I got mine in copper and Damascus and it's gorgeous. Insanely good flipping action. I have it as a "finishing touch" to an outfit instead of an EDC but it's sharp and will do light EDC tasks for sure. Highly recommend, super underrated. They're on sale currently at Blade HQ for a baller price.
I noticed that you don't have any issues closing yours one handed. I find it difficult to grip the liner with the meat of my finger. I do have big hands, just with it was easier to close.
@@57HEMIviken well if Kai learned how to properly heat treat their steels and fixed their lock bar geometry maybe more people would appreciate them. The last ZT knife that did anything for me was the 0550. I still have my 0200, 0700, and a couple 0350’s and still like and carry them but imo ZT has lost their way.
Just bought this one, I'm excited for it to come in. This will be my... 6th?🤔 Civivi.. They hit the butter zone when it comes to price vs quality. I vary between my Imperium and Chronic a lot for edc. I'm a fan of narrow knives that aren't pocket hogs. This will be carried a lot, I think.
Ditto on trailing point. I dont usually care for using one, but I will make exceptions. This may be one of those exceptions. It has a lot of what was missing for me with the mckenna.
I had every intention of mixing up my summer carry between the bugout and the McKenna. Welp, it's the end of Aug and the Bugout never made it into my pocket. Sorry not sorry! Love my McKenna! I'll be picking this one up as well. Wish they offered a few more color options but that's first world problems. Good review, Wayne.
just got mine today. so far flipper is a touch too sharp so it will be match stick opened till i get some sand paper. also wish the cut out was more utilitarian and the knife needs to be about 2 inches longer
I am not a fan of Persian style blades as a rule but this one is "mild" enough that I am ok with it. I am a HUGE McKenna fan so an interest in this knife is almost a given. I do wish, however, that the 10cr15mov blade was available with the brass scale version. My brass / 154CM McKennas reflect my overall ambivalence to Damascus steel. That said, my desire for brass scales exceeds my Damascus hesitancy. Nice review, as usual. Keep those Civivi reviews rolling!
It is no secret I am not a Civivi fan. Just have not had the best of luck with them. And I also am not a fan of Damascus blades. But the Civivi Lazar in hand rubbed copper or brass just speaks to me. The design is killer, sleek and with the brass material, I can not pass on it. Got one on order.
Also, as a side note, I got this knife because what you said about it. It just happened that an exclusive with micarta dropped. Too bad it's not coated 3v.
Understand the triangular cutout is a designer reference, but to me, as with a few other recently released civivi's it creates an unnecessary weak point. Also a bit supprised that you did not reference the Spyderco's Persian trailing point slim front flipper - Ikuchi
@@justinrowan4069 ...... and that would be just one reason why I choose not to select such intrinsically weak tools unless I am doing such tasks like ..... spreading butter, which I don't tend to use a folding knife for anyway ;)
@@bunyipdan ... yeah, OK. You can pretend that everyone does or should buy every pocket knife to do every job possible. Here in Realsville, the rest of us carry more than one knife and some of our knives are meant for certain tasks while others are not. Stopped by REC near Columbus, OH yesterday and bought a Lazar. Really liking it so far. I ended up getting the black G10 model instead of the brass as I had originally planned as I didn't really want Damascus. It feels good in hand and is wicked sharp.
Yeah 10cr15comov is definitely the way to go over Damascus. I hate Damascus to be honest its nothing special just a couple of cheap metals combined and usually it just makes the knife look like it belongs in a gas station 🤷
They all look the same to me BORING and cheap! all the same materials all the same finishes all the same style snoozefest. This one looks like a super budget ZT0460
I don't get your intro...like at all. How is this an answer to people wanting a larger McKenna? The McKenna is a straight, forward-swept wharncliffe... The Lazar is a Sinkevitch-style, trailing point persian. Apart from the obvious similarities of opening mechanism, maker and designer, how are these knives remotely similar to each other in shape or how they'd be used? They're as different as two knives from the same guy could possibly be. Okay vid, though it seems more like an unboxing/first look than a review. I know with new models you probably want to get the content out as fast as possible. Maybe show some use in that case? I'm nitpicking, I know. That being said, the McKenna comparison is still bonkers. Seek help ASAP. 🤪
Perhaps the flipper shape and feel, similar handle shape, and blade cutout aesthetics have something to do his assessment. I own both the McKenna and Lazar and they feel very similar in hand.
Since you have reviewed so many Civivis, how bout making list of your top 10 favorite? Great review as always
Definitely in the works, my man! 🙌🏼
Just grabbed this today. Looks like a great design. RIP Elijah Isham.
This would be a great small companion to my coldsteel talwar trailing point. Live it.
I'll probably get one. I really like the Artisan Arroyo even though the upsweep took some getting used to.

This is like Civivi's version of the Spyderco Ikuchi.

Yea complete rip-off off the 0460 which most people didnt like but you watch those same people will fall in love with this for some reason

A good looker for sure. Kind of plain in the world of his designs. Great review brotha 👍

Kind of a sucker for a narrow knife that looks like a great cutter anyway, like this one!

I’m looking forward to the button lock civivi’s (I think one is called the Cogent)
Other one is the Altus
When is the ETA for them

I love Civivi and love the McKenna. Just ordered this knife after watching the video.
👊🏼🙌🏼 You’re going to love it! 🔥
I love the shape and I like the handle being so simplistic and not having any finger grooves that don't always fit everyone's hands very well.
I didn't realize these were out yet. This looks like what the Hazakura should have been.

Great suggestion! I will work on that this weekend! 👌🏼👊🏼
I keep looking at the blade and the trailing point design is so minor that it almost looks like a straight back blade in the videos.

To me it has a super budget Sinkevich 0460 vibe
