" my younger brother that would be interested surely because "he was a boy, and boys like to do this kind of stuff." ??? This was even after I showed special interest in my Industrial Arts classes in high school, was always making various kinds of stuff growing up - I just had that creative bug and loved working with my hands - as well as after graduating from high school I continued on in taking adult education courses at night in a couple different woodworking classes. Eventually he realized my interest was real and perhaps it had more to do with letting go of the idea that he thought it could have been a "bonding experience" for he and my brother, I'm only guessing at that, but he told me that he felt bad that he didn't spend more time with ME since I was the one that showed the interest and desire. It's gotta be hard being a parent (or anyone that works with kids and young adults) to let go of the preconceived societal gender related "appropriate" interests of how things are "supposed to go", and instead just pay attention to what each child, boy or girl, is naturally drawn to. But somehow it's gotta start shifting towards that because I'm sure the long term impact will be a LOT more happier kids, young adults, and older adults further on down in their lives, thus influencing generations. Sorry about the length of this response, I sure wasn't intending on it, but your video had so many great things going on about it that went way beyond the "ambiance" from the beautiful outdoor fire pit/seating area that you created. Subscribed. Looking forward to more videos and seeing your girls grow up as strong, confident, and capable women!
