Can You Charge An Electric Skateboard With A Solar Panel?

- I am a big proponent of Skatepacking, which is backpacking on an electric skateboard/esk8. Or, any other type of PEV -- Electric Unicycles/EUC, onwheels, bicycles, scooters, and even hoverboards and surfboards! If it's electric and portable, it's a candidate!
One of the biggest worries is range anxiety, out in the wilderness & rural areas. What happens if you're on a stretch that's 50km to 100km (or more) from a place to charge? I take aim at that problem in this video, with a portable solar charging setup to charge up your esk8 batteries!

You sir are a savior! Doing a project around something similar for my Masters and you made everything so clear and straightforward in this. Thanks Dude
Glad I could be helpful!
Watching this video inspired me to find a more reliable solar charge controller for my 14s mountainboard and I came across a company called Genasun that makes solar charge controllers specifically for Li-ion battery packs and they come in a variety of series configurations! The only caveat here is they are pretty expensive, they range from $99 to $205 ($205 being for the 14s variant). I'm definitely going to buy one however and get it tested while its nice and sunny here in SoCal! Thanks for the inspiration man!
Haha never thought of that 😲🤣! Awesome bro 🤙
You have a link for the thermal charger you were talking? I camp and always have a fire so that makes sense combined with solar.
The ones I was looking at was on a site called TEGmart
@@MikeInTheWoods thank you! LOVE THE SKATE CONTENT!
What do you think about the future of exoskeleton technology in prepping community ? I am looking forward to a future where I can buy an exoskeleton with reasonable price so I can add even more stuffs into my heavy ass INCH bag XD. I hope that you will review them when they are available, better and cheaper btw.
Anyways, don't expose your lithium battery to direct sunlight, lithium battery (and battery in general) don't like direct sun light and heat, it will greatly reduce the capacity of the battery over time.
Definitely seems up my alley. Will potentially be prohibitively expensive though, so it depends on the state of my channel when that becomes a thing.
As it is already, I'm hungrily eyeing Spot the robot dog, with so many ideas
@@MikeInTheWoods There are some passive exoskeleton for work that cost around $10k btw so I don't think they would cost too much (compare to a robot like Spot), maybe ...
Anyways, I am hopping that you will get the robot, if you want to spend $75k on Spot then you should spend extra to get the arm/head as well (as long as it doesn't break your bank lol), it would be much more useful with the arm.
If you're in the back country you're not using an electric skateboard lmao
Says who? Who made your lame ass the expert?
Nobody, but considering back country is not accessible by roads and typically involves hiking or canoeing to get to your destination
@@ThatTallNerd If OnLy I tHoUgHt Of ThAt!!1!
If only there was some sort of off-road variant of esk8 meant for backcountry trail use!
Oh wait, there is.
I think we might have different opinions on what is considered to be backcountry
Veteran Sherman...you try and thank me later..
This is a fake mppt boost solar charger.
Up to now there are only 2 true mppt boost solar charger in the market:
- genasun (300$) made in USA
- sunyima CTKEV-300 (30$) made in China
What is it about it that makes it fake? The general consensus I found while reading up on it, was that it was a real MPPT
