I was initially confused about that myself when I first worked on this video, so I re-checked the records and realized what had happened: his was the last match of a dual meet in which the team scores were extremely close, and he needed a major decision or better (>7 point spread) for his team to end the dual meet with the higher score, but since he ended the match 8-3, that resulted in the team scores being tied instead. If you watch through the very end, you can actually hear his teammates tell him, "It goes by who scored first". That means they made it through quite a number of tie-breaker criteria before finally arriving at the one that says, "the team having the greater number of first-point(s) scored shall be declared the winner, which apparently was Father Ryan. So, although he was initially upset because he thought he had failed his team, it turns out he won it for them after all, he just didn't realize it until his teammates let him know at the end of the video.
